A Night Rebel Novel Book 1: Shades of Wicked by Jeaniene Frost

Shades of Wicked (Night Rebel, #1)
A Night Rebel novel Book 1
In this thrilling new Night Rebel series set in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress world, sexy and ruthless vampire Ian finally meets his match!

The Rule Breaker

Master vampire Ian is unrepentant, shameless…and every shade of wicked. He’s made one too many enemies in his two centuries of existence, including Dagon, a demon who now lays claim to his soul. Ian’s only chance to escape Dagon is to join forces with a Law Guardian, but he’s never been able to abide by the rules for long.

The Law Maker

Veritas’ normal role is police, judge and jury to reprobates like Ian. But she has her own ax to grind with Dagon, so if she can use Ian as bait…well, all’s fair in law and war. As they scour supernatural hotspots to perfect their trap, Veritas soon realizes Ian’s devil-may-care, roguish image hides something much more powerful. And Ian discovers that Veritas has shocking secrets of her own. As they’re drawn to each other with a passion as intense as their peril, either love or justice will prevail. But each will have devastating consequences…

My Review: 5/5 Stars

A kick ass start to what I think will be a really great series! I had only read the Night Prince series before starting this one. Which to me had made sense because the end of that series led up to what would begin this series. What I failed to remember to do was to read the series that came even before Night Prince. Which was the Night Huntress series. I got away with it when it came to Night Prince, but even I recognized the names of characters that came from the first series. And I am sure I got lots of spoilers from it. But despite that if you wanted to jump into this book and never read any of the others, you certainly can. You will not be lost. But from someone who likes to read everything in order, I do regret not doing so since I didn't know everything up to date.

But anyway! This book on its own was still such a great book! I loved reading Ian and Veritas' story. The action and the romance in this book kept me on my toes and I had to know how these two would not only come up with a plan to defeat big bad Dagon, but how such polar opposites could fall for one another. Turns out, maybe they aren't so different. Ian and Veritas form a rather shaky alliance to defeat their common enemy. The secrets they both have are heavily guarded and it takes a lot for them to break down the walls they have built around themselves. But their chemistry is undeniable and between the hilarious banter between the two, I couldn't get enough. The ending was pretty crazy and I am so glad there is more to this series and I think it will be a great one!
