Miami Piranhas Book 3: Playing by the Rules by Beth Bolden

Miami Piranhas Book 3

Ex-quarterback Davis Abernathy knows he’s on his last chance.

If he strikes out as Paxton Kelly’s coach, nobody else is going to call him. Not to get back on the field, and not to stand on the sidelines.

He’s got a lot to teach Pax, and as a second-year quarterback, Pax has a lot to learn. But Davis doesn’t anticipate the irresistible way they’ll be drawn together from their first meeting. He never could have predicted such a fierce and uncontrollable yearning—or that Pax would feel the same.

It should be easy to remember rules aren’t meant to be broken, and certain lines aren’t meant to be crossed, but the only thing that’s easy is falling totally, completely in love with Pax.

As Davis falls harder, Pax succeeding becomes just as important—and maybe more so—than resurrecting his own career. If he messes this up, his last chance isn’t all he’ll be sacrificing.

What he should be is focused on being the perfect mentor. But what he wants Pax is in his bed, Pax in his life, and more impossibly, to win Pax’s heart forever.

My Review: 5/5 Stars
I’ve been looking forward to Pax and Davis’s story. From the moment these two were on the page, you knew there had to be something between them. And in the last few books, you see how everyone else saw the longing and connection between them and the sadness that nothing could happen. Now it’s their turn to the tell the story. Davis was screwed over and his reputation ruined in the NFL. No longer playing, he has been adrift. But when Coach Dawson calls him to coach the Piranhas’s QB, he makes the visit. And meeting Pax? Well, that changes everything. He knows taking the job will put him to the test. The attraction and connection he feels to Pax is unreal, but they have to be professional. And Davis knows he can help Pax on the field. But Davis isn’t alone in his feelings, Pax feels it too. And the more time they spend together, the harder it is to ignore the fact that he is falling in love with Davis. These two were so heartbreaking to watch. So clear that they wanted nothing more to be together but do everything they can not to cross that line. And it takes a while and certain events for them to finally stop fighting what they are to one another and fight for one another. This is my favorite so far of the series! It was a slow burn but so worth the wait when these two finally got together for real. Loving this series so far! And I’m on to the next one!
