Punk as Puck Book 2: Pucked Up by EM Lindsey

Punk as Puck Book 2

Sometimes an anonymous tryst shows up at the rink two months later as your new hockey coach.

I have rules. Very important rules. No real names, no strings, no seeing each other again. It’s always worked out well for me, and it’s the only thing that keeps me focused as I try to climb my way into professional hockey after nearly torching my career.

I should have been king of the ice in the paraprofessional league, but instead, I let my anger and bitterness get to me. Now I’m forced to claw my way back into relevance, starting with a community team.

That would be fine if the one amazing, anonymous night I had with a total stranger didn’t end up being the Wolves’ new coach. And even that might have been tolerable if Hugo wasn’t on my father’s payroll.

But he is.

And to make matters worse, I still want him. My bad attitude and attempt to drive him away doesn’t faze him at all, and the more I push, the more he pulls me back into the last place I want to his orbit.

All I want is to join the PPHL and prove to myself that I’m a worthy player on my own merit.

Lust wasn’t on the table. And neither was love.

But the closer I get to Hugo, the more I realize that I’m not sure I want to do this without him…and the more I realize I’m not sure if I can.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Boden has rules when it comes to hooking up. One night and they never see one another again. And if they do, they never met. But he doesn’t expect the man he had the best one night stand with of his life to walk into his conference room a month later and announce he is his new hockey coach. That stirs up a lot of feelings for Boden. Like how he still wants Hugo but at the same time how he wants him gone. What does he know about this kind of hockey? Turns out, a lot more than Boden realizes. Hugo never expected to see Boden again. Even though he desperately wanted to. But it was better to part ways even though Boden made him feel things he hasn’t felt since losing his husband seven years earlier. However, whenever Boden looks at Hugo all he sees is anger and if Boden doesn’t stop sabotaging himself and his team, he won’t get where he wants to go. So it’s only a matter of time until Hugo finds a way for Boden to get out his anger. It just means risking both their hearts. Ooo man the angst in this one! Poor guys just have a lot going on for them. Boden just can’t seem to stop hurting himself and putting his heart out there but Hugo makes him want to. But it will take a lot before he can finally make the leap. I loved getting to know these characters and seeing what was going on with them. We gets peeks in the previous book, but it’s different now that we can see what they are thinking. These two are great together and deserve a happy ending. They just gotta admit it first! Looking forward to the next one, but I feel like that one is going to be pretty insane and complicated!
