Teen Titans Book 3: Beast Boy Loves Raven by Kami Garcia and Illustrated by Gabriel Picolo

Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven
Teen Titans Book 3

From #1 New York Times bestselling author KAMI GARCIA (Beautiful Creatures) and artist GABRIEL PICOLO, the creative duo behind the New York Times bestselling graphic novel Teen Titans: Raven, comes the romantic meet-up we have all been waiting for!

It seems like years, but it’s only been a few days since Raven Roth recovered her memories, trapped her demon father, Trigon, into her amulet, and had her heart broken for the first time. But she doesn’t have time to think about the past…she has to focus on finding a way to get rid of Trigon for good.

Garfield Logan still can’t believe he has powers that allow him to change into different animals, but the price of knowing that his parents kept this secret hidden from him just feels too high. And what’s more, his difficulty controlling these abilities could have unexpected consequences.

Both are seeking answers from the one person who seems to have them all figured out: Slade Wilson.

When their paths converge in Nashville, Raven and Gar can’t help but feel a connection, despite the secrets they both try to hide. It will take a great amount of trust and courage to overcome the wounds of their pasts. But can they find acceptance for the darkest part of themselves? Or maybe even love?

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Stories collide in this latest Teen Titans graphic novel. Raven and Garfield finally cross paths after they both have received notes from Slade to meet him in Nashville. As Raven and Garfield wait, they keep bumping into one another and soon they form a friendship. Neither want to tell the other why they are Nashville or the fact that they have powers but it will only be a matter a time until all is revealed. Meanwhile, Raven's foster sister was following her to protect her and it turns out someone else received a message from Slade. But let's just say he (don't want to spoil who, but trust me you'll love it if you are fan of some great young DC characters!) is a little more cautious than others. I really liked this one!! Gar and Raven are great characters and it was nice to see them start to trust again. Also that surprise character is a favorite of mine, so the fact that he has joined the storyline is super exciting. And with the cliffhanger, it looks like we are going to see more future Teen Titans making an appearance.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Hidden King Book 2: Dragon Heir by Jen L. Grey

Dragon Heir (The Hidden King #2)
The Hidden King Book 2

Connecting with my dragon may kill us all.
After completing the mate bond with Egan, things should be easy, but at every turn, there’s danger hovering close by. So we did the only thing we could--run and hide.

However, there is one clear objective we must handle despite the cost--protect the thunder.

With each decision Egan and I make determines the dragon shifters’ place in our world. We won’t go down without fighting, but I’m not sure we’ll still be breathing at the end.

If you can't get enough of books by Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Kelly St. Claire, Shannon Mayer, Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, and Linsey Hall, then you'll love this urban fantasy romance.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Picking up immediately where it left off, Jade and Egan's journey continues! Surviving the witch's last attack, Jade, Egan, and their friends decide they need to leave campus and figure out what to do next. Before they leave, they are joined by two surprised visitors. Dragons sent by Egan's thunder. Soon, they head to Sadie's to regroup. As Jade learns to connect with her dragon, the rest need to decide how to find this witch and protect Egan's thunder. But nothing is as easy as it appears. The witch is constantly trying to watch them, the female dragon who joined them tries to drive Jade and Egan apart, and they have to decide if they need to warn their fellow dragons to leave for a safer spot or prepare to fight. Really loving this series so far. Jade and Egan are a great couple who continue to build one another up despite how dangerous things become. Then with the surprise twist at the end along with yet another cliffhanger, I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!

The Marked Wolf Book 1: Moon Kissed by Jen L. Grey

Moon Kissed (The Marked Wolf, #1)
Marked Wold Book 1

You can’t outrun a curse ... trust me. I’ve tried.

My heart was left shattered into a million jagged pieces. To survive, I did the only thing I could and forced myself to play the part of the perfect girlfriend. The perfect daughter. Because no one wants someone broken.

But now, the boy who owned my heart is a grown man — hardened and cold.

Seeing Aidan four years later forces me to face my greatest fear, and realizing he is my fated mate only makes things worse.

