Austin Troopers Book 2: Provoking the Punter by TJ Nichols

Austin Troopers Book 2

For these polar opposites, the most interesting plays will happen off the field

Garrett Stevens is done with scandal. The drinking, the hookups…he’s over it all. It’s time to grow up and focus on his pro football career. The last thing he needs is a new romance. So why can’t he keep his mind (or hands) off the sexy bar owner who makes him question everything he thought he ever wanted in life?

Chester Monroe is too busy working day and night, making his business a success, to worry about finding love. Even if he was looking for a relationship, it wouldn’t be with someone famous. Which meant getting involved with Garrett was definitely a mistake. The easiest one Chester ever made…

When all is said and done, will the ghosts of the past—and the secrets of the present—destroy Garrett and Chester’s shot at happily ever after?

There’s only one way to find out…

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Garrett has never been comfortable with the idea of coming out. Not when there are always so many scandals with the media in general. And now he is the center of one when he is traded to a new football team. A wrong place at the wrong time type of situation that is somehow hurting him for not doing anything. So no more. He will not give his new team any reason to trade him or end his career. He’ll keep his head down and hope that enough time will pass. But he doesn’t expect to meet Chester. The successful business man he meets at one of the team’s charity events. Sparks fly and Chester sees right through Garrett’s mask. And Garrett finds himself wanting to take the risk. Chester has learned to hide his poor past in order to run a successful business. He’ll entertain media, like the Troopers’ team events, but he doesn’t want to be in the spotlight. But meeting Garrett? Well, he may have to make an exception if this thing between them becomes so much more. And with each passing day, there is a higher chance of him falling. But will he let himself? Great story! I was rooting for Garrett since the beginning. This guy deserved to be exactly who he was and not having to hide. He was paying the consequences of so many things that were never about him or his fault. So I was so happy to see him fight for his chance to be with Chester and not letting the fear completely overtake him. Liking this series so far and can’t wait for the rest!
