Campus Diaries Book 1: The Graham Effect by Elle Kennedy

Campus Diaries Book 1

Gigi Graham has exactly three goals: qualify for the women's national hockey team, win Olympic gold, and step out of her famous father's shadow. So far, so good, except for two little things. Fine–a little thing and a big, grumpy thing. She needs to improve her game behind the net, and she needs help from Luke Ryder.

Ryder is six-foot five, built, opinionated, rude…and sexy as hell. But he's still the enemy.

Briar's new hockey co-captain has his reasons, though. The men's team just merged with a rival program, leaving Ryder with an angry roster where everyone hates one another's guts. To make matters worse, the summer coaching spot he's angling for with the legendary Garrett Graham is out of reach after he makes the worst possible first impression on his hero. So, really, this compromise with Gigi is win-win. He helps her make the national team, she puts in a good word with her dad.

The only potential snag? This bone-deep, body-numbing, mind-spinning chemistry they're trying to ignore. It's a dangerous game they're playing, but the risks just might be worth it.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I cannot even begin to say how great it was to be back in this world! And to come back and now be about the next generation. The kids of the couples I loved from Off-Campus and Briar U books are finally here. And we start off with Garrett and Hannah’s daughter, Gigi. Gigi is her father’s daughter. An amazing hockey player who wants to leave her mark on the world. And for her that means making the Olympic team. But she’ll have to prove herself this season at Briar U. And in doing so, she finds herself getting help from an unlikely source: Luke Ryder. Ryder’s college team as merged with Briar U. Now you have two rival teams competing for spots on this new combined team and it isn’t exactly pretty. When the roster is made up of guys from both sides, it will take a lot to bring these rivals together. It also doesn’t help when pressure is added to Ryder to prove himself to get a summer coaching position with Garrett Graham. Gigi makes a deal with him. He’ll help her with her game and in return, she’ll put in a good word with her dad. Neither expect the chemistry brewing between one another. It’s stronger than either of them have ever felt. And for Ryder who isn’t good at talking or sharing his feelings, he can’t help but feel pulled toward Gigi and sharing things he never would have before. I absolutely adored these two. Their chemistry was fantastic right from the beginning and both were so different than what either imagined. They just fit so perfectly together. I just loved this story and I couldn’t put it down! There were so many cameos of characters I love, there were so many twists and turns to this story too! Oh, and of course, so many laughs. And we have so many new characters and I swear, they all need their own books. I cannot wait to see where this series takes us. This was a great story to kickoff the series with. And I cannot wait for more.
