Shadow City Demon Wolf Book 1: Ruined Mate by Jen L. Grey

Demon Wolf Book 1

Some things are better left forgotten.

Dreams taunt me, filling me with questions even more so than the supernatural world I’d only just learned about. Making matters worse, a vampire attacked me while I was alone in the middle of the night.

Death was imminent until a silver wolf saved me.

A silver wolf who shifted into the most gorgeous man I'd ever seen, and no matter how hard I try to ignore it, there’s something pulling me toward him.

Secrets come to light, and nothing is as it seemed.

I'm being hunted.

The silver wolf vows to protect me, no matter the cost, but the stakes are becoming too high. Not only are we fighting an unseen enemy, but we're battling the forbidden attraction between us.

Leaving the only home I've ever known behind, I’m forced to face my destiny as the ones I love struggle to stay alive.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

We finally get Cyrus’s book and who better to match him with than Annie? The two of them are more alike than either realize. But the nightmares that plague her every night are getting worse and worse. Worse, when she wakes up she can’t remember them. And then Eliza, her foster mom, and Ronnie, her sister, reveal something that changes everything she knows about herself. As Annie deals with new these new revelations she is also trying to protect her heart from the pull and push that is Cyrus. Cyrus is as drawn to Annie as she to him but doesn’t think he deserves to be someone so great as Annie. What will take for the two of them to find their happiness? Especially when an enemy lies in the shadows… Great book! Really loving this world and these characters. And I can’t wait to see the rest of Annie and Cyrus’s story!

Dark Hunter Series Book 28: Shadow Fallen by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Shadow Fallen (Dream-Hunters, #6)
Dark Hunter Series Book 28

#1 New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon returns with Shadow Fallen, a brand-new entry in her Dream-Hunter series.

For centuries, Ariel has fought the forces of evil. Her task was to protect the souls of innocent mortals when they die. Captured by a powerful sorceress, she is transformed into a human who has no memory of her real life or calling.

And is plunked into the middle of the Norman invasion of England.

Cursed the moment he was born with a "demonic deformity," Valteri wants nothing of this earth except to depart it and will do his duty to his king until then. When a strange noblewoman is brought before him, Valteri realizes he has met her before…in his dreams. When others come for her, bringing with them preternatural predators, he is faced with a destiny he had no idea was waiting. One he wants no part of.

The truth is that Valteri isn’t just a knight of William the Conqueror. He is the son of one of the deadliest powers in existence, and if he doesn’t restore Ariel to her place, she is not the only one who will be in peril. The world itself hangs in the balance, and he is the necessary key to hold back the powers of evil. But only if he can find a way to work with the woman who stands for everything in the universe he hates.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

So great to step back into the Dark Hunter world after so long! This story we get some new faces in our heroes Ariel and Valteri. When Ariel, an Arel, is cursed by a witch, she loses her memories of who she was and her purpose. The witch curses her to fall in love and watch the one she loves die in her arms. Valteri is a warrior who does his duty for his brother the king. While rumors have circled him his entire life for being the son of the demon, he has always known he would be alone. That no one shall ever love him. That is until he meets Ariel. This story focuses on the battle between good and bad when it comes to Noir and those who fight against him. We get familiar faces such as Thorn and Shadow who always make these stories better with their hilarious personalities. Nothing ever gets boring with those two. Plus a few other familiar faces and names as well. I will admit this one was a little bit slow for me to get into but once you hit a point, it is just another great addition to the series. The world building and the combination of so many mythologies has always pulled me in for this series and with every book you get a new piece of information. Looking forward to the next one!

Lochguard Highland Dragons Book 10: The Dragon's Memory by Jessie Donovan

The Dragon's Memory (Lochguard Highland Dragons Book 10)
Lochguard Highland Dragons Book 10

Needing to get away from the female he’s loved for years—one who only thinks of him as a friend—Logan Lamont finally decides to travel to Edinburgh to complete his doctor’s studies, hoping the distance will help him forget his feelings. However, when Emma asks him to accompany her one last time on one of her geocaching—a modern form of “treasure hunting”—adventures, he can’t say no to her. And just as she ascends one of the mountains to locate her next clue, Logan notices the rock slide and pushes her out of the way. He’s hit, tumbles off the side, and loses consciousness right before he hits the water of the loch below.

Emma MacAllister is after the biggest find of her life, one that could set her up nicely and help her realize her dream of setting up a senior center where humans and dragon-shifters can mingle. She feels in her gut she’s close, but before she can reach the next clue, rocks fall and Logan shoves her to safety. Even though he falls into the loch, she’s able to save him. However, when he wakes up, he has no memory of anyone on Lochguard, including her.

