Chronicles of Nick: Shadows of Fire Book 3: Savage by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Chronicles of Nick: Shadows of Fire Book 3

From the moment he was born a god of light and darkness, Xevikan Daraxerxes was rejected by those who should have embraced him. A child of both realms, he was embraced by none. His is a lonely path that he’s walked for centuries as he’s done his best to avoid the divine politics of his parents.

But one can only stay neutral for so long. Now, Xev must face his past and learn from his mistakes. The world is in turmoil and his best friend and brother are facing enemies at every turn.

The evil he rejected is on the brink of destroying everything he knows and everyone he cares about. Either Xev embraces the savage inside himself that he’s spent centuries caging or he’ll be the last god ruling over a vacant, hollowed-out world.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Xev’s story has arrived! We have seen Xev a lot throughout the series, especially in the Chronicles of Nick. It’s definitely nice to get his origin story. Born of Azura and Jaden, neither wanted Xev in their lives. Yet Xev would be bound in a way to both. He is caught in a way between demons and the Sephirii. Forced to fight for one side but his heart belongs to a leader of the Sephirii, Myone. Myone sees the good in Xev from the beginning and it doesn’t take long for these two to fall in love. But their lives are never easy. Opposite sides of war, meeting in secret, the two long for the day there is no more war. And things only get more complicated when Myone gets pregnant. Their son, Jared, will shape so much of what is to come. We get more details in this book about this war that we know ended with so many deaths and betrayals. I loved getting to know Xev more and the history. I also feel a big need to do a reread since it has been so long since I’ve read all these stories. However, it is still a favorite world of mine and I can’t wait for the next book.

Franklin U 2 Book 5: Full Service by Cora Rose

Franklin U 2 Book 5

In all of my years as a professor, never did I imagine I’d end up getting a lap dance from a student. But I did. What’s worse? He’s my new TA. And the icing on top of the cake? I can’t stop thinking about it. Can’t get him off my mind.

I’m Dr. Silas Sinclair. Respectable educator and a man with his head on his shoulders. I don’t break the rules. I don’t cross boundaries. And I certainly don’t stalk students.

Or at least I didn’t until him.

Everly Winslow is bad news waiting to happen. He’s everything I should stay away from, but I can’t. The flirting. The taunting. It’s constant, and it’s too much.

I’m only human and it’s only a matter of time before I crack and give in to my desires. When all is said and done, will I be able to maintain my respectable career or will it all crash and burn?

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Silas has a problem. The one time he goes out with friends and lets loose is when he has to pay the consequences a few days later. Because the guy he couldn’t stop looking at when he went to a strip club? Is the same guy who is now his TA. Talk about awkward. And Silas is all about being awkward. A shy man who is a bit lonelier than he wants to admit finally sees someone who interests in him just to find out that he can’t cross that line. Professor and TA. A 15 year age gap. Plenty of reasons to say no and stay away. But Everly doesn’t make it easy for Silas. Not when he feels the same pull toward Silas that Silas feels for him. Their age gap doesn’t feel like one when it comes to who they are and the sizzling chemistry between them. And though they both know they can’t be unprofessional, well, it’s only a matter of time before these two start breaking all the rules. Silas and Everly were just cracking me up this whole book. Silas’s point of view was hysterical. Poor guy was just constantly in a tizzy being around Everly. And Everly had no problem using that to his advantage to show Silas that the two of them could be something pretty great if they gave it a chance. No surprise that this is another great and fun addition to this series!

Synopsis

A year ago I lost everything and moved across the country to try and start over. It wasn’t easy, but I found a job I love, I have friends who’ve become my family, and I’m ready to start exploring my bisexuality.

Just when I think things are finally starting to go my way, I show up to work and find out the new guys on the crew are the super-hot couple I hooked up with last weekend.

F*ck. My. Life.

Now I’m stuck spending my days with the men who not only popped my dude cherry, but the ones I can’t stop thinking about.

The ones I have to try and be friends with after they awakened a part of me I didn’t even know was there.

The ones I can never have again.

Until one night turns into two, then more.

Being with Ezra and Wesley feels right, even if everything I was taught tells me it’s wrong. I can’t deny the pull between us, or how safe and seen they make me feel.

But how can two men who love each other as much as Ez and Wes ever feel the same for me?

Jett, Ezra, and Wesley’s book is a coworkers-to-friends-to-lovers romance featuring a lonely man looking for his place in the world, and the adventurous couple who can’t stay away from him. You can expect hurt/comfort, first times, found family, lots of heat, tons of dirty talk, some kink, and all the feels as this triad figures out that sometimes love is best in threes. It is the sixth book in this addictive Crimson Club series but can be read as a standalone.

Please note that this is an MMM romance with no cheating.

Wes

“You might have noticed Wes and I have a particular dynamic when we bring in thirds,” Ez started.

