Darkmore Penitentiary Book 1: Caged Wolf by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Caged Wolf (Darkmore Penitentiary, #1)
Darkmore Penitentiary Book 1

What do you do when the guy you’ve loved since you were fourteen is sent to the most dangerous prison in Solaria for saving your life?

Okay, so maybe he doesn’t love me back. And maybe getting sent down would seem insane to some, but I’m Rosalie Oscura, champion underground cage-fighter and alpha werewolf from the infamous Oscura Clan. My family wrote the book on criminal organisations and I’ll be ruling this place by the time the next moon rises.

Then I just need to get to work on busting us the hell out of here. ‘Us’ being me, the lion shifter I’ve loved for ten long years, and the most notorious criminal in here - a sinful incubus who’s been condemned to isolation for committing an unspeakable crime.

What’s the worst that could happen? I mean, short of being rejected by my mate, the black-hearted werewolf who rules over my sworn enemies, or getting myself noticed by the sinister vampire guard who has a dark vendetta against me. But how likely is that?

The trouble is, I need the help of those four alpha males to get out of here. And they happen to hate each other almost as much as they hate me.

But I always did love a challenge. And I never did learn when to back down.

So how hard could it be to make them accept me as their leader?

Caged Wolf was previously titled ‘Darkmore Penitentiary’ and is a dark, shifter RH with rejected mates, age gap romance, enemies to lovers, psychos, violence and steamy scenes recommended for readers aged 18+

It is set in the world of Solaria after the events of Zodiac Academy and Dark Fae and contains some character crossover but can be read as a standalone series without having read the other books.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Been looking forward to this series after meeting some of these characters in earlier books from this world. If you read the Ruthless Fae of the Zodiac series then you know exactly why Rosalie is heading to Darkmore, the worst prison in Solaria. To save Roary, the man who saved her life when she was a teenager and paid the price and was arrested. From that day she swore on the stars to get him back. And 10 years later she finally found her chance. She's prepared herself for a long time and gathered her strength now it's time to put her plan to action. And though she has plans in mind things only get more complicated for her. She has to deal with Sin, the guy she is also set out to get free because she was hired to and to escape she'll need the one who employed her to get him out. Then there is Ethan, leader of the Lunar Brotherhood. Him being part of the rival gang is bad enough but their attraction to one another makes it complicated. Then there is Cain, the guard who is cold hearted but even he finds trouble staying away from Rosalie. Each guy draws Rosalie in a different way. So many interesting characters in this series. I loved seeing ones I recognized, Rosalie, Ethan, and Roary and getting to see how they have changed from the earlier series. Then there are new characters like Sin who is equally hilarious and crazy. And Cain, who you want to see how far is willing to go to take a risk and break the rules. The story kept me hooked beginning to end and with an ending like that, I'm really glad to have the next two books in my possession. Though I'm starting to wonder how book three ends considering the series doesn't end there.

Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Book 5: Warrior Fae by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Warrior Fae (Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac, #5)
Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Book 5

I once thought one of my ruthless boys could be the killer I’m hunting. They’re all dark, deadly and more than capable of brutality.

But now I’m held by the King I’ve been stalking in the shadows and when I unmask him, he’ll realise he made a huge mistake in taking my brother from this world.

My Kings are coming for me, I know that in my soul. They’re on their way to rip me from my enemy’s arms and tear him apart for me.

My heart beats to the sound of their names.

But I won’t wait around to be rescued. Everything has led me to this moment and I’m ready to destroy the Fae who stole my brother from me.

Secrets will be uncovered. Destiny will be decided. Death will deliver us all in the end.