As Emma realizes how important Logan is to her now that he can’t remember her, she starts receiving threats about certain clues and staying away, or else. But when amnesiac Logan encourages to take them on, she’s torn. However, soon she doesn’t have a choice, not if she wants to protect those she loves and convince Logan of how much she wants him as her mate.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Back in Lochguard and we get another MacAllister book! Emma has only ever wanted one thing: to never fall in love. She watched her mother spiral for years after losing her mate and Emma never wanted to be that vulnerable. She never wanted to love someone and face the pain of losing them. But everything changes when her best friend is hurt. Logan has loved Emma for so long. But has stayed in the background and accepting that she doesn't feel anything for him. However, that doesn't mean he wouldn't do anything for her. Including shoving her from harm's way and getting hurt himself. Logan ends up with a head injury and forgets who he is and everyone he knows. His dragon is even silent. In result, a side of him that he had long buried after watching those he loves leave, emerges. A side that may not remember Emma but knows she is the one for him. Emma will be forced to confront the feelings she once had for Logan. And if that isn't enough, when Logan got hurt Emma was on a geocaching hunt where the prize will help her clan. But things get complicated when the DDA and the dragon hunters get involved. Emma will need the help of Logan and those of her clan to find the prize. Loved this story! Logan and Emma were such great characters and of course it is always fun seeing characters from past books. You can't help but cheer for Logan to finally get the woman he loved and hope that he can get his memories back. And for Emma to finally see what was always right in front of her and worth fighting for. Great story! Can't wait for the next one.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I can't believe we have finally made it to the end of this series! The first book of this series had kicked off the Rick Riordan Presents imprint and they couldn't have picked a better series. It has to be my favorite that has come out of that imprint so far. And this one in particular was one of the best in the series. Each book truly does get better and better. Hinduism mythology is one I am not super familiar with but I loved learning it through Aru's story. This final book picked up shortly where the last one left off which was a pretty major cliffhanger. Our heroes, Aru, Brynne, and Mini are left in a pretty tight spot after Kara betrayed them and destroyed their godly weapons. Now it is up to them along with Aiden, Rudy, an the twins to finish this war once and for all. They need to get to the nectar of immortality before the Sleeper. But of course there will be some challenges along the way. And ones they wouldn't expect. They'll have to look deep within themselves and overcome their fears and insecurities in order to prove themselves once and for all. This story truly showed the character development of all these amazing characters. They have come so far. They have grown up so much. And in the end they learned what it meant to be a hero. Loved this conclusion to this series. Though I have to wonder if there could be more in this world. A little tidbit at the end sounded like that could be a possibility. I would love to continue reading stories from this world. It was such a fun one to be in! Great, great story.

Hard Play Book 4: Kiss Hard by Nalini Singh

Kiss Hard (Hard Play, #4)
Hard Play Book 4

New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh brings you a sinfully playful contemporary romance between two sworn enemies turned partners in crime...

Daniel Esera is a young god on the rugby field, a sexy and charming man who's got the world at his feet. There's just one problem: his sudden potent attraction to his number one nemesis--Catie River. No. Just no. Not happening.

Catie River is on her way to Paralympic gold, and she's not about to allow Danny "Hotshot" Esera to derail her plans. Too bad her body isn't cooperating. Even worse? Her heart might be coming along for the ride. No. Nope. Never.

The pair are united in their desire to remain enemies... until a stranger's reckless action threatens both their careers. Now, the only way out for Catie and Danny is to pretend to be in a relationship. How bad can it be? They're adults in full control of their hormones and their hearts. There will be no kissing. No PDA. And definitely no falling in love.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Been waiting very patiently for this story! Been rooting for Danny and Catie since we met Catie in Cherish Hard and saw their first interaction together. These nemeses were definitely meant to be together and I absolutely adored their story. Danny and Catie have always said the other was their nemesis. Though they tease and prank and give one another a hard time, they never have disliked the other. Their friendship has built over ten years. And when a situation causes them to be in close proximity, it finally makes both of them look at the other a little differently. That small moment sets off a chain of events that has them wondering why they never got together earlier. So their story starts when Catie rescues Danny when they happen to be at the same club with friends. Danny's drink is spiked and Catie is able to get him to her mom's apartment that her friends and her were staying at for the getaway. To avoid any bad media, their friend tells everyone that they had slipped away to be together. Sparking an instant reaction. Fans love them together and their friends are all yelling finally! They decide to keep up the charade so neither will get bad press, though let their family in on the fake relationship. Yet, when they spend this one on one time they realize that there is a chance of something between them. But only if both are brave enough to take it. Danny has been in his head on the rugby field and Catie's father never being there for her has made her guard her heart so fiercely. But together they can break down the walls of the other. Loved these two. Their story was just so sweet. Danny is just another great guy in the Bishop Esera family. And I loved seeing everyone in the family and what they were currently up to! Specifically Gabriel and Charlotte since they have been my favorite since day one. But Danny and Catie's story was hilarious and sweet and one I couldn't put down. So sad that this series may finally be over since Danny was the last brother left. But I absolutely adore this series!

