Devon Falls Book 4: Found in the Falls by JE Birk

Devon Falls Book 4

After Dr. Milo Warner saves me from humiliation in a hotel hallway, I can’t stop thinking about him. When I get the chance to hide from my problems and open a community center with Milo in a small town called Devon Falls, I take that opportunity and run. But now things between the two of us are heating up fast. Milo protects me from runaway gondolas, takes care of me when I’m injured, shields me from my trauma, and sees power and strength in me that no one else ever has. We keep making jokes about the two of us being the perfect alpha/omega pair, but honestly? I’m not joking.

The problem is that it’s becoming more and more likely our parents will soon run against each other in a high-profile political primary race. Milo and I have both been burned by the public spotlight before, and we understand the dangerous territory we’re wading into. When we uncover a secret that’s been kept from our parents, one thing becomes clear: Milo and I will both need to take some big risks if we plan to fight for each other.

Found in the Falls comes with an older doctor who struggles to suppress his protective side, a younger social worker who just wants to make the world better, a sweet rescue dog they accidentally adopt together, and the Devon Falls found family they both desperately need. This is the fourth book in the Devon Falls series, but it can be read as a standalone.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I love being back in Devon Falls! Another great story in this series. This time it is Milo and Noah’s story! Noah hasn’t had it easy. Losing his mom in the way he did when he was a kid has left his scars. But he was raised by his uncle who loves him deeply. And who, unfortunately for Noah, has a high profile political career. Being in the spotlight is the worst place for Noah to be but he knows his uncle does good work. Though his advisor is unkind and harsh with Noah. Which Milo catches when him and Noah run into one another. Milo rises to Noah’s defense. And with Milo’s own mom in politics, he gets it. It starts a friendship between them. And when Noah needs to get away, Milo offers Devon Falls as an escape. Working at the new community center that is being developed in Devon Falls is great for Noah. And it gives Milo and Noah a chance to get to know one another better…and explore the sparks between them. They are exactly what one another needs. They have great chemistry and the dynamic between them works so well with them. I loved getting to know them and watch them fall hard for one another. I also loved seeing our other favorite characters from this series and what they have been up to. And even more, looks like we have a new character who will be getting their book next! So happy to see this series continue and can’t wait for the next love story!

Van Doren Book 8: Kairo by Crea Reitan

Van Doren Book 8

Every heart hides something.

He walks into my office like he has a right to be here. Unfazed and unbothered by my sharp words and thorny exterior, Malcolm challenges everything I know. Somehow, he breaks down my walls and I’m laid bare before him.

There’s nothing more terrifying than exposing my vulnerability so when I force him out of my life to protect my heart, I realize there are some things that being a Van Doren alone can’t fix.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Kairo’s turn! I’ve been looking forward to his story for a while. Kairo has come off as prickly and a jerk through a lot of eyes. Though in recent books, it looked like everyone was starting to realize something. That he isn’t what he appears. And he may be hiding who he is behind a very tall wall. But no one has been successful getting past his defenses. Until Malcolm. Malcolm is a survivor of a very messed up game. He owes the Van Dorens for getting him out of there and they’ve helped him give him a new purpose. So when Jalon asks Malcolm to go to Chicago and see if he can help Kairo a bit, he goes. But mostly because he is very curious about Kairo himself. He may have heard different things about Kairo, but he won’t judge until he gets there. And to his surprise and delight, Kairo feels like his. Now to prove it to him. To earn his trust and show him that Malcolm sees everything he is hiding about himself. And that Malcolm can take care of him, be there for him… if he lets him. I loved this story! It was so great to finally know more about Kairo and see the big heart he desperately hides. And Malcolm is absolutely perfect for him. This was just a great story all around!

Van Doren Book 7: Arath by Crea Reitan

Van Doren Book 7

Be careful what you ask for.

Elgin Bolingbrook is drunk and in the wrong place at the wrong time. The mistaken target for a gang lands Elgin in my protection. He’s cute, confused, and so ridiculously responsive to me that I quickly become addicted.

As we close in on the gang who’s after Elgin, I realize that once we eliminate the threat, I’m going to lose the man I enjoy playing like a violin.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/250436102-arath

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

When Elgin ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time, he never imagined where it would lead him. Arath Van Doren is in charge of Philly. Keeping it safe with his team, they track a local gang who are trying to make a name for themselves. And lucky for Elgin, Arath is at the right time to save him from being shot. But now that gang thinks they have to take out Elgin. Arath won’t let that happen. Elgin knows he should probably object a bit to being a bit of a “hostage” to Arath, but he can’t seem to find a reason to care all that much. Arath has awakened something in Elgin he has never felt before and he isn’t ready to let it go just yet. And for Arath, well he definitely addicted to Elgin and letting him go isn’t an option either. These two were pretty funny. We got a willing hostage and a protective caveman, but they were definitely cute. It’s always fun to get a Van Doren brother story! And I loved seeing this one extended after having read a sneak peek of it. You definitely don’t want to miss these two!