No one will escape the conclusion of this story without blood on their hands. I guess it’s a good thing I’m a Vampire then, because I just so happen to have a taste for blood.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Hands down my favorite one of this series! I can't believe their story is done though at the same time we know it isn't since we get appearances from them in the future books. Now I really wish I read these before diving into Zodiac Academy. This story ties up everything with the mysterious King. The last book ended with Elise being captured. Now it is up to Gabriel, Dante, Ryder, and Leon to get her back. They'll have to work together in order to save her and stop King. We cover a lot of ground with this story. And small spoiler for those wondering Elise isn't captured the entire book, we have plenty of other craziness that goes on until the very end. I love that the guys truly come together in this book and by the end they really and truly believe that they are family and they will do what they can to protect one another and be together. We get answers about Elise's past. The future of the gangs. We learn who King is and finally what exactly happened to Gareth. An emotional rollercoaster for sure throughout the entire book. And plenty of laughs from our favorite characters. And the end was definitely my favorite with the endless epilogues. No teasers on certain fates of the other series, but plenty of sneak peeks of this group's future as a family. Loved this story! And I'm glad I still have another series left I haven't read yet so I can stay in this world!

Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Book 4: Broken Fae by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

My Review: 5/5 Stars

After that crazy ending of the last book that broke many hearts, it was nice to see that no one was giving up any fights. Not if Elise and Leon had anything to say about. Leon knows Elise wouldn't be truly happy without having Dante, Ryder, and Gabriel in their lives, so he will do whatever it takes to show them that they all belong together. And if you know Leon, he won't stop until his goal is achieved. Their relationship statuses may be pretty complicated at the start but with the right nudges they will fight for what they want. Meanwhile, the Dante's uncle Felix is causing more havoc in Alestria as he tries to hurt Dante and his family and attack the Lunar Brotherhood more. And he has teamed up with King. The one Elise and crew have been searching for as they continue to look for answers about Gareth and stop King once and for all. Loved this story! So much happened in this one. So many truths are revealed and once again for every question about Gareth that we get answered another question pops up. Plus, I had read Zodiac Academy before reading this (and greatly wish I didn't because now I want to re-read those so I piece things together better), but things I saw from that series I'm starting to understand and see how they came to be. Plus, hints of the Darkmore series as well. There is just so much to this world. I also loved how hilarious this one was and how we got to know our characters better. Plus! All the bonding between the guys (a lot thanks to Leon)! But Ryder and Gabriel's friendship is fantastic. Leon going around convinced that these guys are all gonna be his new best friends. And even Dante and Ryder learning truths about one another that may finally get them on the path for peace between their gangs. Also Gabriel is starting to get a way better grasp of his Sight and gaining those he can finally call friends. But to keep the good going they have to get through the bad that was that cliffhanger ending! What a way to end. And I will be picking up the last one for this group as soon as possible. Time to get some answers and see how it all comes together in the end.

Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Book 3: Vicious Fae by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Vicious Fae (Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac, #3)
Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Book 3

The King will fall.

While I continue my hunt for the Fae who killed my brother, I have to try to keep my heart away from the vicious boys who could be responsible for his death.

But as my investigation leads me down a dangerous road and answers seem closer than ever before, I'm whisked away to the elite school, Zodiac Academy, with the four Kings and my heart becomes more vulnerable than ever.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Things are only getting crazier the more Elise tries to find out answers about her brother's death. For every answer she gets, another question arises. What she does know is that this so called King isn't one of her Kings. And is definitely associated with the Black Card that is sacrificing Fae and stealing their magic. Meanwhile, her relationships with Leon, Dante, Gabriel, and Ryder are only becoming stronger. Tensions are still high between some of them, but Elise is determined to be with them all. And if they want her they need to accept all who she is. By the end I really thought they were all getting somewhere then Fate intervened!! I know it works out by the end of the series, but man getting there is gonna be torture for some of these characters. All four of them are such great characters and fit with Elise in their own way. I can't wait to see how it all plays out. Another great part of this story was finally getting to Zodiac Academy and meeting Orion! I was someone who read Zodiac Academy first, unaware of this series, so while you get some spoilers about a lot of these characters, there is also some things you don't know. Like the story Orion and Gabriel swear to take to the grave about them meeting and becoming friends. Hilarious and if I didn't know I would love those guys, seeing their friendship forming would seal the deal. Plus we get other familiar faces like the Heirs as well! They are young and a lot lighter than we see them in Zodiac Academy but still a lot of fun to see them. Great story. That ending was crazy and I'm looking to see how everything is resolved.

Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Book 2: Savage Fae by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Savage Fae (Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac #2)
Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Book 2

There's more to my brother's murder than I realised...

Shadows in the halls, mysteries lurking around every corner.

Whoever killed him is covering their tracks well.

And now I'm walking a dangerous line between getting close to the four kings for information and wanting to crawl deeper under their skin for my own desires.

I can't trust anyone.

I can't let my guard down.

And I must keep the urges of my body separate from my heart.

But I'm starting to break all of my own rules.

I just hope I'm not falling for my brother's killer.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Elise is still searching for her brother's killer but with every new clue she finds, she ends up with more questions. Gabriel saved her being a sacrifice to some secret organization but finding them is proving to be very difficult. Could they be connected to Gareth as well? Her main suspects still remain on the Kings of Aurora but the closer she gets to them, the more she can't help but hope that none of them did it. Not when she has feelings for them all. Elise plays a dangerous game dancing with the Kings but it won't stop her. This story we get more flashbacks from Gareth and what he was up to and he was playing a whole other level of a dangerous game when it came to the Kings of Aurora. But his determination to save his sister is what drives him to continue. Elise finds more clues to Gareth's past and starts to get leads on those who tried to kill her. However, she can't seem to piece it all together just yet. It also doesn't help when Dante's and Ryder's gangs are skirting closer and closer to war. Another great book to this series! Can't wait to dive into the next one.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The Black Dagger Brotherhood world just gets more and more interesting. This latest book has a lot of ups and downs. Balthazar is dealing with Devina who has been possessing him. He knows he is inside her and just wants her out. The Brothers and the Bastards think she is gone but Balthazar knows she isn't. And he has been avoiding his home to keep them safe. And to keep her safe. Erika. The detective he can't stop thinking about. Erika knows that there is something going on in Caldwell and the mysterious headaches are the key. But so is the mysterious thief. And when she comes across him again she is going to get answers. Devina is still psycho. Want to punch her in the face several times and she has done some of the worst things ever in this book. Not only bringing back a fellow psycho but the deal she forced on Lassiter... well, I'm glad his book is next. Because he deserves so much after everything he has done. This book especially. Balz and Erika were definitely a great couple. I liked that she was more open to this world and her connection to Balz. Their banter was great and Balz himself is hilarious. I look forward to more of them in future books. This world just keeps getting bigger and the fight is far from over. Really can't wait for the next one!

Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Book 1: Dark Fae by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Dark Fae (Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac, #1)
Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac Book 1

What do a heartless Dragon Shifter, a cold-blooded Basilisk, an arrogant Lion Shifter and a brooding, tattooed Harpy have in common...?
Me. Elise Callisto. Vampire. Angel of vengeance. And a girl on a mission to destroy one of them for murdering my brother. I just don't know which one did it yet.

When I kicked the ass of a Werewolf who was high on a new and dangerous drug called Killblaze, his final words painted a dark reality for me.

The King of Aurora Academy killed my brother.

The trouble is, there's four kings at that school and each of them have motive and cutthroat natures.

Aurora Academy isn't a place for the faint of heart. To put it lightly, my town is the asshole of Solaria where the dodgiest Fae in the kingdom reside. The school itself is divided by the two gangs who run this town. The Lunar Brotherhood and the Oscura Clan. And guess what? Two of the kings run the gangs at the school, their hatred for each other so fierce I hear a day doesn't go by without blood being spilled in the halls.

I might be a petite, lilac-haired girl who looks like a fragile doll, but they haven't been introduced to my fangs yet. And they don't know why I'm really here. Or that I'll do whatever it takes to bring down the Fae who took my flesh and blood from me.

I don't believe in fate, but I do know this... the King who killed my brother is a dead man walking. And I'm prepared to sacrifice my heart, body and soul to ensure I get my revenge .