Darkmore Penitentiary Book 3: Feral Wolf by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Feral Wolf (Darkmore Penitentiary, #3)
Darkmore Penitentiary Book 3

A morte e ritorno.

My family’s motto circles in my mind as I look this problem dead on and try to figure it out.

I’ve faced worse than this. Survived worse odds than this. I won’t let this failure break me.

We have 72 hours to turn this around.

72 hours to make a new plan out of the dregs of the old.

72 hours until all hope is lost.

This task is impossible, but I still like my chances. I have an ace in my pocket and his name is Mason Cain. He might not want to help me, but I don’t plan on giving him a choice in the matter.

My name is Rosalie Oscura. And I refuse to let anything beat me.

This series is set in the world of Solaria five years after Zodiac Academy and ten years after Dark Fae and book one was previously published as Darkmore Penitentiary. There is some character crossover but all series can be read independent of each other without spoilers. The female lead will end up with more than one love interest.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

So I knew to expect some crazy cliffhanger ending on this story. Knew it would probably be pretty bad. But I did not expect it to be THAT bad! Ugh. Super mad about that ending. So this story picks up right after the previous one. Rosalie and the gang have about 72 hours to come up with a final escape plan or they will never be getting out of Darkmore and higher chances of them being dead. It's less than 72 hours of crazy and chaos. Rosalie's small advantage is having Cain with her, Roary, Ethan, and Sin. It's just convincing him to help that is the problem. The whole prison is in chaos after Rosalie's last plan falling. And it is only a matter of time before the FIB get involved. But until then, it is up to the guards to control the prison. But that isn't really happening. So Rosalie and everyone must come up with plans B, C, D, and let's just say it keeps going. Some good things in this book that happen. Like Rosa and Roary finally getting what they deserve. Getting more info on Cain. Even nice peeks of some beloved characters on the outside. But that ending. Yeah, not thrilled with it. It went from okay that is really bad, we'll see what happens next to oh my god, no, no, no. How is anyone coming back from that??? Yeah, I don't know what is going to go down next book after that. And despite how mad it made me, I need to know how everything plays out. Trusting the authors on this! Though from what I learned about the world of Solaria and all the books that have taken place in it, there is a ton of bad before any well good happiness can come to light. So we'll have to wait and see.

Darkmore Penitentiary Book 2: Alpha Wolf by Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti

Alpha Wolf (Darkmore Penitentiary, #2)
Darkmore Penitentiary Book 2

I came here with a single goal in mind.
An aim.
A purpose.
I will break out of Darkmore Penitentiary.

But I was a fool to think that it would be so simple.

And now with more and more Fae relying on me to get them out of this slice of hell, I find myself unable to do a damn thing.

Mason Cain stabbed me in the back and left me to rot in the dark. So now I have another goal in mind before I escape this place, because no one messes with the Queen of the Oscura Clan and lives to tell the tale. The moment I get out of here, my sights will be set on him.

Between the four alpha males luring me in, the psychopaths trying to kill me and the monster roaming the halls at night, I have my hands full in here.

But one thing is for sure.

I’m not throwing my life away in this place. So I’ll do whatever it takes to escape.

This is a dark, hot paranormal romance series where the main character will end up with more than one male love interest. The series is set in the same world as Zodiac Academy and Dark Fae, with some character cross-over but each series can be read without having read the other series. This book was previously published as Darkmore Penitentiary 2: Captive Fae.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Rosalie's plans to escape may have been delayed when Cain betrayed after saving his life, but she isn't giving up. She has no plans to stay in Darkmore and she certainly isn't breaking her promise to get Roary out of there. She just has to make a few adjustments. Pure chaos comes out of this book. Rosalie's anger toward Cain leads to her magic reacting and putting a curse on him. And Cain is still fighting his pull toward Rosalie and the curse is only making things worse. Sin is as crazy as ever but is just another guy drawn to Rosalie and the only way they escape is if he comes too. Roary is still fighting his feelings toward Rosa but for the first time in a long time has hope of escaping Darkmore and knowing he'll see his brother on the other side. And that Rosa will be right there with him. Ethan can't fight the pull of his mate bond with Rosalie but he knows that he can't tell anyone about it. Word of a Lunar and an Oscura together will bring chaos and death to the gangs. He won't betray his people but he hates to hurt his mate. Rosalie may be juggling a few guys in this prison of hell but she'll do what she can to stay focused on the plan. And an opportunity has them closer than ever to escape. But with all escape plans nothing ever goes according to plan.

These characters honestly get better and better. I can't decide whose point of view is better because they all bring something different to the table. The trouble they all get into is hilarious and crazy. And that ending was insane! So much happened in this book. Secrets about Darkmore were slowly revealed and I know will definitely continue to be a problem late. And like I said an ending that was just purely chaotic and leaving our characters to scramble once more with a plan. Have no idea what is gonna go down in the next book. Though I've seen reviews where people are begging for book 4, so I have to imagine something big goes down. Can't wait to find out for myself!
