My Review: 5/5 Stars
What I’m beginning to love about this series is that no one goes without notice and everyone is important. This is probably my favorite in the series so far. We are shown a glimpse of Grace and Khalil in Serpent’s Kiss, and now we go deeper into their backstories. Instead of Wyrs, vampires, elves, and fae, we get a Djinn and a human who holds the power of the Oracle. Grace and Khalil’s story is fantastic. Throwing people from two different worlds, they learn from one another. All while being brought together by two small children. Khalil is a protective Djinn and Grace is a young woman surviving the loss of her sister and brother-in-law in an accident that had almost taken Grace’s life as well. At 23 she must be the mother of her niece and nephew.
The growth between Grace and Khalil is beautifully written where they learn to trust and rely on one another as a couple to eventually becoming a family. Harrison once again displays real-world problems in a paranormal environment that is too good to resist.