This is a reverse harem series set in the world of Zodiac Academy four years before the Vega Twins were Awakened. Expect some character cross-over, dark and hot romance, and a twisted murder mystery which will leave your head spinning.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I read the Zodiac Academy and realized at some point during that series that there was a series that came before it! So I'm back tracking. And after seeing several of these characters that made an appearance in Zodiac Academy, I'm happy to finally get their stories! The glimpses of them weren't enough and are so different from what I saw in Dark Fae, so I'm looking forward to getting through this series. So this story follows multiple characters but at the core it is about Elise. Elise who lost her brother and knows that someone caused his death. Her clue to his death is that someone called the King killed him at Aurora Academy. And there are 4 known Kings who run that school. So the question is who did it? And why? She is able to sneak her way into the academy as a student and investigates to figure out what her brother was up to and what led him to his death. What she never expected was to be drawn in by the four Kings, Gabriel, Dante, Ryder, and Leon, and for them to all have an interest as her as well. Also, flashbacks of Elise's brother, Gareth, reveal his time at the academy and what he was up to. Really loved this story! There are so many elements playing at once and you just never know what is going to happen. All of these characters are super interesting and I can't wait to see where this series goes and how everything plays out.

Loved this finale of the Royal Vampire trilogy! Slight spoilers if you haven’t kept up with the series! So it picks up immediately where the last one picks up and Ronnie was not in the best state. But lucky for her Alex was there to help her out. When Veronica wakes she finds herself turned into a vampire. But she isn’t exactly a normal vampire. Not with what is stirring deep inside her. It’s finally to learn the truth between her mysterious shadow. As Veronica learns to navigate these new abilities and herself as a supernatural, there is still trouble. The shifters are rebelling and the rogue vampires are getting more and more out of control. It’s up to Ronnie, Alex, and their friends to restore the peace even when those in the council work against them. A great wrap up to their story but there is still so much left of Shadow City and this world in general to explore! Can’t wait to grab the first book of the next series!

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I loved the Night Huntress series and was so excited to find out that Jeaniene Frost decided to go back and write book one in Bones's point of view! Now all those moments we wondered what he was thinking, we finally know. It's been a while since I had read this series, especially book one, so reading it in Bones's point of view was like reading something new. I definitely remembered some key parts from Cat's point of view, but seeing it through the eyes of Bones was even better. Bones is one of the best characters from the series so it was a treat to see his initial reaction to Cat and how quickly he fell in love with her. Definitely worth a read and makes me miss that world so much more!

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I've read book endings where everything blows up and everyone is in pretty bad places. But I don't think any of them have truly hit this kind of level of "oh crap." Everything blew up in all the most terrible ways and it is going to be hell to wait until the end of the year to get the last book of this series. So to rewind a bit from the ending that broke me. And beware some spoilers if you aren't caught up to the series! The story picks up almost right where the last one left off. Everyone has escaped the battle from the arena and are now fully rebels and in hiding from Lionel and the crazy Shadow Princess. Their goals now are to regroup and get plans in order to take down their enemy for good. But sacrifices were made to get to this point. The biggest one being Darius sacrificing himself to save Tory and Darcy from their fate in the arena. The star bonds placed on Darius and Tory are erased and they get a clean slate. No more Starcrossed curse and no more Guardian bonds. They are free. But Darius's life has a time limit and he plans to spend every moment with his Roxy and defeat his father so he knows he left her with a better future. But telling her and his loved ones is a whole other thing. Darcy and Orion are together again but with him being Power Shamed, it makes everything a bit harder when everyone around them is constantly turning their backs. Orion fears tarnishing Darcy's name and status and the rebels turning their backs on her if she stands with him. And if that isn't enough Darcy is still cursed but what that means remains a bit of a mystery. The rest of the Heirs are fighting alongside them and stay hopeful that their parents survive Lionel and can fend for themselves until the time comes for them to run. And of course a little bit of romance drama for them as well. Max is still trying to win Geraldine over and is happy to prove his feelings for her despite her arranged marriage. And Caleb and Seth... well those boys need to learn to talk to one another. Specifically Seth not wanting to listen to real advice and listen and jumping to the wrong conclusions. And I better see some improvement between them or I'm gonna lose it!

