Sins of the Father Book 1: Bittersweet Revenge by Riley Hart

Sins of the Father Book 1

Dean
I’ve been stalking Tiernan O’Shea online for years.

After Sloan O’Shea killed my dad, my mom and I spent years in hiding, moving from state to state, changing our names, never drawing attention to ourselves, hoping to never be found.

I’ve fed off nothing but vengeance ever since.

Tiernan O’Shea is exactly like his father—arrogant, rich, ruthless.

The plan is Get accepted to Ashford U. Get close to Tiernan. Get him to trust me. And then, when he brings me home to his father, I’ll take my revenge on Sloan O’Shea.

What I don’t expect is discovering the secret side of Tiernan, the parts he doesn’t show the rest of the world. He’s as beautiful as he is brutal—deadly, yes, but he’s also the kind of man who would do anything for those he loves. We’re alike in ways I never imagined. And when he touches me, kisses me…it makes me feel like I matter.

I’ve spent my whole life hoping to even the score, but now my revenge will be bittersweet because it’ll make me lose the only man I’ve ever loved.

Content Bittersweet Revenge contains violence, darker themes, and morally gray characters with no redemption arc. This is still a Riley Hart romance though, so you can expect a happily ever after for our guys.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Dean has never been the same since his father was murdered in front of him. His mom and him were on the run from a crime family that would see them dead if they ever showed their faces again. And when Dean loses him mom years later, he is on his own. And it’s time to get revenge against the man who hurt his family. In order to do so it means attending Ashford U and getting close to the man’s son, Tiernan. And though Dean knows he needs to get close enough to Tiernan so that he can get to Sloan, Dean never expects the connection him and Tiernan. They get one another in a way neither expected. The chemistry between them is insane and though he knows he is betraying his family, Dean can’t seem to fall deeper. Tiernan doesn’t know what it is about Dean that draws him in. The fact that he isn’t afraid of him? His looks? The way they actually seem to have things in common from liking books to even just bits of their personality? He never wanted to claim someone, but Dean is breaking all his rules. He doesn’t know how long he’ll get to keep Dean before his father finds out, but he’ll hold on as tight as he can. And for Tiernan, the harder he falls the more the need for revenge seems to fall away. But will Tiernan still want him if the truth is revealed? This was so good! Dark and gritty, these morally gray characters were everything. I loved that Dean and Tiernan were not afraid of one another and could be themselves. And when it comes down to it, they both protect who is theirs. Really loved getting to know them and watching them fall hard for one another. We have a new interesting world to explore and characters I want to get to know better! Can’t wait to see where this series takes us!

Longwood Book 3.5: Dirty Wrong Love by Crea Reitan

Longwood U Book 3.5

Who knew crushing on the same guy could be so hot?

Skye

It was one night. It shouldn’t bother me the way it does when my father drops the bomb that he and my mom are not only divorcing but he’s also been seeing Nolan for the last couple months, I feel like the air was stolen from my lungs.

The blows keep coming. I can’t stay away from Orion. Everything is so charged and good but somehow, it’s escalating. Now we’re on a road trip with Dad and Nolan in a tight, confined space.

Orion

There’s no doubt in my mind that we won’t be returning home the same as when we left. I’m not wrong. It takes less than a week for everything to get hot, heavy, and consuming. There are questions we’re ignoring as we fall deeper and deeper into a love like no other.

How can something so damn good be considered wrong? Not that it matters. I’ll happily keep this dirty wrong love for the rest of my life and die a happy man.

