SCU Hockey Book 3: On the Edge by JJ Mulder

SCU Hockey Book 3

Henri Vasel has perfected the art of people pleasing. He’s a good student, a fair hockey player, and he has a group of friends he’d do anything for. He’s happy. Or, rather, as happy as he can be when he has a class with the one person he can’t seem to please at South Carolina University.

Atlas Kaiser hates a lot of things, but right now he hates Henri Vasel the most. He doesn’t want to have to stare at his perfect face, or listen to his adorable German accent. He wants to be left alone. Unfortunately, they’re partnered together for the semester so he’ll have to grit his teeth and try to make it work.

Animosity morphs into a tentative friendship, which eventually leads to more. But while Atlas doesn’t trust their budding relationship, Henri wants more.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

It’s finally Vas’s turn! I loved Henri Vasel since we first see him in the first SCU book. How can anyone not love this sweet guy who can make friends with someone like grouchy Carter and quiet Max? Vas is loyal and friendly and just the nicest person you ever met. So of course, he falls for his complete opposite. Atlas is anything but friendly. He like to keep people at an arm’s length (and honestly even longer). He has a lot of reasons to distrust people are here to stay or don’t want something from you. So he is baffled when he is partnered with Henri in class and Henri tries to make friends. And no matter how hard he tries to push Henri away. Whether it’s the silent treatment or flat out being rude, he can’t seem to shake Henri. And to Atlas’s despair, he can feel his walls breaking down just a bit. And any dislike he has for Henri goes away bit by bit. Henri can sense that Atlas needs a friend. And what takes him by surprise even more is the fact that Atlas is the first person Henri seems to have an attraction to. It doesn’t happen for him. And all he has wished, especially lately, is to find a partner. Someone he can be himself with and find some sort of intimacy. And despite Atlas’s attitude, he sees past it and knows Atlas is someone he should get to know. Loved their story! Of course, in the beginning I was a little grumpy with Atlas. How can anyone not love Henri the cinnamon roll!? But the more we got to know Atlas and see him with Henri, the more I could see why him and Henri are a great pair. I also loved that we got a chance to know Henri better as well! He’s been a strong presence in the series and definitely deserved to find love. Great story! And I can’t wait for the next one!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
