Moo U Hockey Series Book 3: Holdout by Jacqueline Snowe

Holdout (Moo U #3)
Moo U Hockey Book 3

Jonah Daniels has enough work preparing for his hockey season without spending time interviewing a roommate to help share expenses. So when some dude answers J.D.’s ad and agrees to his terms, he puts a key under the mat and leaves for practice.

What he doesn’t expect is that his new roommate is not a dude at all, but an overtalkative, energetic hottie. What’s worse? She’s the younger sister of his friend on the team, and she’s sworn him to secrecy.

Ryann Reiner needs a place to live, stat. After an incident at the dorms that almost tanked her scholarship, Ryann wants a boring roommate who’ll leave her alone. J.D. almost fits the bill. He lives and breathes hockey, just like her brother, and he wouldn’t know a joke unless it hip checked him against the boards.

He’s also gorgeous. And broody. And he looks fine on laundry day, in too little clothing. Soon, late-night study sessions turn into dangerous flirting. And then a kiss turns into more. But they’re determined to keep things in the feelings-free zone.

Until lines blur and tensions rise when Ryann’s brother learns the truth. And both their hearts are skating on thin ice...

My Review: 5/5 Stars

So after reading the first 3 books of the Moo U Hockey books, I have to say that this one is probably my favorite so far. How can anyone not like Jonah? Sweet Jonah who cannot talk to anyone. Who is quiet and shy and has no idea how to flirt. Who is so focused on school and hockey that he doesn't know what having fun outside of hockey looks like. So this story follows Jonah and Ryann. In order to protect herself this semester she decides to move out of her toxic dorm and finds an ad of someone looking for a roommate. But it isn't until after she gets the thumbs up that she realizes that she misread the name on email. Danielle is actually Daniel. And he wrote her name as Ryan instead of Ryann. Looks like they both misread the situation. And when she sees Daniel she realizes that Daniel is actually J.D. Hockey player for Moo U and her brother's teammates. Though things start off a bit rocky, both need the apartment, so they set up some ground rules. The biggest and not spoken out loud rule being nothing will happen between them. Jonah is all about focus. He has to maintain his scholarship and save his money where he can. It's just him and his Dad after his mother left them and he won't do anything to jeopardize school and hockey. And Ryann doesn't want to hurt her brother. She promised to never date a hockey player teammate and with the disaster that was high school, she won't make that mistake again. Especially that her brother Michael is the only family she has left after their parents died in a car accident. She refuses to lose her brother.

But neither are prepared for the insane chemistry between them. Both are probably equally and shockingly surprised. Jonah has been so focused and unable to open to anyone, how is it he can with his new and beautiful roommate? And Ryann didn't think she could fall for another hockey player. But Jonah is way different. He listens to her and just understands her. And isn't long until they give in to their attraction despite knowing that if anyone finds out both of their lives could blow up. But the risk may just be worth it.

I really loved this one. Both characters were really great. And the chemistry on the page was there and very clear. I couldn't put the book down. I wanted them to find a way to be together without upsetting and jeopardizing everything they love and worked for. I wanted them to realize that what they had was worth the risk. They brought out the best in one another and it truly showed. This series is just really great and I'm loving every moment of it! Can't wait for the next one!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