Jett smirked. “You mean the good top, bad top routine? I noticed.”

Ez chuckled. “Yeah, that one. But that’s not how things are when we’re alone.”

His forehead knitted in confusion.

“Wes and I…”

“He’s a top, and I’m vers,” I explained. “But I’m only vers when we have a third. I don’t want to top him because that’s not our dynamic. It’s hard to explain, but what we do with thirds is completely different from how we are with each other. That’s when we push boundaries and explore things we can’t do when it’s just the two of us.”

Jett nodded slowly. “I guess that makes sense.”

“And we don’t actually fuck a lot of our thirds,” Ez added.

“You don’t?” He looked between us.

“Nope. We usually just play in the back room, get them off, then we go home and fuck like bunnies all night.”

“But you had a hotel room.”

“We got it for Ez’s birthday. It was a way to have a night off and pretend we could afford an actual vacation and celebrate Ez turning twenty-five. We were open to the possibility of finding a third, but that wasn’t why we went to the club or got the room.”

“So you wouldn’t have just found someone else if I wasn’t there?” he asked, sounding sad and so damn young.

“No.” I stood as well. It was awkward being the only one still sitting. “I’m not going to lie to you. We were looking when we saw you, but that’s part of the fun for us. We scope the room and talk about guys who interest us, but it’s just foreplay. It doesn’t mean we’re going to do anything about it.”

He looked away, his cheeks flushing with color.

“But we both wanted you, and you wanted us.” Ez came around the couch and stood next to me. “So we did something about it.”

“Oh.” Jett let out a shaky breath. “Okay. That’s reassuring.” He shot us a wry smile. “Helps to know I wasn’t just the first guy on the list who said yes.”

Ez wrapped his arm around my waist. “You were the only one we wanted that night.”

“I don’t know how to do this.” Jett’s eyes were bright with something I couldn’t read.

“Do what?”

“This.” He motioned between us. “I don’t know what to do with this. You know so much about me. You know things that no one else knows, and you’re saying all this nice stuff, and I’m trying to remember that we’re coworkers, but none of my other coworkers know about me being bi. They don’t know how I look when I come. They didn’t see me beg to be fucked.”

My dick went half-hard at his words, and memories filtered through my mind.

Not now, I chastised both my dick and my brain.

“They haven’t seen our O faces either. They don’t know we like to pick up thirds. They have no idea that we loved every second of you begging us to fuck you.”

Jett swallowed at Ez’s words.

“We all have secrets,” he continued. “We all have things we keep from the people in our lives.”

Jett licked his bottom lip, slowly dragging his tongue over the plump flesh. His eyes flashed with heat.

“Do you want us to leave?” Ez asked, his voice low and raspy.

My stomach swooped and my balls tightened. That voice always did things to me.

Jett shook his head.

“Do you want us to pretend this conversation never happened and go back to figuring out how to be coworkers?”

Jett hesitated, then shook his head again.

“Do you want another night with us?”

Jett’s eyes widened. “But you said you only do one-offs.”

“We did.” I glanced at Ez to make sure we were on the same page. His look told me we were. “But that was before. We’re flying blind here too. We’ve never been in a situation where we’ve seen one of our thirds after the fact. We’re trying to figure shit out the same as you.”

“And if we do it again?” he asked in that breathy tone I liked way too much. “Won’t that make things even more complicated?”

Ez shifted me so I was in front of him, and he could lean me against his front. “It will.” He slid one hand down my chest and stroked my stomach. I sighed and relaxed against him. “It’s your call what you want to do.”

He chewed on the corner of his lip, heat and uncertainty warring in his gaze. “Are you going to treat me like I’m breakable?”

“No.” I pushed my ass back and rubbed it against Ez’s hard cock. “But we’d like to kiss you this time.”

His eyes rounded comically. “What?” he squeaked.

“If you consent, of course.” Ez pressed a soft kiss against my neck.

I tilted my head so he’d do it again. He obliged.

“But you don’t kiss others…”

“No, but we also don’t do repeats,” I said, circling my hips to tease Ez’s cock. His soft moan fanned over my ear and lit me up from the inside. “Rules change.”

What the fuck was going on?

I meant every word I said, and Ez agreed with me. But what the ever-loving hell was happening? I’d never once had the urge to kiss anyone other than Ez. Not once in my entire life, but I wanted to kiss Jett.

I couldn’t even blame knowing the truth about his inexperience or wanting to make up for taking his virginity before he got his first kiss with a man.

I wanted to kiss him. Just like I’d wanted to that first night.

“Are you sure?” Jett licked his lip again.

“Yes.” Ez slipped his hand under my shirt and rubbed my bare skin.

