Chicago Thunder Hockey Book 1: Trade Deadline by Jodi Oliver

Chicago Thunder Hockey Book 1

BLAINE

When my name is involved in yet another scandal, I’m told to keep my head down and my stats up.
The trade deadline is looming, and I don’t want to leave Chicago.
But that night, I meet Alex. The guy with the bluest eyes and the kindest smile.
My reputation precedes me, and he’s determined to resist me, but the more time we spend together, the harder it is to deny the chemistry between us.
He’s someone who might make me want to change for the better.
But can we survive the slap shots that come our way, or will my scandalous past hit harder than any defenseman could?

ALEX

Being a lifelong Chicago Thunder fan, I know that Blaine Olsen is trouble.
Because all hockey players are.
He’s a notorious playboy, and I refuse to be another notch on his bedpost.
But when he shows me the part of himself he keeps hidden, it gets harder to resist him.
I can’t afford any distractions though. I’m up to my eyeballs in debt, doing everything I can to keep my head—and family business—above water.
Will Blaine prove me wrong and show me a hockey player could be my Prince Charming after all?

Trade Deadline is a low angst, hockey player/fan sports romance. It has team shenanigans, fast paced hockey, cheesy texting, no third-act break-up and puppies. It is book one in the Chicago Thunder series and can be read as a standalone.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

When it comes to hockey, Blaine is the best. What he’s not so good at? Staying out of trouble with the media. When the latest bad press hits, he is told to keep his head down or his fear of being traded may come to pass. But he loves his Chicago team. He loves his teammates who are family and his brother has finally made it to his team. They’ll finally be able to play professionally together. So Blaine will do whatever he can to be good. What he doesn’t expect is that later that day he will meet the person for him. Alex. Alex is a big Chicago Thunder fan. Always has been. And when he meets Blaine, he is amazed at the chemistry that sparks between them. But Alex has been burned in the past by athletes before. And his heart can’t keep doing it. So he turns Blaine down at first. He is shocked though when he runs into Blaine again and Blaine is determined to win him over for a date. As they get to know one another, resisting Blaine gets harder and harder and soon he finds himself wanting to give them a chance. Something tells him it will be different this time. So despite the grueling work schedule that him and his brother deal with to stay afloat, Alex gives himself a chance to be with Blaine because the connection between them doesn’t happen often. Blaine and Alex were absolutely adorable! They balanced one another out so well, bringing out the best in one another. This was such a fun story with lots of characters you can’t help love! I can’t wait to jump into the next book.