So much goes down in this story. I laughed and cried. So many things are revealed and we get to learn so much more about all of these characters. The character development from them all from book one to now is astonishing. You can't help but love them, flaws and all. They fought so hard in this story and the stakes are higher than ever. And that ending. Like I said it was intense and despite the losses and heartache, I can't help but feel like everything will eventually end well. They all deserve their happy endings and I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out. December is too far away, but I'll just have to check out the other books that take place in that world to find out! (Which I learned about way too late!!) Great, great book despite ripping my heart out a bit, but I'm optimistic that these characters will get what they deserve in the end and I can't wait to see how it all comes together.

Zodiac Academy Book 6: Fated Throne by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Fated Throne (Zodiac Academy #6)
Zodiac Academy Book 6

Fate has torn us apart and sometimes I believe the stars have given up on us altogether.

Without my sister, the world seems darker than ever before and the shadows loom thicker, rising up to answer the call of the Shadow Princess and changing the face of Solaria for good.

Now Lionel Acrux has the strength to make a move for the throne, I’m not sure how much time we have left to stop him.

Our only hope is to find the Imperial Star before he does. We made the sacrifice the stars called for and we’re paying the price for that decision so it can’t be for nothing. But with the stars turning against us at every move, and the last light in the world seeming to fade, I’m afraid we’re almost out of time. Hope is a dangerous thing. It’s the key to us fighting on. But it could be what destroys us in the end.

One thing is for certain, I won’t stop until I have been reunited with my other half and together we will fight to take our crowns.

A war is coming.

The throne is calling for a new monarch. And someone must answer its call.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

This story only gets more intense as the series goes. And the end of this one has me ready to pick up the next one as soon as I'm done writing this review. I can't imagine how I am going to feel when I am caught up and know I have a long wait until the final book. So much craziness in this one! If you aren't caught up you may want to stop reading cause some spoilers are coming. Darcy and the Heirs are doing everything they can to get Tory back. The spent the summer searching and searching and fighting Nymphs along the way and have had no luck. They need to save her from Lionel's clutches. But when they finally see her again, she isn't as they remembered. The shadows have consumed her and Lionel has her as his Guardian which means she will protect him to her dying breath against her will. It also doesn't help that he has spent weeks at a time torturing her and conditioning her to what he wants. It will take everything they have to get her back. There is also the matter of the Imperial Star. They still need to find it before Lionel. For if Lionel gets his hands on it then it is over. The war will end before it truly begins. Lots of revelations in this story. And that ending that changes absolutely everything. So, so good. Can't wait for more.

Zodiac Academy Book 5.5: The Big A.S.S. Party by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

The Big A.S.S. Party (Supernatural Bullies and Beasts #5.5)
Zodiac Academy Book 5.5

Once upon a moon, the wild wind whispered in my ear that the true queens were returning to Solaria and I made it my mission to open up their path to the throne so that they could slip right in like an oily oyster.

Now, on this most special and wonderous of days, the very day of their birth – I will prove myself to be the most loyal and dependable of their followers. Though of course, Venus is in my chart and Lady Petunia has caught sight of the bothersome barracuda once more.

Max Rigel is my most sinful of temptations, the shark in the dark who wishes to lure me to his sea cave and I don’t know if I’m Fae enough to resist him for long.

But one thing is for sure, I will make certain the Vegas get the big A.S.S. party they deserve for their birthday or I’ll die trying. Succulent squids be damned!

