Chicago Thunder Hockey Book 4: Power Forward by Jodi Oliver

Chicago Thunder Hockey Book 4

Jackson

When I attended my teammate’s wedding, I wasn’t expecting to come face to face with the man who broke my heart fourteen years ago.
He was my teammate. My first love.
But when I got traded, he threw what we had away.
Now he’s back in my life and he wants to give things another go.
If I agree to try again, and it all goes wrong, it’s not just my heart that’s at risk of breaking. It’ll be my kids' hearts too.

Hayden

I don’t have many regrets in life. Only one.
Hurting Jackson Wilde.
Since my career ending injury, my life has been on a downward spiral. I’ve projected to the world that everything’s fine, but deep down, I’m a broken man.
For the last six years I’ve been working on getting back pieces of the man I used to be. Not just to save me from myself, but for this moment.
A chance to win Jackson back.
I know it’s not going to be easy, but I’m going to give it my all.

Power Forward is a second chance sports romance featuring a hockey player and an ex-teammate turned sports agent. It includes mental health rep, adorable kids, unintentional matching Halloween costumes and all the Thunder found family vibes.
It is book four in the Chicago Thunder series and can be read as a standalone.

My Review: 5/5 Stars
What an emotional rollercoaster! Oh man, Jackson and Hayden’s story brought tears to my eyes several times! I couldn’t put this book down. Get ready for all the feels. Jackson has never truly gotten over his first heartbreak. He tried to move on through the years. Got married, had kids, and then divorced and is now juggling being a single parent while playing in the NHL. It’s not easy but he does his best. Because his two young kids are his entire world. But when Jackson, the man who broke his heart 14 years ago, makes an appearance in his life again, he can’t tell if he is angry or hurt or maybe even glad to see him again. Because even though he wants to be wary about letting him back in his life, he feels the pull he had all those years ago telling him this man is his. Meanwhile, Hayden knows he messed up. He pushed Jackson away and just never fully recovered. And it has taken him a long time to really come to terms on why he did that and what he was going through mentally. He has spent the last several years trying to get himself in a place where he can go to Jackson and explain, apologize, and even maybe get a second chance. Because he knows Jackson was it for him. But will Jackson give him a chance to win his heart back? To show how much he has changed and how he won’t ever hurt him again? Oh man, these two. My heart. I loved their second chance romance. I loved how these two found a way back to one another. Through so many ups and downs in their lives, through every struggle, they found a way back to the one they were always supposed to be with. Great, great story!! And I cannot wait for the next one in this series!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
