Leighton U Book 4: Playing Dirty by CE Ricci

Leighton U Book 4

 Our rivalry formed long before we became siblings.

Madden Hastings has been my nemesis since the day we met.

A divide was born from the age-old rivalry between our universities,

but this year, another layer developed. It became personal.

Because the captain of Blackmore’s baseball team?

He’s also my new step brother.

My disdain for the sudden blending of our families leads to more conflict,

and despite their efforts to force us together, coexisting proves impossible.

But something else starts burning beneath my bitterness and resentment;

an attraction as unexpected as it is potent.

And when the chemistry becomes too powerful to deny,

our already complicated relationship gets even messier.

Because a forbidden fling is one thing, but falling for the enemy?

It forces me into a choice I never wanted to make.

One between loyalty to my team, or the love of my life.

*Playing Dirty is the fourth in a five book standalone college sports romance series featuring two rivalry-fueled step brothers, a cut-throat game of capture the flag, and sexual tension that oozes off the page. Not suitable for anyone under 18 years of age.*

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I loved this latest book from the Leighton U series! This has been such a fun series and I can’t believe there is only one book after this. This story follows Theo and Madden. Not only are these two on rival baseball teams for their universities but things took a complicated turn when they learned their parents were in a relationship and got married. For Madden, all he wants is his mom to be happy. And though she and her new husband got there wasn’t the best, her happiness is all that matters especially when he sees her being treated right. So he is very much willing to try for her sake. Even if it means getting to know the enemy. But for Theo, it’s more complicated than that. He gets blindsided that not only his parents want a divorce but his dad had an affair to get there. It’s hard for him to understand how the person he looked up to is not who he seems to be. So playing nice isn’t exactly on the table. But what happens when he actually listens to Madden? Starts feeling something for him? And vice versa. Complications. The rivalry. Their families. But pushing that all aside, one thing is clear. Neither can resist the other and are willing to risk everything if it means finding out if whatever is between them is real. I really loved this story! Theo had so much to overcome but he fought hard because he knew what Madden was starting to be for him. I loved their banter and their surrender to the pull between them. Madden was patient and kind and wasn’t afraid of his feelings for Theo, he could only take a leap of faith and hope Theo felt the same. Such a great story! Can’t wait for the final one!
