Forgotten Kingdoms Book 8: Of Claws & Chaos by M. Sinclair

Forgotten Kingdoms Book 8

A forsaken wolf princess.

A new king risen to power.

One opportunity to unite their broken lands and love.

Overcome by the exhaustion of her monotonous day-to-day life, all Evera wants is one fun night out. A chance to escape a rigorous work schedule that drains her of all semblance of happiness. When a mysterious portal consumes the air before her and an enigmatic, intense man pulls her through, she wonders if her wish is being granted.

As she’s swept into a foreign, magical land she doesn’t recognize, Evera finds herself separated from the man who pulled her there—a man who not only knew her name, but seemingly everything about her.

Completely alone, Evera treks through a mountainous landscape to reach the Kingdom of Nightfall. With each step, she encounters its foreboding and mysterious qualities, making it clear that she’s not on Earth anymore.

Arriving in Nightfall brings more questions than answers, though, as she discovers that not only does she have royal blood, but there’s a primal magic running through her veins that allows her the ability to shift into a wolf. What startles Evera the most to learn is that she had a life in this world before—with the very man who stole her through the portal: Axel, the King of Nightfall.

Memories begin to resurface, and she quickly recalls that Axel had been the only person she trusted—the only one standing between her and the darkness of her parents’ rule. But has time changed the man who once swore to protect her?

A war is waged between two kingdoms upon news of her return, and Evera is the prize.

A single question wreaks havoc in Evera’s heart: Does she want to belong to anyone at the end of this?

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The final book of this series has arrived! And it was a great one to close the series on. It was definitely one of my favorites of this series. Evera’s life hasn’t been all that great. She’s exhausted from trying to stay afloat and wants one night out with her best friend. But things are never that simple. Not when two men catch her off guard and seem to be enemies. Though she is quick to realize that one is definitely her enemy while the other is…someone who feels pretty safe to her. And if that wasn’t enough, she falls through a magic portal where she learns some pretty interesting stuff about herself. Like how she was princess who sacrificed herself fifty years before to save everyone. Now back where she belongs, her memories are slowly coming back and one thing she remembers the best? Axel. Her bodyguard who is now a king. A king of a land he rebuilt to oppose her parents’ and the darkness they bring to their kingdom. A lot has changed since she died, including Axel himself. As Evera tries to regain the rest of her memories and the magic inside her, part of which is her ability to shapeshift into a wolf, she needs to find a way to help bring peace to a kingdom that needs it so much. I really loved Evera and Axel’s dynamic. Before she died, Axel never believed he was worthy of Evera, especially when he was just a guard. But he loved her all the same. This time, they get a chance to have the future they both have desperately wanted and definitely deserve. A great end to this series for sure!

Bainbridge University Hockey Book 1.5: One-Timer by Andi Burns

Bainbridge University Hockey Book 1.5

After getting hurt before the first game of the season, and getting dumped halfway through his recovery, Ryan Roscowitz needs a break. But instead of relaxing on a family vacation, he’s stuck in snowy paradise with Holland Campbell, his childhood best friend and the one woman who can’t stand him. With two days together before everyone else arrives, and with the help of a mis-sent text, they’re about to find out they have a lot more in common than they thought.One-Timer is a standalone holiday short in the BU Hockey series. It features an opposites-attract pair who seemingly have nothing in common...except their sizzling attraction to each other. Chronologically, it follows Scoring Chance and happens concurrently with Penalty Kill, but it can be read on its own.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars
A cute holiday short set in the Bainbridge University Hockey series, Ryan and Holland have been friends since they were kids. And have always had feelings for one another. But with growing up and high school and drifting apart, neither told the other. Nor believed the other would feel that way. But after being stuck alone for a weekend and accidentally sending texts to the wrong person… well something is a bout to change. Maybe these two can finally get it right and admit that they were always meant to be together. Very cute short and it made me excited to jump back into this world when the series picks up again!

Front Range University Book 1: Beautifully Fractured by Michele Lenard

Front Range University Book 1

Ever have someone get you so well it’s like looking in a mirror?

Cruz
Starting over is not what I had planned.

Those stories about magically becoming best friends with the person assigned to live with you… Yeah, that won’t be me. I already have a best friend. Even if I wanted a new one, Liam wouldn’t be it. He’s permanently grouchy, carrying a negative energy I don’t need since I’m finally in a good place. But I’ve never been good at ignoring when people need help, so I paste on a smile and play nice.