This is a 25k novella set in the world of Solaria during Book 5 of the Zodiac Academy series, Cursed Fates, featuring Geraldine and Max as they attend the party of the century and try to resist the lure of the moon as it pushes them together once more. It’s full of slippery salmons and more buttery bagels than you can shake a stick at and is best read after Cursed Fates.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Geraldine Grus is a hurricane. I thought being in her point of view would make a little more sense, but her thoughts are just as spiraling as her words. But this novella was a great peek into her and Max's relationship! It takes place during Cursed Fates. Geraldine is setting up a kick ass and very Geraldine party for Tory and Darcy's birthday. And Max and the Heirs are there to make sure no one unwanted crashes the party. Max meanwhile is determined more than ever to make Geraldine his. He's tired of fighting it and knows there is something strong between them. He just has to convince her of that. But Geraldine reveals something pretty big for her future and Max vows to give them a chance. Give him a chance to change her mind and her future if she wants it. This was a sweet and fun novella, giving us a moment that wasn't in Cursed Fates. I'm looking forward to more Geraldine and Max moments in future books!

Damn. That entire book was insane. And with so many books left I know things will continue to get crazy. Though so far in this series this one is a favorite because everyone is slowly coming together. So many realizations and decisions made and the stakes are higher than ever. Tory and Darius are paying the price for Tory's final decision about their bond. Though it isn't entirely her fault. Fault lies with both of them and now they have to figure out what that means for their future. The stars curse them to not be together but as they lay bleeding they finally open themselves enough to get to know one another and realize how things should have been between them. For Darcy and Orion, their luck is about to end. And the consequences are devastating. There were so many good and bad things in this book. You laugh and cry and that ending just about killed me. So I'll be diving into that one ASAP. So many revelations in this book as well. The whole gang is learning more and more and they'll have to band together to fight Lionel and Clara. And with how this story ended it will take everything they have to save their futures. Still reeling. This series just gets more and more intense. And I can't wait for more.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Probably the most intense and craziest book of this series so far and I know things are only going to get more insane! The Lunar Eclipse changed everything for Tory, Darcy, Orion, and Darius. They fought as hard as they could but it wasn't enough. Now the four of them must deal with the shadows that live inside them. Beckoning them to free them from their prison. They'll have to work together to master with the shadows. But tensions are still high between the Heirs and the Vega Princesses. The harder the Heirs try to knock them down, they just get right back up. Something has got to give. And a lot goes down in this book. Good, bad, heartbreaking, and amazing. Way too many spoilers to say exactly what goes down, but this series gets only more interesting and intense the more I read. And with that ending, I will be picking up the next book immediately!

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The week of the Reckoning has finally arrived and with it Hell Week. Tory and Darcy will need everything they have to pass each of the elemental trials and the Reckoning itself. While enduring the upperclassmen hazing every freshman. Lot goes down in this story. The Heirs are still determined to make Tory and Darcy leave but it is becoming more complicated each day. Caleb is clearly starting to have feelings for Tory and their hook ups are only making it his feelings more complicated. Darius continues his fight against his father, but his pull toward Tory is tearing him in half. He knows she needs to go and that he has to continue his cruelty toward her, but in the moments they let their guard down just a bit he realizes that his soul is breaking bit by bit to continue to harm her. But he has no choice. Not when his brother's life is constantly on the line. He'll sacrifice himself every time to keep those he loves safe. Seth is feeling the affects of losing the company of his pack but he feels a pull toward Darcy. And when he realized he made her the Omega of his pack that means he can't harm her. Max is probably the only clear headed one when it comes to the Vegas. He knows the importance of getting them out of there. For Tory and Darcy, they are determined to prove themselves to stay at the academy but they have their own push and pulls. For Tory, she is fighting this battle in herself for Caleb and Darius. She is having a good time with Caleb but this pull toward Darius is confusing. And every time she gets a brief glimpse of humanity, there is a follow up of cruelty. She won't let anyone in. She's learned her lesson and it will take way too much to fully trust any of them. As for Darcy, her pull toward Orion has finally snapped. Neither are willing to fight it anymore, but seeing as their relationship is forbidden... they have to work extra hard to keep it quiet. And if Hell Week and complicated relationships wasn't enough, the Nymphs issue and the Lionel issue is still bad. Another crazy addition to this series and I know there is plenty more coming in this series. So much happened in this book alone and I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to see what comes next!

