Black Dagger Brotherhood Series Book 18: The Sinner by J.R. Ward

The Sinner (Black Dagger Brotherhood #19)
Black Dagger Brotherhood Book 18

A sinner’s only hope is true love in this passionate new novel in J.R. Ward’s #1 New York Times bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Syn has kept his side hustle as a mercenary a secret from the Black Dagger Brotherhood. When he takes another hit job, he not only crosses the path of the vampire race’s new enemy, but also that of a half-breed in danger of dying during her transition. Jo Early has no idea what her true nature is, and when a mysterious man appears out of the darkness, she is torn between their erotic connection and the sense that something is very wrong.

Fate anointed Butch O’Neal as the Dhestroyer, the fulfiller of the prophecy that foresees the end of the Omega. As the war with the Lessening Society comes to a head, Butch gets an unexpected ally in Syn. But can he trust the male—or is the warrior with the bad past a deadly complication?

With time running out, Jo gets swept up in the fighting and must join with Syn and the Brotherhood against true evil. In the end, will love true prevail...or was the prophecy wrong all along?

My Review: 5/5 Stars

We've waited for the end of the war with the Omega and it has finally arrived. And it was definitely not what I expected! Awesome, awesome story. Starting with our main hero and heroine in this book Syn and Jo. I was looking forward to getting Syn's story. From what we had seen in previous books, especially Blood Truth, you knew there was a lot to this character. And boy was that the truth. Jo we have seen in the past. A reporter determined to chase down the paranormal, but just kept getting mind wiped by the Brothers, but we all knew she had a bigger connection than the Brothers knew! Syn and Jo's paths cross and they are just another couple you can't help but love in the BDB world. So many threads in this book. Syn and Jo were one, but then we had the end of the Omega war and a return of Devina. From previous books, you knew Devina was book and that she would ultimately lead to the next big bad in the series. And from what happened in The Sinner it will truly be something. And she surprised me quite a lot in this book (good and bad). Now the war. So many great Butch and V moments and their roles in the prophecy. And like expected there were a lot of twists and turns. Nothing too predictable, because not being able to guess the end is the best. And trust me you don't guess this ending. I was hooked beginning to end. And just so many great scenes. It's hard to pick favorites, but let me tell you I had quite a few. There are always ones that make me laugh my head off (Jolly Rancher!!). Just so hysterical. But two of my favorites, that actually made me cry were at the end. One involved Butch, V, and Lassiter (that crazy Fallen Angel is just the best and his book needs to come out now!). And the other with Wrath. Won't say specifically, but let's just say you will know it when you read it. Great, great book. And I cannot wait for the next books Ward has coming our way!