Secrets aren’t meant to stay buried, and fate always has a plan.

That’s the funny thing about destiny. Right when you think everything is figured out, you get dealt a new hand.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

When Emma was young, her heart was broken when the boy she loved left her behind with no explanation. Now, four years later, she starts college hoping she can leave her pain behind for good. She tried to play the perfect daughter and perfect girlfriend to the son of the Alpha, but her heart was never in it. She spent her time trying to let go of the past but everything comes rushing forward when she sees Aiden again. No longer is he the boy she knew, but a man who is older and colder and who looks at her like he can't decide how he feels for her. Aiden is hot and cold toward Emma. She doesn't know what to do, especially when her heart reminds her that she still loves him. Turns out, Aiden left her for a pretty good reason. To protect her from those who wish her harm, he thought distance would keep her safe. But fate is a funny thing. They are fated mates and there are secrets still left to be told that will threaten any chance of them being together. Still making my way through Jen's books and I made it to this series! I really enjoyed this one. This version of her shifter books focuses on witches and wolf shifters and curses and plenty of magic. I liked Emma's character who was finding her stride in who she is and proving she is stronger than any of them knew. Definitely looking forward to seeing how everything plays out and what exactly this curse is on her and what it means for her future.

The Hidden King Book 1: Dragon Mate by Jen L. Grey

Dragon Mate (The Hidden King #1)
Hidden King Book 1

Sometimes, survival depends on not being seen.

I should know. That’s the only way I’ve survived. Getting accepted into a prestigious university was my chance at freedom; to escape and live without fear and resentment.

And with no emotional attachments--or at least that was the plan.

Until I see Egan.

He’s sexy, mysterious, and has muscles in all the right places. He invokes feelings I don’t want or understand.

The more he shows up, the harder of a time I have remembering why staying away from him was a good idea. But he brings deep, dark secrets that alter my entire world.

Monsters exist. Witches cast spells. And animals may be human after all.

I either embrace fate and enter a strange new world full of risks like never before or walk away.

Maybe, I'm destined for heartache because sometimes, love isn't worth what it costs to fall.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Egan was a character I really liked in the Wolf Born Trilogy, so when I saw he was getting a series, I decided I had to read it. And this one was definitely a favorite of mine by Jen L. Grey. For the first time, I really liked the heroine. In past books by Grey I was iffy about them, but Jade is different and I'm looking forward to more books with her. So this book follows Jade's point of view. She ran from her mother and super abusive aunt to go to college. She is on her own and ready to be independent and hopefully find a safe place. She doesn't expect to find that being safe means being with Egan. Her connection to Egan is something she can't describe. Being with him and staying with him both scares and hurts her. She doesn't want to depend on anyone and with Egan she can see herself falling hard and fast for him. But she isn't alone in her feelings, Egan feels it too. And while she tries to figure out why she feels this way, something is happening on campus. Women are disappearing and ending up dead. Jade is about to enter a world she didn't know existed. Question is, can she handle it? I really did like this one. It was nice seeing characters from the series before. That group I loved and I'm glad they are sticking around. And Jade is a great addition to their group. Great story and a cliffhanger that left me hanging. Which I've learned is common with Grey's books. Can't wait for the next one!

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The final book of the Speakeasy Taproom series and it was definitely a favorite of mine from the series! M & M are definitely one of my favorite couples of this series. After the end of a relationship that left Melanie feeling jilted and a bit insecure, all she wants to do is finish up graduate school and get her life back in order. To do so, she is going to school during the day and working nights at Speakeasy Taproom to pay the tuition bills and her small apartment. Her days are long and exhausting and she wonders if she is going to make it. But the bright spot in her nights at Speakeasy are Matteo. The single dad to a wonderful five year old daughter, Lauren, who is drawn to Melanie in ways he never knew were possible. Matteo has been on his own with his daughter since his ex walked out on them shortly after his daughter's birth. He never let another woman in, not when his daughter is his number one priority. Melanie becomes a bright spot to his day and only becomes brighter when he runs out of sitters for his daughter and Melanie volunteers. And when he sees an opportunity for Melanie to ease back from Speakeasy but still has a job, he offers her the position to be his daughter's sitter. Thew arrangement works wonderfully for Melanie. She has more time to study and since she plans to be a teacher to young children, she has the experience to watch Matteo's daughter. And she loves Lauren. And it isn't long until her feelings for Matteo grow. Lucky for her, the feeling is mutual. But a relationship between them is complicated and past hurts that threaten to ruin what is growing between them. Can they move past the fears to have a future together?

