Gods Versus Monsters Hockey Book 1: No Pucks by JR Gray

Gods Versus Monsters Hockey Book 1

Finding out the guy I hooked up with is on my team isn’t the way I saw my first week of coaching going.

My name is Anthony Hawke, and I used to be a rising star in the NHL until someone purposefully tore my ACL, ending my career. I went from the top of my life to nothing in a matter of months.

I take a coaching job a thousand miles away as a fresh start, only to ruin it before I start.

Three months ago, I met him in a bar. Sexy and funny and built like a God—no names, just the best night of my life.

I never thought I’d see him again, but jokes on me, he’s a freshman on my team. Not only is he an insufferable playboy, but his father is the one who ruined my career.

I can’t lose this coaching job by sleeping with a player, but he won’t let it go. And if his father finds out, forget working anywhere in hockey again.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Logan knows he has some daddy issues. First off, he hates his own father for a very long list of reasons and when he finds out his dad has yet again cheated on his mom, he’s just had enough. Makes him even happier to know that he escaped going to his father’s alma mater and instead will be playing hockey for the New York Gods instead. And two, his issues are probably why he never likes to hook up with anyone his own age. He just prefers older men. And after a night where he finds out his dad cheated again, he really needs a hook up. He just never expects that the man he hooked up with will reappear months later as his new hockey coach. And not only that, Logan’s father was also the reason that Anthony had to quit the NHL after getting injured. So just a bit complicated. Anthony is shocked that the one time he finally decides to hook up with a man after avoiding any sort of relationship following his messy divorce would be the son of the man he hates and a freshman on his team. There is just so much wrong with it all and he knows he needs to stay far, far away from Logan. Too bad that doesn’t exactly work well for either of them. Despite the age difference, they just seem to get one another. And what should have just been a hook up transforms slowly into so much more for the two of them. A relationship between them should be impossible with all they have to lose if anyone finds out. And with Logan’s dad trying to mess with Logan after Logan told his mom about the cheating, well, things are about to get interesting. Was super excited to see another series set in this world! We have the fencing series with the New York Gods and now hockey! We got an interesting hockey team for sure and I can’t wait to see who’s story is next! Overall, I really enjoyed this story. Logan was just hilarious with his quick quips. He brought out a different side to grumpy Anthony in only the best way. Definitely looking forward to reading more of this series!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