Predictably, Liam isn’t much of a talker, but after an unexpected accident he needs my help in other ways. Ways that offer me answers about myself. Ways that raise new questions about the football dreams I’ve been chasing since I was a kid. Ways that make me relive the past I want to ignore.

To say I’m confused is an understatement, but there’s one thing I know for certain…Liam is either the key to one door or the bolt that could prevent another from ever opening. And I have to choose which I want him to be.

Liam
Starting over is exactly what I need.

I can’t get any more invisible than I’ve been for the past few years, and I figure rooming with another person means at least one human on the planet can’t ignore me. Unfortunately, that human is Adonis personified, and not gay, so it’s looking like my invisibility streak might continue.

Then I suffer a minor accident, and Cruz’s hero complex comes out in full force.

I should be grateful to have someone to open my door and carry my books, but when you pair his selfless personality with that body… My mind starts to blur the roommate line, which makes his blur the line of not being gay.

My heart is already battered, and I doubt it can take rejection from the one person who broke down all the walls I’d built around it. That doesn’t mean I won’t try to give it to him anyway.

**Beautifully Fractured is a high-heat MM romance with medium angst that features a grumpy/sunshine relationship, forced proximity, hurt/comfort situations and a bi-awakening. This is book one in a series of interconnected standalones. Though the main characters are athletes, this is not a sports romance. Rather, it's a romance that happens to feature people who play sports.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Loving the start to this new series by Michele Lenard! Cruz and Liam were such great characters and I can’t wait to see more from this series. Cruz is starting his freshman year of college. He is on the football team like he always dreamed about while also making arrangements to make sure his studies don’t suffer. Meaning he’ll be in a dorm away from the athletes and parties. In doing so, he meets his new roommate, Liam. A broody and bit of grump guy where they don’t get off on the best foot, yet they find themselves becoming friends. Liam has come to college to escape a home where his parents barely remember his existence due to their grief. And at first he doesn’t know what to make out of his golden retriever roommate who has a bit of hero complex. And not even in a bad way. As Liam gets to know Cruz, he realizes pretty quick how protective and loyal he is. And how he has a way of breaking down Liam’s walls. A crush is easily developed but Liam believes nothing can happen between them. Yet, maybe that can change. Cruz has never felt attraction before. He’s tried but it just hasn’t happened for him. But Liam changes things as time goes on. And things between them slowly change. And it’s only a matter of time before this connection between Cruz and Liam takes a whole new level. I really adored this story. Both of these characters have been through two different kinds of tragedies. It hasn’t been easy for either. And for Cruz, his journey is about learning who he is and what that means. While Liam’s is a journey of healing. Together, they balance one another out and bring out the best in one another after both being so lost. It was just such a satisfying story to read and so sweet to watch them fall in love. I’m really excited to see where this series goes!

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Back in the Psy-Changeling world and it’s Remi’s turn! I love the RainFire pack and it was great to see them again and this time get their alpha’s story. We’ve seen Remi quite a few times in the series. He has a nice mentor relationship with Lucas and one of his closest friends is Aden, leader of the Arrows. And now we get to see who is mate ends up being. The answer? Auden Scott, a Psy who was the daughter of two vicious Councillors who are now gone. But their plans? Not completely gone. Auden has suffered by the hands of her parents in a way that has caused permanent damage to her brain. When Remi first meets Auden near his land, he knows something is off with her. Her scent is quick to change and she isn’t completely with him in their conversation. He does sense the real her though when she uses her ability to read an object from his mother. Months later, he sees Auden but this time, she is heavily pregnant. Auden may not remember how exactly she became pregnant and other gaps in her memory that tell her she has missed some important things but she does know she will do whatever she can to protect her child. And if that means leaning into the personality shift that thrives from Silence in order to take take the rest of the Scott family? So be it. She also isn’t afraid to get help from Remi. Remi who she is drawn to in ways she can’t explain but knows she isn’t afraid of him. And Remi will do what he can to protect Auden and her child. He isn’t letting her go and will do anything to protect her from those who wish her and her baby harm and even Auden herself. What a ride this one! On top of Auden and Remi’s wild story, the Net is still collapsing and only complicates matters. This was a pretty intense story and I couldn’t put it down. I loved getting to know Remi more and Auden was another great character to add to this cast! This series remains to be one of my favorites and as always can’t wait for the next one!