I loved their story!! Melanie and Matteo were such great characters and their story was so sweet. With the odds against them, you can't help but cheer for them to get together and have their happily ever after. Like I said, this was definitely one of my favorites from the series. It had me hooked from page one. So sad this series is over! But it was a great one.

Speakeasy Taproom Book 8: Stargazer by Wendy S. Marcus

Stargazer (Speakeasy Taproom, #8)
Speakeasy Taproom 8

Randall Dickson is coping. Sort of. An upcoming medical eval, one that could end his military career, has him stressed and making bad choices. So when a concerned friend issues a strongly-worded “invitation” to Vermont, R.D. is all in for a change of scenery, a temporary job as a bartender, and the opportunity to shake himself out of his self-destructive routine.

Then he sets eyes on his seriously sexy new co-worker…

Lily Reynolds, an artist by day, Speakeasy’s favorite bartender at night, works hard to stay positive, unlike her surly new coworker. He may be a treat to look at, but that grumpy attitude and terse manner are not her type. So when Lily finds herself in desperate need of someone to share expenses, she convinces R.D. to rent her vacant room. There’s no way she’ll find herself falling for him.

She’d like to find the secret admirer who’s leaving her secret love notes around the bar, though. But he won’t reveal himself...

This standalone contains: opposites who definitely attract, a workplace romance, and an opinionated French bulldog.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

In this book in the series Speakeasy Taproom we get Lily's book! A popular bartender we have seen in previous books, Lily is a ray of sunshine and generally happy person when she is at work. But she has a small problem when it comes to her boyfriends. She always picks jerks. And this latest one is kicked out the door after Lily finds out he is cheating on her. She never understands why she isn't good enough for anyone, yet Lily has the biggest heart of anyone. But R.D. won't let this get Lily down. Not if he has anything to say about it. R.D. comes to Colebury after his friend Griff threatens to drag him there himself. R.D.'s been going through a rough time since his accident that has threatened to end his career in the Marines. With his sense of purpose on the line, he doesn't know what to do or how to deal with the pain. Griff gives him an opportunity to stay away from the painkillers and get his head on straight. So he takes a job at Speakeasy and works his shift with his total opposite, the optimistic Lily. Then he finds himself as her new roommate when he needs a place to stay and when Lily needs someone to give her a sense of safety. They soon become actual friends and the attraction beings to build between the two of them. But R.D. doesn't want to hurt her when he has to go back to the Marines and starting something between them can only lead to heartache later. As for Lily, she didn't expect to start falling for her grumpy roommate who is so different than her usual type. Their story is a slow building connection between two people who see one another in ways no one truly has before. They bring out the best in one another. A wonderful addition to this series!

Speakeasy Taproom Book 7: Starlight by Christine DePetrillo

Starlight (Speakeasy Taproom #7)
Speakeasy Taproom Book 7

He doesn’t trust women. She only trusts dogs. Why can’t they keep their paws off each other?

Darren Reade builds stone walls in Vermont--and around his heart. Women don’t stick around, so it’s better to put up No Trespassing signs and focus on raising his adopted son. Darren is willing to do whatever it takes to help the boy cope with his mother’s death. But doing it alone is a challenge.

Grace Hollings indulges her love of old-school jazz by singing nights at the Speakeasy Taproom, and spends her days training service dogs, connecting small humans with smart pooches. Of course she’d planned to be married already, but a failed engagement has taught her that dogs make better company than men.

One evening, Grace and Darren don’t exchange names, but they do engage in a single night neither of them will forget. Is once all there is? Or can they train their hearts to trust what they’ve built under the starlight?