Beautiful and Beastly Book 1: A Curse of Beasts and Magic by Jeaniene Frost

Beautiful and Beastly Book 1

New York Times bestselling author of The Night Huntress series Jeaniene Frost returns with a brand-new series! It’s Beauty and the Beast meets The Witcher in this dark fantastical retelling, except Beauty IS the Beast, and he’s the Warden keeping mythical beings in check in our world and beyond.

Raine Stone was the sole survivor of a horrific creature while camping. Her account of the attack was attributed to shock, but Raine knows all too well that her story is true because now she carries that same Beast inside her!

She’s been restraining its violent urges by letting it 'feed' on the pain and chaos she’s exposed to as an ER nurse, and by playing vigilante against would-be muggers at night. But when Raine uses the Beast’s energy to heal a frail elderly gentleman from a seemingly random attack, she opens herself to a new world of danger—literally.

Remington “Remy” Byrne knows that the wall between a realm of deadly mythic creatures and our own world is very thin; he’s the Warden who guards the gateways between them. He also rules the supernatural creatures living in secret among us. Raine’s Beast makes her an intruder on Remy’s territory, but the elderly gentleman she saved is Remy’s grandfather, and her Beast contains power that could tip the scales in a sinister plot against Remy’s rule—if Raine allies with him.

Will they be friends or foes…or will the dangerous attraction between them turn into something else? And can our world be saved by their explosive alliance?

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

A great start to this new series by Jeaniene Frost! Raine has a problem. One that started eleven years ago. There is this Beast inside of her, and no matter what she does, it won’t go away. So over the years she has done everything in her power to control it and feed it to keep it tame. The Beast craves violence, and Raine has found ways to provide it. But one night changes her future. After she helps an old man from being attacked and heals him with her powers, Remy comes to her door. Turns out, she isn’t the only magical being in the world. The world is filled with them and there are some rules and guardians. Remy is a Warden. Basically keeping balance and providing some order between magical creatures and the unknowing humans. And turns out, he knows what Raine is and he may just be able to help. So they strike a bit of a deal. But there are other grabs for power going on in the world around them and they’ll need to work together. All the while trying to figure out what is sparking between them. A really great start to this whole new urban fantasy world! I really loved getting to know Raine. She is exactly what you would expect out of a Jeaniene Frost heroine. Sassy, smart, and brave. You never knew what she would do next. A great match to challenge Remy at every turn. A great story all around and I can’t wait to see what happens with these two next!

Dark Olympus Book 10: Shattered Gods by Katee Robert

Dark Olympus Book 10

She was Olympus's Queen. Its sacrifice. Its savior. Its destruction.

Long ago, Circe was Hermes' entire heart. The two women lived on the outskirts of Olympian society, content with a quiet life away from the spotlight. Then Circe caught the eye of Zeus…and was forced into a marriage that would take her freedom, her future, and in the end, her life. In the wake of the tragedy, gossip swirled about the woman Zeus married and (allegedly) murdered…but in time, everyone forgot about beautiful, tragic Circe.

Everyone but Hermes, who vowed on that day to bring Olympus to its knees.

Now, fifteen years later, a new Zeus rules the city, a new Hades protects his people, a new hope dawns…and Hermes has begun to think there may be things about Olympus worth saving. With Atalanta by her side―and slowly rebuilding her heart―Hermes may finally be ready to set aside her fury and seek the city's rebirth instead of its total annihilation. But there is a beautiful devil on Hermes' other shoulder: a devil who rose, blood-soaked, from where Zeus left her for dead years ago. A devil who has waited all this time to have her revenge.