My Review: 5/5 Stars

What a satisfying conclusion to this long series that has been emotional rollercoaster. The whole series has you in its grip right from the beginning and each book just gets better. All these characters you learned to love in this series has been through so much. They’ve fought tooth and nail the whole way through and it was so nice to see everyone get what they deserve. What a ride! I will not give any spoilers because you definitely don’t want any for this last book. Tory and Darcy are ready to take their thrones, their mates, friends, and family are right by their side as they take the final steps to end this bloody war. With no future set and no clear path, they will have to use everything they have learned plus more to defeat Lionel for good. On top of that, they have a fallen star to defeat as well. It’s just a wild ride of battles, sweet (and finally!) moments between favorite couples, hilarious moments between all (yes, Xavier does not get a break. The poor guy will suffer yet another horrifyingly embarrassing moment), and twists and turns you won’t see coming. There were some things I had hoped would happen in this story and was happily surprised when it occurred! It just tied in everything. I was worried going into this story to how it would play out and who we would lose, but I was not disappointed with how everything played out. It was a great end to the series with a promise of new things to come and I cannot wait for the next adventure in this world!

The Duke Brothers Book 2: The Moment They Can’t Forget by Lani Blake

The Duke Brothers Book 2

Rule #1 in the best friends handbook is, don’t sleep with your best friend’s sister.

Alcohol and a hot forbidden woman never mix.
One night. Plenty of fun that turned dirty, and a morning of regrets.
J.D. Hopper hadn’t planned on Zoe Duke being the girl he couldn’t get out of his head. What he had planned on was never acting on it, until he did.
Now he had to pretend she’s kind of a friend, but more an irritation.
A woman who had rocked his world in a single night.
And then there were her big, bad brothers.

J.D. Hopper was everything Zoe hated in a man—arrogant, rich and drop dead gorgeous.
They’d been idiots to do what they had, but neither of them was into happy-ever-afters. So why can’t she forget him or his body?
A visit from her past and a secret from his and suddenly life was a whole lot harder for both of them.
And then there was her brothers.

Lyntacky was like most small towns. It had its interfering locals and families who could trace their roots back hundreds of years. Where Lyntacky stood out from the rest was their love of Square Dancing and the Duke brothers. Both were trouble. Neither had plans for leaving.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

It’s always so fun coming back to the towns created by Lani Blake. Lyntacky is just another quirky town where things like not line dancing when the music plays means ending up in jail for a night. Or how nothing remains a secret for long. If one person knows, everyone knows. And of course, the sense of community where if the locals take you in, you have someone in your corner always. JD Hopper wasn’t born in Lyntacky. He came to visit his best friend, Sawyer Duke, and simply never left. He runs a business he enjoys and fosters all the animals in need of a home and some care. He thought he was doing pretty well. Until a night with Duke’s sister, Zoe, changes everything. The chemistry between them in undeniable. They both know nothing can happen again between them. Yet, neither can forget that it happened. And the more they are thrown together and get to know each a bit better, the harder it is to stay away. For Zoe, she came home after leaving her job in Chicago. Something happened and she was basically forced to leave. She won’t tell anyone but she knows she has some decisions to make about her future. And she isn’t sure if that includes JD. Her brothers won’t like it and she doesn’t plan to stick around. Yet, as the days pass she begins to wonder differently. Really enjoyed Zoe and JD’s story! It’s always fun diving back into this world and I can’t wait for the next book!

Guild Hunter Series Book 16: Archangel’s Lineage by Nalini Singh

Guild Hunter Series Book 16

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s dangerous and beautiful world of archangels, vampires, and mortals has never faced a threat this cataclysmic…

Raphael and Elena are experiencing their first ever year of true peace. No war. No horrors of archangelic power. No nightmares given flesh. Until…the earth beneath the Refuge begins to tremble, endangering not only angelkind’s precious and fragile young, but the very place that has held their most innocent safe for eons.

Amid the chaos, Elena’s father suffers a violent heart attack that threatens to extinguish their last chance to heal the bonds between them and make sense of the ruins of their agonizing shared history.

Even as Elena battles grief, Raphael is torn from her side by the sudden disappearance of an archangel. But worse yet is to come. An Ancestor, an angel unlike any other, stirs from his Sleep to warn the Cadre of a darkness so terrible that it causes empires to fall and civilizations to vanish.