About the Author

What can I say about myself? It’s kind of like being the new kid in school and being asked to tell everyone a bit about yourself. Anyone else forget everything they’ve ever liked, thought of, and even their name in those moments?

A few facts about me; I’m a veteran, I’m Canadian, and I love books! I’ve been writing my own stories since I was eight and wrote my first novel at sixteen. I’m the first to admit those attempts weren’t my best work, but they started me on a journey of creating stories that has led me to fulfilling my dream of becoming an author. I’ve written and published in several genres under different names, but MM is by far my favorite, and I’m so happy to be able to share my stories with people today.

I currently live on Canada’s east coast with my kiddo and my cats. I have a shoe collecting addiction, and I enjoy taking long walks, discussions with friends, and reading anything and everything I can get my hands on.

Green Creek Book 1: Wolfsong by TJ Klune

Green Creek Book 1

The Bennett family has a secret: They're not just a family, they're a pack. Wolfsong is Ox Matheson's story.

Oxnard Matheson was twelve when his father taught him that Ox wasn’t worth anything and people would never understand him. Then his father left.

Ox was sixteen when the energetic Bennett family moved in next door, harboring a secret that would change him forever. The Bennetts are shapeshifters. They can transform into wolves at will. Drawn to their magic, loyalty, and enduring friendships, Ox feels a gulf between this extraordinary new world and the quiet life he’s known, but he finds an ally in Joe, the youngest Bennett boy.

Ox was twenty-three when murder came to town and tore a hole in his heart. Violence flared, tragedy split the pack, and Joe left town, leaving Ox behind. Three years later, the boy is back. Except now he’s a man – charming, handsome, but haunted – and Ox can no longer ignore the song that howls between them.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

This book blew me away. I was genuinely just so impressed by this story and how it reeled me in right away. Beautiful storytelling and characters and magic and so much more. I couldn’t put it down. There was just something about it that made it just so intriguing to read. I adored this story and I cannot wait to check out the rest of the series. So this story follows Ox. Ox hasn’t always had it easy. His father left when he was a kid and was told that he was just this big, dumb guy who wasn’t worth anything. That no one would get him or care much for him. But Ox kinda pushes past it. He knows who he is and knows that he may be slow at times, but he has this gentle soul and good heart that just shines through. And then things take an interesting turn when the Bennett family moves in next door when Ox is sixteen. And life is never the same. Not when he meets Joe who may be a ten at the time they meet, but claims Ox as his. But Joe’s family does as well. And Ox learns what family is in addition to his mom and Gordo, who looked after Ox and gave him a job at his garage. And then there is the biggest twist of all when Ox learns the the Bennett family are a pack of werewolves. New rules and new dynamics as the years go by. And I loved the way werewolves were represented in this story. So different, yet familiar to ones I have read before. And just so so good. But of course with the good there is the bad in the story when someone is out to hurt their family. And it will take a long time for bad to be gone for good. I won’t say much else because it is just a story that doesn’t deserve to be spoiled. I adored it. I loved Ox and Joe’s romance, I loved Ox’s found family and how he keeps his family together through the good and bad. I love Ox’s growth throughout the story. This book just had it all. The magic, love, family, happiness, heartbreak, humor, and so much more. Even better, it’s the first book of this series and I just can’t wait to pick up the next one.

Under the Oak Tree Volume 1 by Suji Kim

Volume 1

Most fairytales end with a wedding and a happily-ever-after—but this is no fairytale. The updated and official translation of Under the Oak Tree, the #1 webnovel on MANTA.

Lady Maximilian is the daughter of the powerful Duke Croyso, but she is rarely allowed outside her family’s sprawling castle for fear that her stutter will tarnish their noble name. When she is forced to marry Sir Riftan, a lowborn knight caught in one of her father’s schemes, Maxi doesn’t dare hope for happiness, let alone love. Her stumbling communication and his gruff manner sour their relationship before it can begin, and Riftan leaves without a word the morning after their vows are exchanged.

Now, three years after their disastrous wedding night, Riftan has returned as a war hero. To Maxi’s surprise, despite rumors that he was offered marriage to Princess Agnes, a beautiful and renowned sorceress, Riftan still wants Maxi for his wife. And when he comes to claim her, his longing becomes a desire that bewilders Maxi, even as she is overcome by the scorching heat that Riftan’s presence ignites within her. As she learns to navigate the intricacies of her new life, Maxi will find herself and her courage, and discover that she is anything but powerless.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