And no matter their past, no matter the desperate love they once shared, no matter the complicated triad forming between the three women, Circe will not rest until all of Olympus lays shattered at her feet…and the gods help anyone who gets in her way.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The final book of this series has arrived! And we finally get Hermes’s story. It’s been a long time coming to see what she has been up to all this time and her exact plans. And her past. Hermes’s goal has been to take down the Thirteen. To build something new. But then Circe arrives unexpectedly and it disrupts her plans over and over again. Add in the fact that Hermes thought Circe was dead. And they have quite the past. And right now, Circe is making moves to take the city. She may think she is helping but her ways only lead to death and destruction. Lost in her vengeance. She must be stopped. But that’s not easy. Then we have Atalanta. Hermes’s friend who also loves Hermes. Though they have never acted on it. Knowing that they had a bigger agenda. But the time to hold back from the one you love is no longer an option. Not even any day could you be your last. A pretty wild ride this last one. I was trying to figure out early on how Hermes, Circe, and Atalanta would end up together while also trying to figure out how this story could possibly end with those characters we have come to love remaining intact. At lot goes down in this final book, but the ending is what Olympus needed. A fun series all around. I’m sad to see it go!

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Evan has finally been called up from the AHL to NHL for playoffs. Now he just has to prove to them that he deserves to be there and if he is good enough, they’ll sign him for next season. So his goal? To be focused and put everything he has into doing well in the playoffs. But he never expects to meet Ronan. A member of a band he loves and for them to have such a connection. Evan has never been attracted to a guy before, but Ronan is different. And the idea of staying away and not getting to know him or be with him? Well, that may prove to be impossible. Ronan is was never one for a relationship, especially with his career. So imagine his surprise when he meets Evan and everything changes. Being with Evan can be complicated. Evan has a lot to prove and they can’t afford the media to find out they are together. But the one more time they spend together, the harder they fall. And it may just be worth the risk. Great start to this new series. A rockstar and hockey player may be an unlikely combo, but these two prove they are just perfect for one another!

Necessary Roughness Book 1: The Comeback King by Riley Hart

Necessary Roughness Book 1

Lucas
To my dad, Hunter King is a football prodigy destined for greatness.

The son he always wanted.

To me, Hunter King is the guy I’ve loved most of my life.

The guy who happens to be my dead brother’s boyfriend.

We were kids when Hunter came into our lives—the boy with the skill my brother didn’t have and the drive I lacked. The one who was always kind to me, who cared about my photography when, to my dad, it was a hobby, not worth anyone’s time.

Looking at the world through the lens of my camera is the only thing I’ve ever wanted.

Other than Hunter King.

Hunter
I would be nothing without the Blakes. Coach Blake nurtured my football talent from high school through college and now professionally. For all intents and purposes, he was my father. And when I started dating his son Ellis, it felt like I truly became part of the family.

But since Ellis died, nothing feels right anymore—not even the game I’ve always loved.

Until Lucas walks back into my life.

With each lingering touch, I feel sensation returning. Every kiss breathes air into my lungs. And for the first time in three years, it feels like my heart starts beating again.

But with every embrace, I’m betraying Ellis’s memory. The media, my team, Coach Blake will all condemn me. I’ll no longer be their Comeback King. I’ll be the man who is sleeping with his dead boyfriend’s brother.

Yet none of it is enough to make me stop.

The Comeback King is the first book in a new series. You can expect big feels and a secret relationship with pining and learning to love after loss.

********

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Hunter feels he owes a lot of his success in the NFL to the Blake Family. Ellis became his best friend when he had moved to town, Ellis’s dad made him feel like one of his sons, especially when Hunter and Ellis became more than friends. But then three years ago, Ellis died in a tragic accident. And since then, Hunter hasn’t been the same. His game is suffering and it shows. And then Lucas walks back into his life. Ellis’s brother. Nothing like his brother and treated so poorly by his father, Lucas reminds Hunter there is life outside of football and to find his love in the game again. But Hunter can’t help but feel guilty and like he is betraying Ellis. Especially when things between him and Lucas heat up. However, Hunter also knows he can’t stay away. Not with how Lucas makes him feel. Lucas has always had feelings for Hunter. But he learned to shove them down. It didn’t matter. Hunter was his brother’s best friend then boyfriend. Hunter was the son his dad always wanted. But seeing Hunter again after so long? His heart can only take so much. Especially when Hunter has never expected Lucas to be another other than himself. He knows they may not have a future, but he’ll hold on to Hunter for as long as he can. Such a great story to kick off this new series! I really loved getting to know Hunter and Lucas and watch them fall for one another so hard. They balanced each other and you could see how these two should have always been something. They brought one another back to life a bit and find the joy neither believed they deserved. A really great story all around. And I can’t wait for book two!

Home Ice by Saxon James

TAI

Ten years ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life.

When Hawke left for the NHL and my hockey dreams went up in smoke, I ghosted my best and longest friend. It made sense at the time, but there hasn’t been a day where I haven’t missed him.