This time, even the Cadre itself may not be able to stop a ticking clock that is counting down at frightening speed…

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Years have passed since the last book. Elena has been by Raphael’s side for almost twenty years and this has been the most peace they have had since their battle against the Archangel of Death. But their peace is about to come to an end if they don’t solve this latest issue. The world around them is facing natural disasters left and right and it all starts with the Refuge itself facing dangerous earthquakes. Never has the Refuge faced something like this before. Not that any of them remember. The Cadre will have to work together to find a long lost solution. But they aren’t alone. Not when a supposed to be Sleeping Cassandra stirs to unleash something she hopes will save them. They are on a ticking clock as the protection around the Refuge threatens to break. And if that wasn’t enough, Elena’s father suffers a violent heart attack that threatens to end any attempt of making peace between the two of them. It’s a book of healing. I adored so much from this book! First, of course seeing so many familiar faces and catching up with their current lives. I loved the introduction of a new character and all the knowledge they share. We learn so much more about angelkind and about Ancients and Ancestors. It only gets more interesting with each book. Plus we get some new characters as well I hope we will explore! I loved seeing how far Elena and Raphael’s relationship has developed. Loved seeing some of the kids all grown up. And of course the chance of Elena and her father have to fix their relationship. Such a solid and compelling book! You don’t want to miss the latest from this series.

Hot Streak by Beth Bolden

Young phenom pitcher Connor Clark doesn't want or need help anyone's help making it to the majors.

He's got a hot arm, and an even hotter temper.

So when his minor league team brings in seasoned catcher Jackson Evans to "handle" him, the two clash instantly.

But as the two battle for power, anger gives way to lust, and an awakening Connor didn't see coming.

If Jackson wants to be 'hands on,' they might as well enjoy it. But once again, the man makes Connor work for it. Just like he does on the field.

Only this time, the reward is so much sweeter. When Connor gives in to Jackson's coaching, and Jackson gives in to his attraction, they're instantly on a hot streak—on the field and in bed.

So hot that Connor finally gets that call to the majors he's always wanted.

But what's a pitcher to do without the catcher who owns his heart? Now all Connor needs is to convince Jackson they belong to each other forever, not just on a baseball diamond.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

All Connor wants is to make it from the minor team to majors. He knows he is a great pitcher and he has what it takes. But despite his skills, he tends to get in his own way when his brain won’t turn off. He overthinks and underthinks and soon ignoring his catcher. But that’s about to change. When his team brings in Jackson to help temper Connor, Jackson isn’t going to roll over and take the attitude and ego from Connor. Nope. They’ll clash and clash until the attraction between them ignites to a point where there is no turning back. For Jackson, he has been burned in the past from being out in the league. And even if he finds Connor attractive and begins to see the real him under the ego, he knows he has to stay in control. For Connor, it’s a slow build up. A not understanding what he is feeling until suddenly it is so obvious. And he has never wanted anyone the way he has wanted Jackson. But convincing Jackson that his feelings are real and that coming out won’t hurt his career? A whole other ball game. But one he is determined to win. Because he is not letting Jackson go. Not a chance. I loved these two! I love their banter on and off the field. They have such great chemistry and you will be rooting for them the whole time! Another great book from this author!

Crimson Club Book 5: Dad Next Door by Willow Dixon

Crimson Club Book 5

Moving into my first house is step one in starting my new life. Next is setting up my contracting business. I’m so focused on my future that a relationship is the last thing on my mind.

Then I meet Tristan, the single dad next door. He might be my total opposite, but we click in a way I’ve never experienced, and he quickly becomes one of my closest friends.

After attending a wedding as his fake date to make his ex, and his ex’s new boyfriend, jealous, I can’t deny that things between us have changed. I always thought I was straight, but being with Tristan doesn’t just feel good, it feels right.

Having a fling with my neighbor might be a recipe for disaster, but it could also be exactly what we both need to finally move on from our pasts.