This is a LGBTQIA+ TABOO story with content not intended for those under 18 years of age due to graphic scenes and situations.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

If you haven’t read Project FU then be sure to do so before picking this up or else be very confused! This story is probably best read in tandem with it, the chapters are marked so you can follow along. Or you can do what I did and read it after. Which worked just fine for me! Also, this story is TABOO. So if it’s not your thing, then don’t proceed. For me, while taboo isn’t my go to, I adore this world Crea has created. I love her characters, so for me it is easy to slip in to the story to see these characters continue their journey. With that said, this story follows Orion and Skye. We get pieces of what was going on with them during in Project FU up to where that book ends, and this takes over. In their story, as they continue to explore this relationship between them, they soon realize that they could have more. That being with Nolan and Davis. A roadtrip together gives everyone a chance to see what a future between them as partners can look like. While also learning more about Nolan and his family and how love is truly just love. And there is on shame in loving someone. I really liked getting to know Skye and Orion more and seeing them solidify the family that has always been theirs but now is more and expanded a bit.  You can’t help but love these characters and cheer for them as they find their happy ending!

Longwood U Book 3: Project FU by Crea Reitan

Longwood U Book 3

When you fall in love with the wrong Davenport…

Nolan

I’ve spent my college career editing adult videos but never has one hit me as hard as seeing my girlfriend of sixteen months with the football team. Needless to say, I’m devastated. I need to hurt her like she’s hurt me. My friends dub this mission Project: FU.

A series of bad decisions lands me in bed with the worst one yet.

Tavis

The man my daughter broke is sitting at the bar looking beaten. When I look into his eyes, I feel something I haven’t felt in more than two decades. For just one night, I decide to make this man mine and erase the heartache I see in him.

But one night is not enough and shit is about to hit the fan.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Nolan thought he was happy and everything was going pretty well in his life. Until he saw a video of his girlfriend cheating on him. Big time. He’s hurt and in pain and wants to do something to make her feel his pain too. It leads him to a series of pretty bad decisions and nothing that helps him feel better. And nothing that he actually wants to rub in his ex’s face. Because truthfully, Nolan isn’t a bad guy. He just isn’t built that way to hurt someone. Though he’ll admit that he may have messed up here and there. But with his last bad decision may actually be the best thing that happened to him. The irony? It’s falling into bed with his ex’s father. Tavis never imagined that falling for his daughter’s ex would be the thing to wake him up from the life he has been living. His marriage has not been real in a very, very long time. Just neither were ready to have the conversation to move forward despite having moved on years ago. But being with Nolan, Tavis realizes he can have a future where he is happy and it’s time to make that change. Let’s just say this book is filled with some interesting twists and turns and some side drama! Though I gotta say, I love that the drama was handled so well and actually nicely. You root for Tavis and Nolan every step of the way as they fall for one another. Another thing I loved about this book is that we got to meet some new characters! I am definitely looking forward to their books. And of course, we see lots of familiar faces from this universe who connect our main characters. I always love those cameos! Overall, I enjoyed their story and as always I am looking forward to the next one.

And for those who liked this book and could see the direction it was heading and are okay with a bit of taboo, there is a tandem read book called Dirty Wrong Love that goes with it. I decided to read that after I finished this one, so I am off to that next! Though you can read it in tandem with this book since chapters overlap and then it continues where this book ends.

Punk as Puck Book 2: Pucked Up by EM Lindsey

Punk as Puck Book 2

Sometimes an anonymous tryst shows up at the rink two months later as your new hockey coach.

I have rules. Very important rules. No real names, no strings, no seeing each other again. It’s always worked out well for me, and it’s the only thing that keeps me focused as I try to climb my way into professional hockey after nearly torching my career.

I should have been king of the ice in the paraprofessional league, but instead, I let my anger and bitterness get to me. Now I’m forced to claw my way back into relevance, starting with a community team.

That would be fine if the one amazing, anonymous night I had with a total stranger didn’t end up being the Wolves’ new coach. And even that might have been tolerable if Hugo wasn’t on my father’s payroll.

But he is.

And to make matters worse, I still want him. My bad attitude and attempt to drive him away doesn’t faze him at all, and the more I push, the more he pulls me back into the last place I want to his orbit.

All I want is to join the PPHL and prove to myself that I’m a worthy player on my own merit.

Lust wasn’t on the table. And neither was love.

But the closer I get to Hugo, the more I realize that I’m not sure I want to do this without him…and the more I realize I’m not sure if I can.