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I loved this story! Such great characters and a wonderful plot. Grace spends her nights singing old-school jazz at Speakeasy and during the day she trains service dogs. She loves both of her jobs. Her singing is a tribute to her grandmother who was a famous jazz singer and working with dogs to help children in need is so fulfilling and something she is very great at. Her luck in love not so great. Her failed engagement made her realize that she may not get the family she always wanted but at least dogs are better company. But then she meets Darren and things change. They have one night together and think that is it, but neither can get the other out of their head. And fate brings them together when she hires Darren's company to do work on their property. Darren has been even more unlucky in love. A tragedy broke up his first marriage and then just when he thought he found love again with another woman and her adorable son, she allows an addiction to take her life. Darren adopts her son and their bond is just as strong as if Kolton was his own. His number priority is to Kolton. And when his son may be in need of a service dog to help with his anxiety, he never imagined that the woman who sang so beautifully would be the same who can help his family now. Darren and Grace are wonderful together and with Kolton they are a perfect family. But things are moving so fast and both fear that things are too good to be true. Then there is another matter that threatens it all. Absolutely adored this story. The characters were really wonderful all around and the story had me turning page after page, unable to put it down. Definitely a favorite for me of the series! Can't wait for more.

Busy Bean Book 10: Afterglow by Aria Wyatt

Afterglow (Busy Bean, #10)
Busy Bean Book 10

I’m a numbers girl.

Or at least I thought I was, until my formula fell apart. Back home in Vermont, with my dream on hiatus, I’m working at the Busy Bean and taking online classes. As long as I keep my focus, I’ll be back in New York City next semester. Hopefully.

When Declan O’Shaughnessy storms into the café, all muscles and tattoos, wielding his sexy Irish brogue like a weapon, the only equation I can solve is one that lands me in his bed. Even more dangerous, is my growing affection for his cherub-faced little boy.

But Declan has complications of his own. He’s cagey, but I’ll win him over.

Yeah, about that focus… mine is all on him. Can we have a harmless fling without getting hurt?

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The final book in the Busy Bean series and what a rollercoaster this one was! So much happened in this book and every bit of it was really great. I couldn't put this story down and it was a long one. Solana moves back to Vermont in need of a break. She has been through so much in her life and is only 22. She witnessed her parents death in a car crash when she was a child, was assaulted when was a teen, her brother was not the guardian she needed him to be, and her now ex-boyfriend cheated on her with her roommate. She continues to struggle with her parents' deaths and the nightmares and panic attacks have yet to cease. So she definitely needs a break. To keep herself busy and try to pull herself together she takes a position at the Busy Bean where one of her closest friends works. She figures if she can take a breather and get her anxiety under control, she'll be back at her original college by next semester. What she doesn't expect is to meet Declan. Their chemistry is instant despite the age gap. And for her, it is the first time she feels safe around someone that wasn't her two best friends. But Declan has his own demons to fight. He is a recovering alcoholic who is fighting that battle every day. Not only that, but he is trying to get visitation rights to his young son but his ex-wife is constantly fighting him and making his life miserable every step of the way. All he wants is more time with his kid and he doesn't want to do anything to risk that. He has been sober for four years and will remain that way because his son comes first. Then Solana enters his life in a light so bright, he finds himself drawn to her in ways he has never been with anyone before. She is the goodness he so desperately needs in his life and though he knows he should stay far away from her, he can't. This story had so much going on. And there were plenty of twists and turns the entire way through. I never knew what was going to happen. I was cheering for these characters to fight for want they wanted and get their happily ever after. And I loved every moment of it. Declan and Solana are such great characters and the side characters in their lives too made me want to know more about them to the point I thought they needed their own books. A really fantastic way to end this series!

Busy Bean Book 9: Footnote by Alexa Gregory

Footnote (Busy Bean, #9)
Busy Bean Book 9

A moving second-chance romance where hope can turn history into a footnote.