Quinn and Tristan’s story is a friends-to-lovers, bi-awakening romance between a retired porn model who just moved into his first home, and a single dad trying to navigate life after divorce. Expect a fake relationship, an age gap, found family, all the feels, lots of spice, and tons of heat as these neighbors find out that sometimes opposites really do attract. It is the fifth novel in the exciting new Crimson Club series but can be read as a standalone.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

It’s Quinn’s turn! Quinn has been making a lot of new changes in his life. He’s starting a contracting business and even bought a house with all the money he has earned over the years with his entertainment content. Life is pretty good. But it is about to get better. When he hears a call for help from his neighbor, he races over and helps a kid and his aunt find their missing cat. Later, the kid’s dad comes to thank him and Quinn is surprised to find a connection between them. As Tristan and Quinn spend time together and build up a friendship, it isn’t long until things start to change. For Tristan, he is still dealing with the aftermath of a rough marriage and divorce. His husband was emotionally abusive and after many years together, he finally left for another man. Tristan is glad to be free of his ex, but his ex still tends to bully him through their child. Still, Tristan does what he can. He just never expects for Quinn to come into his life and actually like him for him and treat him like an actual friend. It’s so sweet how these two become best friends and then take a leap into turning it to something more. Especially for Quinn who is learning more about himself and his sexuality. He never expected to be attracted to a man but he knows he definitely is when it comes to Tristan. These two are just really sweet and their romance is so wholesome. You’ll be rooting for them right from the start! And of course it’s nice to get cameos from favorite characters in the series. This series is just so good and I can’t wait for more!

Synopsis

Bilson

The idea of moving away from Seattle was a joke at first.

I have too many failed relationships here. Too much baggage.

So when I find myself signing with Nashville and leaving everything behind, I’m hopeful a new start will cure me of my attachment problems.

I fall fast and hard, and I’m quickly realizing it’s not so easy to escape my emotional damage. That follows no matter where I go.

When my new teammate, rookie goalie Miles Olsen, attaches himself to my side, the media are excited to exploit our bromance. Little do they know, he’s doing me a favor by keeping me away from making mistakes with women.

That’s the deal we made at the beginning of the season, but as time goes on, and we’re both going through a dry spell, Miles suggests a different arrangement. One I’ve never contemplated. One I shouldn’t consider.

One I can’t stop thinking about.

Miles

My first day as starting goalie for Tennessee is made mildly more terrifying by coming face to face with NHL veteran Cody Bilson. Hero worship? Me? Never!

He reminds me of my old frat buddies; loyal, kind, easy to trade banter with. But my dude is lost and trying to find himself again--without getting married this time.

I want to help him, and while my suggestion might not be conventional, it sure as hell is effective. The only way to make sure he doesn't marry a woman again? Blow off steam with a man instead.

We're both straight, we're both single, and we're both down for a good time.

After all, what are teammates for?

A mischievous seer who can't remember.
A wrathful king who can't forget.
A cruel curse that binds them to a twisted fate.

My whole life felt wrong, until one drunken night in Vegas I rescue a koi and wind up dragged into a whole new world.

It has to be a dream, right? There's magic, shifters, dinosaurs, seers, curses, and the most gorgeous man I've ever seen. The powerful tattooed king of the water serpent shifters. He claims that he's my husband, my one true love, my fated mate.
Just one problem.
He's been cursed to kill me.

I'm the reincarnated queen of this mystical land. A land dying from a vicious curse placed upon us by the same monstrous creature that cursed him to kill me in cold blood.

We have less than twenty-nine days to end both curses. But my memories aren’t returning swiftly. I’m not who I used to be. Our magic is increasingly unstable, and there are enemies I can't even see. I don't know if I can be who I need to be.

And how do you kill an ancient entity who always escapes death and who hates you for what you did in your previous life?

We're running out of time, and I'm fighting to get to him. Even if he may literally be the death of me. Because I don't know how life is worth living if I can't live it with him.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

The seventh reincarnated queen has returned to her kingdom. And though her memories of her past live are gone, the more she she takes in her previous home the more she realizes that this is what she has been missing her entire life. Stella has never felt like she has belonged on Earth. There was always something missing. And when she is dragged through a portal, she realizes this is where she is meant to be. But things are complicated. As her memories and abilities slowly come back, the problems in her home are still around. The land is threatened by an evil force who is has cursed the land. And the other curse? Her husband is still cursed to kill her. And though Brandt fights the curse as hard as he can, it is only a matter of time until he finally breaks. They’ll have to find a way to break these curses before it is too late. One thing I loved about this book in particular was that the love interests weren’t enemies. There was no past conflict or misunderstanding that hurt them before Stella died. Though of course, it’s not exactly easy since Brandt is cursed. But I appreciated them remembering and finding one another again so early. They just had to fight that much harder to be together and defeat the villain together. Another great story with romance, adventure, and lots of magic! One book left and I can’t wait!
