| Assistant to the Villain Book 1 |
ASSISTANT WANTED: Notorious, high-ranking villain seeks loyal, levelheaded assistant for unspecified office duties, supporting staff for random mayhem and terror, and other Dark Things In General. Discretion a must. Excellent benefits.
With ailing family to support, Evie Sage's employment status isn't just important, it's vital. So when a mishap with Rennedawn’s most infamous Villain results in a job offer―naturally, she says yes. No job is perfect, of course, but even less so when you develop a teeny crush on your terrifying, temperamental, and undeniably hot boss. Don’t find evil so attractive, Evie.
But just when she’s getting used to severed heads suspended from the ceiling and the odd squish of an errant eyeball beneath her heel, Evie suspects this dungeon has a huge rat…and not just the literal kind. Because something rotten is growing in the kingdom of Rennedawn, and someone wants to take the Villain―and his entire nefarious empire―out.
Now Evie must not only resist drooling over her boss but also figure out exactly who is sabotaging his work…and ensure he makes them pay.
After all, a good job is hard to find.

My Review: 4/5 Stars
Evie is in desperate need of work so she can support her sick father and little sister. She just never expected to literally fall into the arms of her next employer. Or that her new boss would be the one known as The Villain. The evil guy causing all sorts of havoc in the kingdom. She is the assistant of The Villain…and she loves it. There is definitely more to her boss than meets the eye. And the more she gets to know him and those who are also in his employment, the more she believes that she is exactly where she belongs. And that maybe this villain isn’t so bad. Well, mostly. And when there seems to be a spy amongst their midsts, she’ll do whatever she can to help track them down. This story was actually quite hilarious. It’s definitely a more humor fantasy than anything else. What office humor would look like in a fantasy world. And Evie is hysterical. She’s clumsy, funny, sarcastic, smart, and just overall a really good person. I loved trying to guess what she was going to do or say next. Especially when it comes to The Villain. Oh, and his point of view scenes were so fantastic as well. I loved seeing his reactions to Evie. I’m sensing a bit of a slow burn forming for these two. Feelings are definitely there, but fully acting on them is doing to take a while is my guess. We have an interesting world and characters! I also thought we had a lot of fun twists in this story as well. I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.