Sasha Covey needs a rewrite. Or a really big eraser. Her past doesn’t belong in the life she’s trying to rebuild. Her future—and her recovery—depend on a fresh start. Moving to Colebury seems like the perfect test until Penley Brooks waltzes into the Busy Bean. The handsome veterinarian is just as charming as when she fell for him a decade ago. Memories come flooding back, and their connection is as potent as ever.

Trouble is, Sasha has good reason to keep her distance. Her recovery is still new, and the single dad has wounds of his own. After years of being an afterthought, Penley’s goals are finally within reach. As much as she aches to reconnect, Sasha won’t stand in the way of his dreams.

Somehow, that all melts away whenever she’s with Penley. Together, dreaming is a little easier.

But dreams don’t always survive in the real world. Not when the past comes knocking.

Footnote is a standalone small-town romance set in the World of True North.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

A second chance romance that tests our main characters in new ways. Sasha and Penley have known one another since they were teens. They a little over a year together before Sasha was gone. Their lives may have moved on but  neither forgot the other or the one kiss that would stay with them always. Now a little over ten years later, their paths cross once more and this time neither are willing to let the other go, even when the other parts of themselves argue that it is the best choice. For Sasha, she returns to Colebury to test herself. She has struggled a long time with an eating disorder and is finally on the right track to getting healthy. She tests herself by staying with her, well, awful mother who goes through men like shoes. Sasha thinks if she can make it through the awful words of her own mother, then she can handle anything. What she doesn't expect is to see Penley, the only man she has ever loved. Penley is working on his career as a vet and convincing his ex to give him more time with their young son. But when he sees Sasha working at the Busy Bean, all the feelings and memories of her coming rushing back. It'll take everything he has to not let her go again but to also face the fear of losing her from her health issue. Sasha and Penley's journeys in this story are long, hard, real, and so fantastic. Their character development separate and together has you rooting for them to succeed and face their fears and challenges so they can just be happy and live their lives. A fantastic story that handles such hard topics wonderfully. A wonderful addition to this series!

Lochguard Highland Dragons Book 9: The Dragon's Chance by Jessie Donovan

The Dragon's Chance (Lochguard Highland Dragons, #9)
Lochguard Highland Dragons Book 9

Over the last year, Jake Swift has constantly thought of the one-night stand he had with a beautiful dragon-shifter, one who left silently in the night. Determined to see her once more, he finally manages to arrive in Scotland at Clan Lochguard’s gates and asks to see Sylvia. She’s as sexy and kind as he remembers, but soon learns her secret—he’s a father and they have a daughter together.

Sylvia MacAllister has done her best to be a single mother to her surprise daughter. It’s not easy, but she’s determined to be the best mother possible, especially given how she failed her other children more than a decade ago. But then her daughter’s father shows up on Lochguard, wanting to be a part of their lives. Sylvia isn’t so sure about it, but she grants him two weeks to see how things go. The trick will be in focusing solely what’s best for her daughter and not getting attached to the sexy human.

Jake tries his best to win Sylvia, despite her doubts. However, between each of their pasts and family drama, a future together seems uncertain. Will Jake be able to convince Sylvia that he wants both her and their daughter? Or will he be relegated to a part-time dad, unable to claim his new family?

Full-length novel with a happy ending. (Jake Swift is the cousin of Ashley Swift, heroine of The Dragon's Bidder in the Tahoe Dragon Mates series.)

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I love diving back into this dragon shifters world. Especially when it is a Lochguard book! In the previous book we saw Sylvia admit to her daughter, Cat, that she was pregnant. But she was very hush hush about the father. Now we get her story. Sylvia lost her mate over a decade ago. Her grief made her struggle to take care of her five children which led to them stepping up. She's worked hard to try and be a better mother to them, despite them now being grown, but she also wants to try and live her life too. So when she when she is away from the clan for a few days and meets a human who makes her feel something for the first time in over a decade, she takes a chance and it leads her to the happiest she has been in a long time. She leaves without saying goodbye and soon learns she is pregnant with his child. But, she has no way to contact him. A year later, he finds her. Jake has been meaning to find Sylvia for a year now. But poorly timed work emergencies and a family tragedy has kept him from booking his trip to Scotland once more. Then when she doesn't appear at the conference they met at, he knows he has to find her. They may have had one night but the connection he felt with her was stronger than anything and he can't sit back with the what-ifs. He never expects to find Sylvia with his three month old daughter. And the moment they are both in his arms he knows he will never let them go. He just has to convince Sylvia to give them a chance.