I’ve bee waiting a long time to get a physical copy of Under the Oak Tree. And even better, we are getting a novel and the graphic novel printed! I’ve kept up with the graphic novel through the webcomic. So I was definitely interested in seeing it written out in a novel form. This is just the beginning of Maxi and Riftan’s story. Three years ago, Maxi was married to Sir Riftan. A lowborn knight who has come a long way and is one of the most powerful knights and war hero. But the same night he married her, the next morning he was gone. Sent on his next conquest by the king. Maxi has stayed in her abusive father’s home. But Riftan has returned and is taking Maxi to his home of Anatol. While Riftan thinks she ignored her duties to have already gone to his home, the truth of the matter is Maxi had no idea. Maxi has been viewed as nothing because of her stuttering speech. She has been beaten among many tactics to “fix” her but to no avail. Her father has kept her in his home to avoid anyone seeing her. In doing so, Maxi has no clue how to be the wife of a war hero. But she will do her best. She will travel with Riftan and fulfill her duties in her new home with the hopes that Riftan will not toss her aside. But the more time she spends with him the more realizes that he has genuine affections for her. And that perhaps she can make a home here. It was really neat seeing the story so far in this form. I’m enjoying the story all over again and getting even more details than my first time read of the still ongoing comic. I can’t wait to get the next volume and seeing the story continue!

My Review: 5/5 Stars

That first peek of Joey and Nick from the Worthy anthology was most definitely not enough! So I was super glad when it was announced that they would be getting their own book. And the wait has been worth it! These two sweet guys needed one another and a happily ever after that is much deserved after all they have been through. Joey hasn’t had a break in a long time. When his dad died, he found himself raising his siblings when their mom checked out and was never around. And for everything that went wrong, she was quick to blame Joey. He has been living with a weight on his shoulders that seemed to get heavier and heavier as the years passed. He eventually managed to get to go to college and is about to graduate at age 25, but even the bit of distance didn’t mean the problems ended. Add in school work and hockey and being captain of the hockey team, his social life and just time for himself is nonexistent. And the pressure continues to build when he has no one to turn to. He doesn’t know how to ask for help. But things are about to change. Or at least try to. What he hoped to be an anonymous hookup turns into something more when he runs into Nick on campus the next day. And neither can fully keep away from the other. No matter how much Joey may try to. Nick knew the moment he met Joey that things were different. Is he terrified to let someone in after some past trauma? Yes, but he wants to be there for Joey. He wants something with Joey. In whatever shape or form that is. He’ll do his best to fight for it but hopes to be what Joey needs just as much as Joey being what Nick needs. So much hurt and comfort in this story. These two just need one another to hold on to and not let go. Their happy ending is hard earned as the two try to let go of fears and try to stand up to the pressure that has been on them. I adored this story! Nick and Joey’s chemistry was fantastic. And like I said, I was super happy to get a full story for them. They’ll make you laugh and cry. And we of course get glimpses of characters from the previous books. Definitely don’t want to miss this latest story in the series!

The Shadows Between Us Book 2: The Darkness Within Us by Tricia Levenseller

The Shadows Between Us Book 2

Chrysantha Stathos has won.

By hiding her intelligence and ambition behind the mask of a beautiful air-headed girl, she has gathered important secrets, earned her father’s constant care, and become a wealthy duchess—all by age nineteen. Now, she is only one elderly, dying duke away from having all the freedom, money, and safety she’s ever wanted.

Or so she thought.

Turns out her little sister somehow snatched the true victory away from her: Alessandra is wedding the Shadow King, the most powerful man in the world. Meanwhile, after the death of Chrysantha’s no-good, lecherous husband, a man claiming to be the duke’s estranged grandson turns up to inherit everything that should be hers.

Chrysantha is enraged. There is no way that she’s going to let some man take everything from her. Never mind that he’s extremely handsome and secretive and alluring with mysterious powers… No, Chrysantha wants Eryx Demos dead, and in the end, a Stathos girl always gets what she wants.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Chrysantha has spent the last seven years pretending to be something she is not. She learned early what she must become in order to gain the one thing she wants the most: freedom. So she’ll play the roll of the fool. To men’s eyes she will be nothing but a decoration. One no one would take seriously. And she’ll plan. She orchestrates so that she may marry an old man who is close to death. And with his death she will become the duchess. She will have a home, money, peace, and freedom to be who she truly is. And she is almost there when her so called husband finally dies. But her happiness and freedom is short lived when a man appears claiming to be the former duke’s estranged grandson. She will find proof of the truth. And this time, she cannot play her old role. She will go as herself. Not that it will matter because that version of herself is just as cunning and strong. But Eryx Demos has more secrets than she could have imagined. I loved Chrysantha and Eryx’s enemies to lovers vibe. A slowburn that is so worth the wait. I wondered how i would feel about Chrysantha. From what we have known of her from her sister, Alessandra in book one, it’s hard to say you would like her. But things always look different depending on the point of view. And I think these sisters have more in common than not. Definitely loved this story like I always do with Tricia Levenseller’s books! And I loved being back in this world. It was an interesting one for sure and I was glad to return for a new story. Filled with romance, magic, and endless scheming, you don’t want to miss this one.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
