Dark Olympus Book 8: Sweet Obsession by Katee Robert

Dark Olympus Book 8

He was mine to protect. Mine to adore. Mine to lose forever.

Icarus may not have flown particularly close to the sun, but he has fallen…right into the rough hands of Olympus's own Poseidon. Being held captive by the gentle giant wouldn't be so bad if Olympus wasn't on the eve of destruction…or if Poseidon stopped looking at him with those irresistibly stormy eyes.

Poseidon doesn't have time to babysit his increasingly bratty prisoner, but he has no Olympus is officially at war, and someone has to keep their best bargaining chip out of harm's way. The thing is, the longer Poseidon is with Icarus, the more he starts to care for his sworn enemy...and the more he realizes that Icarus isn't the villain he's been made out to be. There's a warmth to him, a vulnerability, that Poseidon finds difficult to ignore or deny.

Now with Circe and the Aeaens at the gate and Olympus a hair's breadth away from falling, Poseidon will have to make a difficult about himself, about his allegiances, and about the man who woke his heart from its long slumber only to threaten to break it for good...

A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Poseidon and Icarus.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Picking up where the last book left off, Icarus finds himself in Poseidon’s custody. His father is dead and his sister is safe. But him? Not so much. While others in the Thirteen might want him dead for his father’s deeds, Poseidon proves to be different from the rest of them. Icarus is waiting for the other shoe to drop. To watch Poseidon reveal his true colors and be the man the others seem to be. But to his surprise, he is the opposite. Kind, good hearted, gentle, and determined to protect his people. And what starts off as a plan to try and seduce Poseidon to guarantee his safety, something Poseidon sees right through, Icarus finds that he truly just wants to be with Poseidon. And that maybe everything he has done, the blackmail against Circe’s generals, can be used to help Poseidon. Poseidon knows falling for his enemy is a bad idea. And even when he can read Icarus’s intentions, he can see past the mask. And what he sees is a good man, one who has never been treated right or protected. And as they spend time together and prepare for this fight against Circe, the more they realize just how much they understand one another. Poseidon is definitely one of our gentler characters of this series. I loved him! And it makes me wish we saw a lot more of him before his book. We get to see exactly who he is and how Icarus fits him so well and vice versa. Icarus has been through a lot and has done what he can to survive. He knows not to expect kindness and always search for the ulterior motive, but Poseidon keeps surprising him and it’s no wonder he falls for the guy. Another great book to this series. We are reaching the end and I cannot wait especially for this next book.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