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Boden has rules when it comes to hooking up. One night and they never see one another again. And if they do, they never met. But he doesn’t expect the man he had the best one night stand with of his life to walk into his conference room a month later and announce he is his new hockey coach. That stirs up a lot of feelings for Boden. Like how he still wants Hugo but at the same time how he wants him gone. What does he know about this kind of hockey? Turns out, a lot more than Boden realizes. Hugo never expected to see Boden again. Even though he desperately wanted to. But it was better to part ways even though Boden made him feel things he hasn’t felt since losing his husband seven years earlier. However, whenever Boden looks at Hugo all he sees is anger and if Boden doesn’t stop sabotaging himself and his team, he won’t get where he wants to go. So it’s only a matter of time until Hugo finds a way for Boden to get out his anger. It just means risking both their hearts. Ooo man the angst in this one! Poor guys just have a lot going on for them. Boden just can’t seem to stop hurting himself and putting his heart out there but Hugo makes him want to. But it will take a lot before he can finally make the leap. I loved getting to know these characters and seeing what was going on with them. We gets peeks in the previous book, but it’s different now that we can see what they are thinking. These two are great together and deserve a happy ending. They just gotta admit it first! Looking forward to the next one, but I feel like that one is going to be pretty insane and complicated!

Best Bros Forever Book 2: The Bro Date by Charli Meadows

Best Bros Forever Book 2

 Toby

For years, I’ve been pining after someone I can never have—my best friend, Shane. The thought of confessing my feelings and possibly losing him is so gut-wrenching that I’ve hidden my true identity from everyone, including myself.

Until now.

While staying with my grandparents for spring break—away from the testosterone-filled house I share with Shane and two other roommates—I decide I’m finally ready to pursue my attraction to guys. When I get back to campus, I download a gay dating app to meet people.

Shane’s overprotective side flares to life, and he starts to stalk me on my dates, making sure I’m safe and swooping in to rescue me from disaster after disaster. When that protective streak turns into possessiveness, and he asks to kiss me, I have to pinch myself.

Is this the happily ever after of my dreams, or is Shane just leading me on to eventually rip out my heart when he realizes he isn’t gay?

Shane

There’s always been one ray of sunshine in my otherwise dark existence—my best friend, Toby. But when he returns from a trip to Florida and confides in me that he’s gay and wants to start dating guys, irrational jealousy takes hold of me.

Stalking his dates may start by accident, but after the first time, I willingly lurk in the shadows, watching him. Protecting him. None of these losers deserve Toby, and when he continues to get hurt by them, I can’t take it any longer. I guess I’ll have to be the one to show him how special he is and what he deserves.

When one heated kiss turns into a series of dates, I find myself falling for my best friend and questioning everything. Will this be the beginning of something beautiful, or am I doomed to lose the only good thing in my life?

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Toby has been keeping the secret that he is gay from everyone in his life. Including his best friend, Shane. Who he is also in love with but will never admit it because one, he believes Shane is straight and two, he never wants to lose him. But he does want to tell him the truth and he wants to start dating. And while coming out to his best friend goes great, the dates don’t exactly go according to plan. Especially when Shane seems to find his way to them more often than not. And while Toby would like to be mad about Shane showing up, he kind of can’t because Shane seems to save him from some pretty terrible guys. But what shocks Toby more is not only does Shane tell him they are going on a date together but kisses him as well. Well, things just got a lot more interesting. Shane has always felt protective of Toby. Ever since they were kids, they have been by one another’s side. There isn’t anything he wouldn’t do from him. So when this feeling creeps up on him as Toby goes out on dates, he thinks he is just being protective. Until he realizes that what also upsets him is that fact that Toby is going out with other guys who are not him. Turns out his feelings for Toby are a lot deeper than he ever realized. And with that comes with the fact that he will never let Toby go. Not when he just figured out how they are supposed to be. Loved these two! I loved that Shane didn’t really question the fact that maybe he was in love with his best friend. He rolled with it. He knew Toby was his person and didn’t get stuck fact on the fact that he was a guy. To him, he is just Toby. And I loved that Toby finally got the guy he always wanted! These two were just utterly adorable as they moved from best friends to more. Their connection was so strong and it was clear that these two were always meant to be, they just needed to realize it for themselves! Such a fun story!