So when we run into each other again, and his only response is “Do I know you?”, I know I deserve it. But I refuse to let one mistake keep us apart forever. Especially when he has bigger problems, and I’m in a position to help him.

JENSEN

All I wanted this offseason was to spend my time relaxing–not getting an emergency phone call from Mom to come home. My hometown is full of too many memories of me and Tai so I avoid returning there as much as I can.

But now I have one more memory to add to the list: my high school girlfriend.

And the kid we apparently had together.

Kasen hates me and thinks I abandoned them, and my only way to get to him is through his coach. My ex-best friend. The friend that has been impossible to forget. No matter how much I’ve tried.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The last thing Jensen wanted was to go home. But when he receives shocking news, he has no choice. Turns out, he has a son. Fourteen years old and the kid just lost his mom in a car accident. And what kills Jensen is that no one ever told him. But convincing Kasen that he didn’t purposely abandon him is a whole challenge in itself. Because the moment he meets Kasen, Jensen knows that he wants to be there for his kid. If Kasen will let him. And to do that, he may need a little help from the one person that hurt him ten years ago. Ten years ago, Tai ghosted his best friend without a word. What he was going through, he couldn’t let Jensen know. Tai needed to be home to help his dad and gave up his dream to play in the NHL. And in giving that up, he just couldn’t make himself be there for Jensen. But he has regrets. And he knows that Jensen has every reason to be angry with him still. But when Jensen returns home, they are given a chance to set things right. And in doing so, they may realize that what was between them was so much more than simply being best friends. Loved this story! Just so good all around. Big shocks may have hit Jensen and knocked him down for a minute, but he got back up. I loved how he didn’t give up on his kid and gave himself a chance to do what he would have always done had he known about him. And I loved that he got his best friend back and even more, once him and Tai actually talked about their past. Their chemistry was so strong even before they went from friends to more. And I loved seeing them find their way back to one another. Great story all around!

Silvercrest U Book 5: Secrets & Lies by Willow Dixon

Silvercrest U Book 5

Anthony

Three years ago, I hooked up with one of my frat brothers during a house challenge, and between the darkness and the masks we were wearing, I had no idea it was West until after it was over. And what was supposed to be nothing more than a chance to have a little fun and indulge in some of my darker desires ends up being so much more.

I don’t understand the pull between us, but West feels like mine, and even though he does his best to hide it, I know he wants me too.

After accidentally catching his fiancée cheating on him, I send West an anonymous text asking if he wants to know the truth. That text sparks a conversation, then another, and before I know it, West is telling me his deepest, darkest secrets, even though he has no idea who I am.

Then he issues me a challenge I can’t resist, and my prize is I get to do whatever I want to him. I already know West is into the same things I am, but I had no idea just how compatible we really are. Or how much we both like it when I wear a mask.

At the same time all of this is going on, West and I are paired up to work on a project together, and it’s then I realize that what I feel for him goes beyond anything I ever thought possible. I don’t just want him, I need him. And now that I’ve claimed him, I’m never letting him go.

West is mine until I decide he isn’t, and I dare anyone to try and come between us because I promise it won’t end well for them.

*********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Three years ago, Anthony and West hooked up without realizing who one another were. At least at first. Anthony figured it out but West still doesn’t know. And they have both thought about it plenty over the years. But things had changed. Like the fact that West is currently engaged. Well for now. When Anthony catches West’s fiancé cheating, he starts reaching out anonymously to West about what he saw. And after West ends his relationship, he keeps talking to his mystery texter. Sharing things he hasn’t with anyone else. And soon, they find themselves exploring what is sparking between them. All while Anthony is slowly giving hints to West about who he is. Waiting for West to figure it all out. Because deep down, Anthony knows West is he. But he is patient enough to wait for West to realize that what they have is more than casual. This one was a lot of fun! I like being back in this world and now we are starting to explore a new group of guys while still connecting to the other stories. The bigger threats that we’ve seen hinted throughout the series is still well and alive. Gathering bits of information as we go through the series. But I really liked getting to know Anthony and West in this one. They are a great match and I loved how Anthony treated West. He was so much better a partner for West in all the ways that mattered. And West definitely deserves someone who cares for him and is in this with him one hundred percent. Another great story in this series and I can’t wait for the next one!

Redemption Road Book 1: Knight by DJ Jamison

Redemption Road Book 1

They call me Knight because I'm always trying to save someone...