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Things are getting a lot more interesting at Zodiac Academy. This story picks up where book 1 left off and it was a super nice surprise to see that we get more points of view in this book than just Darcy and Tory. I think it gives everyone a better idea of exactly what is going on in everyone's head and it makes the characters that much more interesting. So in the beginning of this story Darcy and Tory are on the edge of being broken. They realize just how far the Heirs would go to get them out and for a moment they decide that perhaps it is better to leave. But with the right nudge they realize that running isn't who thy are. They are survivors and they haven't broken just yet. They are stronger than that. So it's time for a little bit of revenge as they prove to those who tried to force them out that they aren't going anywhere. Darius, Caleb, Seth, and Max won't know what hit them now that the Vega twins have decided to play offense. Revenge is in motion but so are the Nymphs as their attacks become more bold. Plus, Orion and Darius learn that Lionel is up to something soon. War is coming on all fronts. I liked this story a lot better than The Awakening and I think it was because Tory and Darcy are starting to understand the Fae better and are getting better at fighting back. The two are finding their way. Also, getting a look into each of the Heirs' heads and Orion's head too explains their motivations a lot better. Now if only they could tell Tory and Darcy and we get some team ups against the true villains. I'm hoping that will come soon but until then I'll take Tory and Darcy fighting back and finding their way into this world.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I read this story when it first came out and decided to reread it when I received Eve of Destruction because I learn that this book comes after that and I'm glad I did because the story makes way more sense now that Eve of Destruction is coming out. In this follow up short novella we get Dakari, Jinx's sister, running for her life to find this mysterious Eve of Destruction who could help her get away from the contract the League has out on her. What she never expects is to run into the brother she thought died so long ago. Eve and Jinx are there to find Dakari when Jinx learns that their brother has finally crossed the line and broken the promise to protect Dakari and in exchange Jinx won't come after him after what he did to their family. But that truce is off the table the moment he has Dakari in his arms. It's time to do what he should have a long time ago. I'm loving these short stories with Jinx and Eve! And I'm looking forward to more from them.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The League world is one of my absolute favorites. It's been so long since I've been back in it, reading this short novella was both super nice and also just not enough. This is the beginning of this new short novella series. We meet Eve (Jayne's sister who we are super familiar with from The League series) and Jinx. Their story takes place way before the first book of The League series. In this novella we meet Eve, a mercenary who comes across a League assassin. Their encounter is brief but memorable as Jinx saves her from someone coming to collect a debt. But when she finds Jinx severely injured, she can't forget his act of kindness or resist the pull she has toward him. She takes him to her place and takes care of him. Jinx hates his life in the League. He was conscripted when he was young and does what he can to survive. We get the beginning of their love story and we see the early stages of those in the League getting fed up with having no control over their lives. We see some familiar faces like Nyk and Syn and a very young Jayne. And plenty of new faces as well. Love this world and I'm looking forward to seeing where this series goes and how it shapes the future League stories.

Zodiac Academy Book 1.5: The Awakening as Told by the Boys by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

The Awakening as Told by the Boys (Zodiac Academy #1.5)
Zodiac Academy Book 1.5

**This is a retelling of book 1 of Zodiac Academy from the perspective of Orion, Darius, Caleb, Seth and Max**

The Vega twins are alive.

Those five words circle in my mind like an oncoming storm. They change everything about the future we thought had been set in stone. They challenge everything we were raised to be and the stability of the entire kingdom.

They’re coming to our academy looking for the life that was stolen from them, but we can’t let them take it back.

So much hangs in the balance and we can’t risk the arrival of two naïve princesses destroying everything we worked so hard for.

I have trained in dark magic, overcome all challenges and stood in the shadow of Lionel Acrux for far too long already. I won’t let them come between me and his downfall.

Which means they have to go before they discover how powerful they truly are.