I loved their story! Not only is it a second chance romance but things take a crazy turn for Jake and Sylvia that truly threatens their future. I love when we get a good action based plot mixed in with the romance. The stakes just get higher. Plus! The side plots were very strong in this book. We see the glimpses of the previous ones that were teased between certain characters and the beginnings of new ones that left me wanting more and wondering when those books will come out. The world is never ending and the characters only get more interesting. Also! Jake is the cousin of Ashley Swift, and for those who read the American dragon clan books, we met Ashley in that series and she even had her own book. This book opened relationships between the UK and US dragon clans which is yet another of expanding the world and an opportunity for crossovers between the many series. A really great addition to this series! Can't wait for more!

About the Book:

The last place Judson wants to be is back home in Burlington, living with his mother. Not so long ago he was a world-class chef with the lifestyle to prove it. Now he’s serving drinks and flying under the radar until he can get the hell out again. But when his childhood best friend reenters his life, looking finer than any entree at a Michelin five-star restaurant, he wonders if it’s time to update his menu of life choices.

Working through past wounds with Skyler won’t be easy, though--especially with a reality-show television camera following (not quite) their every move. When their loyalty is tested, will their newly built stronghold be sturdy enough to withstand the storm?

Stronghold is a sweet and sexy romance for childhood friends to lovers, with some creative use of maple syrup and a TV crew determined to keep appearing out of nowhere.

Vino & Veritas Book 15

LIMELIGHT BY E. DAVIES

About the Book:

Save the bees, ride a rock star.

Formerly famous . . . and planning to keep it that way.

After my band kicked me out, I ran away to Vermont, changed my name, and kept my head down. So far, it’s working and nobody knows who I am. Or who I was. Until I see geeky poet Caleb stumbling through his first open mic night and I can’t help rescuing him. He’s as sweet as the honey my bees make and sexy enough to make me rethink so many things. But I can’t tell him my secret, or I’ll lose the anonymous life I worked so hard to build.

Everyone warns me he’s too good to be true.

I can’t believe a gorgeous, successful winemaker like Tag is into shy, geeky little accountant me. But he helps me blossom and believe in my talent, and works his way into my heart and my bed… not necessarily in that order. I’m falling for a man for the first time, and now I know what the missing number in my equation has always been.

When lies are revealed, though, someone’s going to get stung . . .

Vino & Veritas Book 16

UNFORGETTABLE BY MARLEY VALENTINE

Add to Goodreads → http://bit.ly/2NVHpYG

About the Book:

One night with Reeve Hale wasn’t enough. I knew it when I kissed him, I knew it when I slept with him, and I was certain of it when I walked out of his motel room the very next day.

So when the shy, gorgeous man is introduced as our newest employee at Vino and Veritas, I can’t help but conjure up all the ridiculous ways to convince him to repeat that unforgettable night. Like asking him to be my fake boyfriend at my sister’s upcoming wedding.

Only, I didn’t expect him to say yes.

Playing pretend shouldn’t feel this real. Especially when Reeve is planning on leaving Vermont after the summer.

We agreed to one night. We negotiated a fake relationship. But I’m the one who broke our terms. I wasn’t supposed to fall in love and he was never supposed to be so unforgettable.

Vino & Veritas Book 17

SHOWSTOPPER BY REGINA KYLE

Add to Goodreads → https://bit.ly/3qz2xSv

About the Book:

I swore I wouldn’t do this again. Mix sports, school, and sex. But right now the only thing standing between me and the NHL is six feet of frenemy packed into a pair of form-fitting jeans that have me thinking all kinds of things I shouldn’t. Mostly how to get him out of them.

