| Game Changers Book 5 |
The highly anticipated fifth novel in Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series sees a grumpy professional hockey player meet his match in an out-and-proud social media manager…
The hits just keep coming for Troy Barrett. Traded to the worst team in the league would be bad enough, but coming on the heels of a messy breakup and a recent scandal… Troy just wants to play hockey and be left alone. He doesn’t want to be in the news anymore, and he definitely doesn’t want to “work on his online presence” with the team’s peppy social media manager.
Harris Drover can tell standoffish Troy isn’t happy about the trade—anyone could tell, frankly, as he doesn’t exactly hide it well—but Harris doesn’t give up on people easily. Even when he’s developing a crush he’s sure is one-sided. And when he sees Troy’s smile finally crack through his grumpy exterior, well… That’s a man Harris couldn’t turn his back on if he wanted to.
Suddenly, Troy’s move to the new team feels like an opportunity—for Troy to embrace his true self, and for both men to surrender to their growing attraction. But indulging in each other behind closed doors is one thing, and for Troy, being in a public relationship with Harris will mean facing off with his fears, once and for all.

My Review: 5/5 Stars
Troy has been going through a lot lately. And a lot of it he has been dealing with alone. Like his secret relationship where not only was he dumped, but his ex was seeing someone else and now is engaged. And when he found out that he best friend from the last few years is actually more of a horrible person that he originally thought, well that was the tipping point. Troy called him out and the results were explosive. But Troy took the hits. He was traded to what is considered the worst team in the league and he knows his own reputation from the past won’t make him friends. But it won’t stop him from trying to be better than he was. And maybe even himself when he sees what it is like in Ottawa. Because Troy has been hiding that he is gay for a long time. He has never felt safe to say it and with this previous team and father, you can’t blame him. But from what he sees with this new team, he may just want to try. And that really has to do with Harris. The social media manager for Ottawa who is completely and loudly himself all the time. He’s sunshine and everything Troy doesn’t deserve but can’t help but want. Harris can’t help the pull he feels toward Troy and the more he gets to know him, he realizes just how good a man he really is and that he is really just needs a friend. But no one is more surprised that Harris when Troy finally reveals to Harris who he truly is. How can Harris not fall for him? I have been looking forward to this story and it did not disappoint! Troy got such a great redemption arc after seeing him acting so poorly in a previous book. But now we got to see past his mask and what he felt he had to hide for so long. And he proves to be even a better man when he stood up against the monsters in the league. He really deserved a happy ending after all was said and done. Great story and series!