Unfortunately, I can't even save myself most of the time. I didn't save myself from getting involved with the wrong people, from taking the fall for a guy I thought I loved, or from being betrayed by him.

Redemption Road gives me a fresh start. a new family of men who know what it's like to make mistakes, and a chance to meet a guy who actually deserves my heart. Only problem? He's a doctor going places far from Riverton--and he's way too smart to fall for a con like me.

Especially when my past shows up and tries to drag me back into the biker gang I thought I'd escaped.

There's no running from them. I'll have to fight if I want my freedom. And there's a good chance I won't come out of it alive.

This time, I'll have to save myself. But as the other ex-cons at Redemption Road step up, I realize I'm not alone. I finally have people who care about me.

And my best friend's brother, Aiden, tops that list. He's not only my roommate and casual hookup. He's becoming the center of my world.

But unless I end this, I can't stay with him. I'd only put him in danger. So there's really no choice.

I'm going to get my happy ending--or die trying.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

If you have read the Foster Bros series, then you definitely don’t want to miss this new series! And if you haven’t read Foster Bros yet, I recommend you do! It’s a great start for this particular world where we get beginning looks of our main characters. This series starts off with Knight. Redemption Road gave him a fresh start after he got out of prison. All he wants to do is stay away from his past, which involved a biker gang, and make a new life for himself. And so far, he’s been doing pretty well. But when his plans for a roommate falls through, he is struggling to find someone to fill in. He just never expected it would be his best friend’s brother, Aiden. Especially when Aiden and Knight met many months before at a club and hooked up. They may not have known one another now but they do now. And even more than that? They never forgot that night. But they can’t cross that line again…can they? Meanwhile, Aiden has worked hard to become a doctor. And this year he needs to focus if he wants to move forward with the plans he made. But being around Knight again makes that hard. And it’s only a matter of time until he gives in to their attraction. But maybe his so called perfect plans have room for improvement. But then Knight’s past comes knocking on their door. Can they find a way to free him from the past for good? Loved this story! It was a great way to kick off this new series. I adored getting to know Aiden and Knight. These two had great chemistry and they just worked so well together as a couple. Even when they were denying what was happening between them. A great start for sure and I can’t wait for the next book!

Cherry on Top by Bree Wiley

I love Bree Wiley’s State of Us series, so when she did a story about Arya in this anthology, I had to read it! In this very short story, we see what Arya has been up to. She’s moved away from Utah in the hope to find herself and just give herself a clean slate away from her former friends. In doing so, she meets Liv. First by accident then by a photoshoot they sign up for. Liv is basically married to her job. But when she tries to be spontaneous, she never imagined she would see Arya again. And for the chemistry between them to be so strong. This story between is a sweet promise of starting something new with someone who sees you. A promise of a future that be something they have both been looking for!

Moonfall Book 2: The Ballad of Falling Dragons by Sarah A. Parker

Moonfall Book 2

The Ballad of Falling Dragons is the much-anticipated sequel to the New York Timesbestselling phenomenon When the Moon Hatched, featuring an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.

“Moonbeam. A moonfall is coming.”

Raeve’s thirst for vengeance continues to burn, as does her love for Kaan Vaegor—a staunch beacon from a past she’s yet to face. With Rekk’s blood still fresh on her hands, she learns the world will face its most devastating moonfall yet, forcing her to pick a path:

Chase death.

Or life.

Desperate to save his kingdom from ruin, Kaan’s crown has never felt so heavy. His many larks to scattered friends and family remain unanswered, and time is running out.

As allies merge and enemies surge with bloodlusting agendas of their own, secrets brew hot enough to burn, but none so mighty as the truth nesting within the icy depths of Raeve’s long forgotten past.

Something … Other.

Something with the knowledge to change it all.

********

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Wow! A really great follow up to the previous book and an ending that has me demanding for book three asap! Things have definitely gotten more interesting in this world. Raeve may have gotten her vengeance for now but there is still a lot more left of her journey. She is going to have to face her past sooner or later. But in the meantime, there are some other problems going on. Like the fact that another moonfall is coming. And it isn’t just one, but many. Kaan may have Raeve back and they are together, but they have much to do. Veya, Kyzari, and others have their own roles to play and journeys to face. A lot goes down in this book and I truly don’t want to spoil any of it! I definitely enjoyed this one more than the first book. Only because it was much easier to follow this world at this point. And just so much happened in this one. We get some answers but we definitely have more questions! The ending was really crazy and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Moonfall Book 1: When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker

Moonfall Book 1

The Creators did not expect their beloved dragons to sail skyward upon their end. To curl into balls just beyond gravity’s grip, littering the sky with tombstones. With moons.

