The Lair of the Wolven Book 2: Forever by J.R. Ward

The Lair of the Wolven Book 2

Lydia Susi and Daniel Joseph’s story continues in the Lair of the Wolven series from #1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward.

For Lydia Susi, there is no sweet sorrow in saying goodbye to the man she loves. As a wolven hiding among humans, she’s used to being alone—until destiny gives her the kind of love she never dared to dream about. But after a sudden devastating diagnosis, grief is the only thing she sees in her future.

As an operative for a clandestine arm of the United States government, Daniel Joseph always expected to die an early death. He just assumed it would be out in the field—not in a laboratory hospital bed. With his time running out, he refuses a potentially lifesaving treatment to focus on making sure that Lydia finds her wolven clan.

Following an attack on the lab’s compound, Daniel fears his former boss is coming after the two of them. Marshaling his strength, he must call on all of his training to protect his love…even if it means her moving on without him.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I have to say, I wish I reread the previous book before starting this one, but the more I read, the more it slowly came back to me. This world is such a big one with so many moving parts. In this story we get a lot of different point of views but they all come back to interact with one another. So for Lydia and Daniel, they are struggling to just be with one another as Daniel fights his cancer. It's a losing battle and the decision to try this experimental drug is one that the two of them can't seem to agree on. Daniel doesn't have a lot of time left, so decisions need to be made. Then we have Xhex, Rev, and Blade. The sympaths have their own story lines and everything is crashing with Daniel and Lydia. Any connection to the Brotherhood is one that interests me most in these spin offs in particular. I'm curious to see where this series goes. I know we have a third book coming but whether or not that is the last one is the question. I will say, though I was a bit slow getting into this one, I know there will always come a point in the story that will grab my attention and get me hooked. And this one didn't let me down. Looking forward to seeing how everything plays out in the next one.
