A Nico DiAngelo Adventure Book 2: The Court of the Dead by Rick Riordan & Mark Oshiro

A Nico DiAngelo Adventure Book 2

New York Times #1 bestselling authors Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro collaborate again on a new adventure in which demigod Nico di Angelo teams up with his half-sister Hazel Levesque to protect . . . monsters?

A few months after returning from the depths of Tartarus, demigods Nico di Angelo and Will Solace agree to join Nico's half-sister Hazel Levesque at Camp Jupiter on the West Coast. She needs their help in managing a situation that the boys inadvertently brought about: the demigods showed the monsters of the Underworld that they have options; they don’t have to be evil.

Now some of those monsters have taken up residence at Camp Jupiter to seek refuge. Nico and Will are on site, assisting Hazel when one by one monsters start disappearing from camp. A mysterious dark force is at work, and its plan is to punish all monsters for their past crimes.

Things only get worse when Nico, Will, and Hazel learn that they’re all connected to it . . .

My Review: 5/5 Stars

This will never not be one of my favorite worlds. I love coming back to it time and time again. And I have been especially loving this new series that follows Nico and Will! Their latest adventure has arrived months after their trip to Tartarus. And they learn that that particular adventure has led to some interesting developments. Nico has definitely been on the restless side lately. Used to always having to fight and be ready for anything, it’s strange that nothing has happened in months. So when Hazel asks for him and Will’s help at Camp Jupiter, he has no hesitation in agreeing. Yet what they find there is the last thing he could have ever expected. Turns out the Minotar aka Asterion and other so called monsters are tired of being well “monsters.” They are learning they have a choice to do something else and wish to pursue that safely. And they find themselves asking for sanctuary in Camp Jupiter. But that change isn’t exactly easy. Demigods have been taught for generations to protect themselves and others from monsters. So inviting them into their home is a bit of a challenge to accept. However, Hazel is determined to make it so. And with the help of Nico and Will, she knows they can prove to everyone that things will work out. But when their new friends start to disappear, they realize something else is going on and they’ll all have to work together to stop this new dark force. I loved this book! Nico and Will are favorites of mine so of course I’ve been excited for another story about them. And I love that we get to go to Camp Jupiter to catch up with Hazel and Frank! Feels like it’s been a hot minute since we’ve been there. This was just another fun adventure, filled with humor, and so many more Greek myths. With powerful lessons to be learned as well. I adore this world and am always looking forward to the next one!
