My Review: 4/5 Stars
Jack has had quite the year. And it started when his longterm boyfriend, Rhett, decided that when he proposed marriage it came with an ultimatum. Jack should give up his hockey dreams. He’s been in the AHL a while and unlike Rhett who is in the NHL, clearly it’s not working. And after giving up, marry Rhett. Heartbroken that this is what their relationship has come to, Jack decides to pursue his dreams. But the season that followed the break up wasn’t his best. His stats were lower than ever and still no looks to be moved up. He’s not happy and his new view on relationships is no love and just hook ups. But then one night with Mercy, will that is the first time he is tempted to have someone in his bed again, so he leaves. But too bad for him, Mercy ends up his new coach. And it is just the beginning of what is a very long and hard earned romance. Mercy is the oldest of his siblings. Most of which are his half siblings because his father just can’t seem to stop getting women pregnant and Mercy finds himself more of the father figure than anything. And there is apparently a new half-sibling on the way. They are drowning, until Mercy gets an offer to coach hockey again. He realizes he has to take it (after some encouragement from most of his siblings). It will help them financially and he’ll get to live his dream again. But he never expects to see Jack again. Like Jack, his rule was stay away from love and just do the hook up life. But one night with Jack and he knew he was different. But now he is his coach. They have to stay professional… or at least they try. This story was a long journey for them. Neither were in a good place for a relationship. Jack’s ex still causes trouble, Mercy has his family to look after. But the chemistry between them is stronger than either expected. They’ll clash and clash until they have no choice but to give in. And these guys don’t realize that giving in means adding their hearts to the mix. It’s clear as the story goes on that these two fit way better than anyone else that came before them. It’s a hard earned happily ever after for them and even by the end, their story feels like it’s only just beginning all over again! Can’t wait to check out the rest of this series.
