Moonville Book 2: The Folklore of Forever by Sarah Hogle

Moonville Book 2

From the acclaimed author of Old Flames and New Fortunes comes a steamy enemies-to-lovers romantasy about a paranormal skeptic who is roped into a ghost hunting romp by the charming boy next door . . . who might just show her what real fantasies are made of.

Paranormal skeptic Zelda Tempest is hoping for a much-needed creativity boost for a new paranormal mystery novel. But despite the alleged magic of her hometown, Moonville, Ohio, she’s as stuck as ever.

With two witch sisters, not believing in magic is strange for a Tempest, but no one is more disappointed than Morgan Angelopoulos, the charming man next door. So, to cure her of her writer's block and her disbelief in magic, Morgan ropes her into a ghost-hunting romp, only for Zelda to discover something else bizarre, never-before-seen creatures that appear as ordinary pets to everyone else.

Curious about what else might be lurking in Moonville's woods, Zelda and Morgan embark on a quest to uncover the true magic that lies in their midsts . . . and perhaps, just maybe, they will find that the magic they're searching for has been with them all along.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

This author’s books are just so fun to read. They are nonsense and magic and delightful. I’m glad we got to revisit Moonville and get Zelda’s story. Zelda is the sister who has finally returned home. A witch that doesn’t believe she is a witch and is waiting for her sisters to finally admit that they are full of nonsense. When really Zelda has lost that belief in herself and we get to see her find her way back to it. Zelda is a writer in a slump. She just can’t seem to find the next story to write. And though she falls down her many rabbit holes of research of random things, nothing is proving to be helpful for her next book. Then there is Morgan. The distracting and flirting man who is determined to win Zelda over. And it’s cute until we realize his ulterior motives. I then spent the rest of the book determined not to like him, much like Zelda herself, but you find that it is quite impossible to do so. He wins you over just as he wins Zelda over. Because though Zelda tries to keep her distance, she finds that her and Morgan are constantly drawn back to one another and the magic both are eager to find. Overall, this was another fun book in this series. The characters are the best part. They are just hilarious. Their banter and personalities just have me hooked to want to know what they are going to do or say next. The magic is unique and quirky and overall, just another fun story to get into. Hoping the last sister gets her book because I’m not ready to say goodbye to this series just yet!