They certainly did not expect them to fall.

As a valued Elding Blade of the rebellion group Fíur du Ath, Raeve’s job is to kill. To complete orders and never get caught. When a renowned bounty hunter is employed by The Crown to capture a member of the Ath, Raeve’s world is turned upside down. Blood spills, hearts break, and Raeve finds herself at the mercy of the Guild of Nobles—a group of dual-beaded elementals who intend to turn her into a political statement. Only death will set her free.

Crushed beneath a mourning weight, Kaan Vaegor took the head of a king and donned his melted crown. Now on a tireless quest to assuage the never-ebbing ache in his chest, his hunt for a moonshard lures him into the belly of Gore’s notorious prison where he stumbles upon something that rips apart his perception of reality. A shackled miracle with eyes full of rage and blood on her hands.

The echo of the past sings louder than the Creators themselves, and even Raeve can’t ignore the truths blaring at her from a warmer, happier time.
However.
There’s more to this song than meets the eye, and some truths …
They’re too poisonous to swallow.

When the Moon Hatched is a fast-paced fantasy romance for fans of witty banter and strong, sassy protagonists. Beneath the cover is an immersive, vibrant world with mysterious creatures, a unique magic system, and a love that blazes through the ages.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Raeve is an assassin. Tracking down bad people who have done very bad things. She relishes in taking them out. But when a bounty hunter arrives looking for her, it changes everything. Captured, tortured, grieving, she is waiting for death. Until Kaan Vaegor breaks her free. Now she is set on a path that holds the truth and missing pieces of her path. But it is something she does not want to know. Because nothing good ever lasts long for her. And if she feels this tug toward Kaan then she knows that it will only end in death. This is a big new fantasy world and I will say, takes a minute to get into it and figure it out all. We have dragons and magic and gods. We have a big cast of characters, lots of secrets, and just when you have some questions answered, we have several more things we want to know. It’s hard to explain and get into without spoilers. But overall, I really enjoyed diving into this world. The end definitely had me hooked and I am super grateful I read this just as book two was released. Though I’m sure I will regret it if book two ends with a cliffhanger like book one! But I really enjoyed this story and the characters especially. Lots of fun banter and the romance between Kaan and Raeve is really just starting. And with what we learn at the end, I can’t wait to see what happens next for them.

Siren’s Point Book 2: Facing Leeward by JJ Mulder

Siren’s Point Book 2

Winters are slow in Siren’s Point. For Nils Lee, that means solitude, tending his chickens, and minding his own. It means days of silence. For Oliver Martin, the season brings a different, unique set of challenges: home repairs and loneliness.

Neighbors and coworkers, Nils and Oliver are together more often than they are apart. It’s not enough, though, and both of them wish for more. More time, more companionship, more intimacy. Unsure of how to ask for it, they simply move forward as they are, ignoring the attraction growing between them.

Oliver knows he can be a lot. His personality, his energy, his inability to talk, or think, in a straight line. All of it, too much for most people, and certainly too much for quiet, calm Nils.

Nils has spent his life choosing silence. A partner was never in his future. And, until Oliver moved in next door, he might have said that life was perfect for him. Now, he wishes the short distance between their houses didn’t exist and Oliver was always near enough for Nils to hear him singing.

When a massive winter storm hits Siren’s Point, the choice about whether to close that last bit of space is made for them. With snow falling outside and a fire burning, Oliver and Nils find out there is more than one way to stay warm during winter.

My Review: 5/5 Stars
Nils and Oliver are together more often than they are apart. After a year of working together, their friendship has truly developed. While Oliver can never sit still and always has something to say, Nils is a quiet listener. Though mostly because talking with his stutter is never easy. But he never tires of hearing Oliver talk. Especially when Oliver can read him so well and actually gives him a chance to speak when Nils wants to. Now that it is winter and they aren’t on the boat so often, they still find themselves drifting to one another. Oliver is constantly attempting home repairs with Nils’s help and Oliver loves cooking Nils food and visiting his chickens. So it’s only a matter of time that they come to realize that this friendship between them feels like so much more. And when they take a chance to become more, it may be the best thing that’s happened to both of them. I adored these two! They were just so sweet and I loved watching their friendship slowly develop into something so much more. They balanced one another out perfectly and also gave each other safe spaces to truly be themselves. I loved getting to know them more and watch them fall in love. Another great book in this series, and I can’t wait for more!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
