Fairfield U Book 3: The Puck Chase by GN Wright

Fairfield U Book 3

Hockey is my life. It’s my only goal, my only escape, and everything was going according to plan. All I had to do was focus on the game, keep my head down, then get drafted into the NHL.

Starting my senior year at FU everything was as perfect as always, but sometimes just because you play on the same team, doesn’t mean you can play nice. And it turns out I enjoy taunting a certain teammate just as much as I enjoy being on the ice.

Daemon Forbes loathes me, but I love nothing more than fanning the flames of that hatred into an inferno.

Yet lately it seems that fire is burning even hotter than ever, and what I thought was a fun little game, is turning into something else entirely. It doesn’t matter that he hates me, it doesn’t even matter that we are teammates. No, it seems we were doomed the night we met and he found me occupied in his bedroom.

I know he has a dark past, and I know my sights should be on the ice and the life I want, but burning with him feels better than anything else.

But what do I do when the shadows that surround him threaten to consume me whole?

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Daemon and Archer have been getting under one another’s skin since freshman year of college. They play hockey together, but as hard as Archer does to be friends with Daemon (and that means getting under his skin in anyway he can), Daemon won’t budge. It’s not until senior year that Archer slowly comes to realize that this pull between them, this need to poke him and get under his skin, is something way deeper than just a rival teammate. It’s an attraction and connection stronger than anything he has felt before. And he won’t let Daemon push him away. Not anymore. For Daemon, he knew Archer would be his downfall. So he has done his best over the years to keep his distance and push him away. Because he knows that letting someone in is dangerous. He won’t do it. He has built his walls for a reason. His past reflects the scars on his body and he is still paying the consequences of it. He won’t let Archer, the embodiment of a ray of sunshine, be broken by his own darkness. But things are changing between them. And keeping Archer away becomes harder and harder when Archer just keeps coming back. And bit by bit, Daemon’s walls are being brought down. And it’s only a matter of time until Daemon won’t have the strength to deny himself the one thing he wants: Archer. Oh man, these two!! The more you get to know these two, the more you can’t help but love them. They are opposites in a lot of ways but yet not. They match one another, challenge one another, and love deeply. Especially when it comes to each other. You are rooting for them to figure out what they are to one another and hoping they will fight for it. Archer doesn’t give up. He knows deep down that Daemon doesn’t want him to. So he will prove to Daemon that he is there and won’t be going anywhere. And I love that Daemon slowly lets Archer in and lets himself have that bit of happiness he so clearly deserves. Really enjoyed their story!
