Busy Bean Book 10: Afterglow by Aria Wyatt

Afterglow (Busy Bean, #10)
Busy Bean Book 10

I’m a numbers girl.

Or at least I thought I was, until my formula fell apart. Back home in Vermont, with my dream on hiatus, I’m working at the Busy Bean and taking online classes. As long as I keep my focus, I’ll be back in New York City next semester. Hopefully.

When Declan O’Shaughnessy storms into the café, all muscles and tattoos, wielding his sexy Irish brogue like a weapon, the only equation I can solve is one that lands me in his bed. Even more dangerous, is my growing affection for his cherub-faced little boy.

But Declan has complications of his own. He’s cagey, but I’ll win him over.

Yeah, about that focus… mine is all on him. Can we have a harmless fling without getting hurt?

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The final book in the Busy Bean series and what a rollercoaster this one was! So much happened in this book and every bit of it was really great. I couldn't put this story down and it was a long one. Solana moves back to Vermont in need of a break. She has been through so much in her life and is only 22. She witnessed her parents death in a car crash when she was a child, was assaulted when was a teen, her brother was not the guardian she needed him to be, and her now ex-boyfriend cheated on her with her roommate. She continues to struggle with her parents' deaths and the nightmares and panic attacks have yet to cease. So she definitely needs a break. To keep herself busy and try to pull herself together she takes a position at the Busy Bean where one of her closest friends works. She figures if she can take a breather and get her anxiety under control, she'll be back at her original college by next semester. What she doesn't expect is to meet Declan. Their chemistry is instant despite the age gap. And for her, it is the first time she feels safe around someone that wasn't her two best friends. But Declan has his own demons to fight. He is a recovering alcoholic who is fighting that battle every day. Not only that, but he is trying to get visitation rights to his young son but his ex-wife is constantly fighting him and making his life miserable every step of the way. All he wants is more time with his kid and he doesn't want to do anything to risk that. He has been sober for four years and will remain that way because his son comes first. Then Solana enters his life in a light so bright, he finds himself drawn to her in ways he has never been with anyone before. She is the goodness he so desperately needs in his life and though he knows he should stay far away from her, he can't. This story had so much going on. And there were plenty of twists and turns the entire way through. I never knew what was going to happen. I was cheering for these characters to fight for want they wanted and get their happily ever after. And I loved every moment of it. Declan and Solana are such great characters and the side characters in their lives too made me want to know more about them to the point I thought they needed their own books. A really fantastic way to end this series!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