I don’t just want Kolby. I need him. Because I’ve got to pass this theater class--yeah, I said theater--if I’m going to keep my spot on the team. When tutoring sessions turn into dates-not-dates over Shipley Cider at Vino and Veritas, I realize it’s going to be harder than I thought to keep my hands on my stick and off of Kolby. Worse, I think I might be falling for him. But I’m not ready for that. I want to keep this thing between us on the down-low for now.

But Kolby hates secrets. Especially his own . . .

Vino & Veritas Book 18

UNDONE BY LESLIE MCADAM

Add to Goodreads → https://bit.ly/3itUL9C

About the Book:

My new roommate has the worst taste in men.

I mean, Murph’s special. He’s funny and flamboyant and full of life.

While I’m straight, even I can tell these guys aren’t good enough for him.

I had to yell at one date, toss another one out the door, and throw a beer in another’s face.

Kind of embarrassing, really. I don’t know what’s gotten into me.

I ask my sister what’s wrong with me and she says I’m jealous.

Jealous? Please. Me?

Come on.

Only thing is, I hate the thought of Murph kissing any guy. Ever.

Except, maybe ... me?

Undone is a contemporary m/m romance about a dreamy insurance agent that might not be as straight as he thinks, an adorable bartender who adds sparkle wherever he goes, and maybe one or two jokes about swords.

Busy Bean Book 8: Fireproof by Delancey Stewart

Fireproof (Busy Bean #8)
Busy Bean Book 8

The newest barista at the Busy Bean is about to steam the place up...

Former Marine Mason Rye can make a cappuccino with military precision, but he finds it much harder to serve up a smile. It’s not that he doesn’t like people. But he knows from experience that once you let someone in, it hurts like hell when you lose them. And Mason’s lost too many people already.

So it’s pretty damn inconvenient when his old Marine buddy shows up on Mason’s goat farm with his younger sister in tow. Heather’s work in Washington D.C. has turned dangerous, and she needs a safe place out of town.

Mason doesn’t need a new roommate, especially not a pretty, single one who insists on rearranging his spice rack and giving his chickens cute names. Although there’s no denying the haunted look in her blue eyes. Every time her fear shows its face, he wants to reach for her.

The problem is that she wants him, too. And when Mason breaks all his rules, they practically burn down his bed together. But her life is in D.C. And the threat against her is over.

Unfortunately, neither of their hearts is fireproof...

Warning: this stand-alone novel contains cute goats, bossy Marines and small town charm.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Mason was pretty content with his life before a certain friend's sister showed up in his life. He worked hard to keep his farm goin and picked up another job at the Busy Bean to help with the bills. Sure, he was a bit of a loner and kept his distance, but overall he was fine, right? Well, not quite. It isn't until his best friend calls him asking for a favor. A favor that involves letting his sister, Heather, stay with Mason for a while for her protection. Now Heather is in his life and throwing chaos in the order he worked hard to keep. And it starts to open Mason's eyes. Perhaps a little chaos is good. For Heather, she loved her in DC. She was fighting for something she believed in. But when she becomes a key witness on a trial against a powerful man, her life beings to crumble a bit. The man's supporters do not appreciate what she has done, despite it being the right thing, and are making her life a living hell. From anonymous texts, phone calls, and emails to yelling at her on the street. And when someone turns up at her doorstep, she knows it can't go on. Her brother steps up and tells her to pack a bag and get out of DC for a while. Leading her right to Mason. At first, she doesn't understand this perpetually grumpy man who looks like he rather be alone than have someone in his home. She doesn't even know what she should be doing if she isn't working. But the longer she stays and helps Mason where she can, the more she starts to understand that Mason's grumpy exterior is guarding a soft heart. A heart that has learned to shield itself or risk once again losing someone you love. They are the unexpected couple that realize that they just work. But can they have a future? Can Heather give up her life in DC if it is ever safe for her to be there again? And can Mason face his fears and let go of the past? A really great story! I loved Heather and Mason and so many new characters introduced in their story. Mason's backstory was heartbreaking and there was so much he struggled with as he was falling for Heather. A wonderful addition to this series!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
