My Review: 5/5 Stars
Loved being back in the Kate Daniels world! This was a fun novella after being away from this world for a long while. In Julie's book that took place sometime after this we learn that Kate, Curran, and Conlan had moved to Wilmington at some point. So we rewind a bit to find out what happened during those years. And this takes place when Conlan is eight years old. Kate and Curran are trying to keep a low profile while they settle in a new city and home, but because it is them, staying under the radar doesn't exactly work out the want it to. When Kate learns that a child is kidnapped, she can't stand by and do nothing. She works with the father to get him back. Meanwhile, Curran knows his wife better than anyone and prepares their fortress home for an attack that will shortly follow once Kate starts getting her answers. This was a fun story filled with adventures, magic, monsters, and the Kate and Curran attitudes we all know and love. Plus, such a treat to get Conlan's point of view too! He is definitely Kate and Curran's child. Loved this novella and hoping there will be more to come!