This is a retelling of the first book in the Zodiac Academy series from the point of view of Orion and the Heirs and should be read after you have finished the original story. It includes scenes from alternative points of view as well over 50k words of additional content and scenes which have never before been revealed. So prepare to step into the dark minds of the Zodiac boys and watch out for the heartbreak and carnage that will ensue.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

So glad that I discovered this series to the point where this story was already out because after reading this, book 1 told by Tory and Darcy makes a lot more sense. So this book is The Awakening but in the boys'—Orion, Darius, Seth, Caleb, and Max—point of view. And boy do things make a lot more sense. I wanted to know exactly what drove all of them to do what they did in The Awakening. Seeing how cruel they were I knew there had to be a reason. Something that was driving and pushing them to be their worst selves and we get that. We get those answers and realize that these guys will do anything to protect one another and those they love. Even if it means turning into the monsters they hate and never wanted to be. Now going into the rest of this series I will have a better understanding of their actions and see if it is possible for them to change and find a better way. To let Darcy and Tory in and even unite. Because something tells me they will be all stronger and better if they work together. Extra excited now to see where this series goes. Being new to this series I started with The Awakening then back tracked to the Origins novella and then read this one and I appreciate it a lot more because it gave me the bigger picture and I think I will be able to catch a lot more as I continue. I also wouldn't mind more stories in any of their points of view.

My Review: 4/5

So after reading book 1 of Zodiac Academy I decided to jump back to the novella prequel and I am very glad I did. I definitely get a way better understanding of Darius and Orion after that book. We learn a lot about them in that novella. And now I will definitely be reading book 1 in their point of view now. Because though I got a better of understanding at what happened to them to shape who they are in The Awakening, there is still plenty of questions left. So this story takes place four years before The Awakening. Orion and Darius are friends despite their age difference and because their families are close. But when the two of them discover that their parents are planning something bad, they can't sit back and wait for it to come. They need to know what is going to happen and stop them. But they realize there are some things out of their control and their futures are about to change drastically. Like I said this was a great way to understand these two and give me some answers. But there is still so much left of this story and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Brooklyn Bruisers Book 9: Shenanigans by Sarina Bowen

And now holy matrimony. Although we both know it can’t last, especially once his evil family gets wind of our Vegas shenanigans…

Contains: Meddling teammates, meddling parents, ugly jewelry and a pretend-kiss that nearly sets the world on fire.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Shenanigans is such an excellent title for this story because when it comes to Neil and Charli and all their friends there are plenty shenanigans going on! Loved Neil and Charli's story! I was so excited for them to get a book after meeting them in the previous book of this series. The story kicks off in a pretty memorable way or for Neil and Charli, there are some things they don't quite remember. They wake up next to one another in a bed in Vegas, hungover as hell and stumble upon some pretty interesting papers. Specifically marriage papers where they apparently got married the night before. As they nurse a hangover and rush out the door to catch a plane and not miss either of their hockey practices, they are a little late to realize that leaving wasn't the best idea if you are looking for a divorce. Apparently getting married drunk is super easy but getting a sober divorce is not. As the two of them figure out their plan of action and their feelings for one another things get complicated. Like how Neil has always had a thing for Charli and explaining how he feels about her may not come out right after drunk marrying her. And for Charli, she always keeps her distance because trusting others is super hard and Neil tempts her in ways that no one ever has. Plus Charli believes they come from totally two different worlds. Neil and his family are super rich while she barely has money to her name. That and the fact that her family is the worst lot. Though Neil's isn't any better in some ways. And when Neil proposes for them to stay married long enough for him to make a move against his uncle in their company, well Charli finds herself agreeing to help. How can she not get behind Neil when his ideas will help so many others? It also doesn't help when he promises to cook her some amazing steak dinners in exchange for every family encounter.

This book is just a ton of fun. Neil and Charli have wonderful chemistry and despite their differences are really great together. How can anyone not love the sweetheart that is Neil Drake III? And it will take everything he has to prove to Charli that he is crazy about her and that she can open her heart to him and trust him to have her back no matter comes their way. Just another wonderful addition to this series and I can't wait to find out who's book is next!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
