Guild Hunter Series Book 11 |
Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s darkly passionate Guild Hunter world, where human-turned-angel Elena Deveraux, consort to Archangel Raphael, is thrust center stage into an eons-old prophecy....
Midnight and dawn, Elena’s wings are unique among angelkind…and now they’re failing. The first mortal to be turned into an immortal in angelic memory, she’s regressing. Becoming more and more human. Easier to hurt. Easier to kill.
Elena and Raphael must unearth the reason for the regression before it’s too late and Elena falls out of the sky. Yet even as they fight a furious battle for Elena’s very survival, violent forces are gathering in New York and across the world.
In China, the Archangel Favashi is showing the first signs of madness. In New York, a mysterious sinkhole filled with lava swallows a man whole. In Africa, torrential monsoon rains flood rolling deserts. And in Elena’s mind whispers a haunting voice that isn’t her own.
This time, survival may not be possible…not even for the consort of an archangel.

My Review: 5/5 Stars
Insane. Like for real, so insane!! And why are cliffhangers the absolute worst!? They are so mean! Incredible, incredible story. So much happened during this story that I am still trying to process it all. Nalini Singh never fails in her writing. This was probably one of her bests in this series and I am desperate for the next one to come out.
The Cascade has returned and it is back with a vengeance. Elena finds her immortality is regressing and she is becoming more mortal every minute. As her and Raphael try to stop her body from failing, the Cascade is throwing nature into chaos and Elena is trying to find out who is speaking in her mind. It's a lot. Even for them. On top of prophecies and the possible return of the Archangel of Death, Elena tries to get some normalcy in her Guild work. Someone attacked her brother-in-law and she is determined to keep her family safe. There were so many pieces to this book. Solving the mystery behind her brother-in-law's attacker and figuring out what is happening to her. Everything is go, go, go and I loved every moment. I loved trying to figure out the riddles the Legion speaks. I loved the surprises and plot twists that occurred. One of the best moments was having almost all the Seven together and some faces that we haven't seen in a long time appear. There was a ton of crazy things that happened too, but I do NOT want to spoil. Trust me, this book you don't want ruined for yourself. And that ending...just wow!! Risks were taken just like you would expect Elena and Raphael to take. Because they are not ones to cave to fate. They make their own destiny, forge their owns path. And it stayed true this entire book. They did not lose who they were, no matter how difficult or hopeless it got. The question now is, did it work and was it worth it? Sadly, we will not know the results until the next book. Can't wait. Great, great, book.