King Sports Book 2: The Office Bet by Eden Finley

King Sports Book 2

Fox

There are only three things in life I’m passionate about: my family, sports, and hating Archer Holloway.

He’s the most prolific associate at the firm and out earns everyone at our level. Plus, he’s annoyingly good-looking and is somehow able to charm everyone. Everyone except me.

His athlete roster might be impressive, but his tactics for signing clients can be questionable at best.

So, when the chance arises to stealthily pitch to someone he’s gunning for, I don’t hesitate.

Two can play at this game.

Archer

I don’t understand why Lincoln Fox hates me. Okay, so maybe I signed a few athletes he was pursuing, but that’s not personal. It’s business.

I really do think he’d come to like me if he got to know me. He won’t give me the time of day though. He never has. Which is a shame because Fox is the most attractive man I’ve ever met.

The more he argues with me, the more everyone around us thinks there’s a spark between us. The office pool is over two thousand dollars now, but they’re backing the wrong horse. No one will win this bet because the chance of us hooking up are less than zero. Fox will never see me as anything more than an over-competitive jerk. What a waste of money.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Fox and Archer have been in competition with one another at King Sports for a long time. Each thinks they know the other but turns out, they may not know one another as well at they think. Like the fact that Archer has had feelings for Fox for a long time but figured Fox would want nothing to do with him. So he’ll take their bantering and teasing as far as he can go while also doing his job. A job he isn’t afraid to work hard at to get what he needs. While Fox sees Archer as someone who steals his clients and is constantly trying to one up him. But when they are forced to work together for a client they are going to share, they start to realize there is more to the other. And everything they may have thought about the other isn’t exactly true. And while Archer may have always been attracted to Fox, Fox is waking up to what is in front of him for the first time. And turns out, they like one another. Something the office apparently sees considering there is a bet going around of when and how these two hook up. I really loved Archer and Fox’s story! They gave some enemies-to-lovers vibes but what I really loved is that they put down their walls enough to see more of the person in front of them. And that person is an amazing match for them. They had a lot of fun and playful banter. And for those who are a fan of Asher in the series, you’ll be happy to see the latest Dalton has done! Always love seeing cameos from past characters! Another great story in this series! I can’t wait to see who is next!

Silvercrest U Book 2

Jax

He just doesn’t want to want them.

Myles might have started out as a job, but he’s the only person who’s ever made me feel anything, and once I set my sights on him, I'll do whatever it takes to make him mine.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Jax protects his family. So when someone he considers his was threatened, him and his twin, Jace, are on it to make sure that all the players were taken out. But there is one person who has stumped them a bit. The person who helped make it possible for Felix to be attacked but also helped protect him. Jax has a feeling Myles was being blackmailed but found a way to make sure those people didn’t get away with it. But he needs to make sure. So he’ll do what he usually does. Watch and observe. But he doesn’t expect to find interest in Myles. Because truthfully, no one has ever caught his attention. But Myles is different. He is hella smart and is the first to pick up that Jax is watching him immediately. And when they begin a game between the two of them…well things just get even more interesting from there. When Myles receives a video that his blackmailers are taken care of, he doesn’t know if he feels relief or worry. Was it a threat that they are gone but someone else is taking over? Or did this person just want to let him know they are gone for good? And what is this feeling that someone has been watching him lately? He surely thinks he is going crazy until a group comes after him and someone comes to his rescue. His mysterious hero and stalker should scare him but truthfully it does the opposite. But who can he be? And is he really on Myles’s side? I loved Myles and Jax! They are such an intriguing couple. And I loved that they matched one another intellectually. They challenged one another with games and puzzles that just made their chemistry even better when they met up. Loved the suspense and twists and turns in this one! Definitely enjoying this series so far and I can’t wait for the next one!

Punk as Puck Book 1: Zero Pucks by EM Lindsey

Punk as Puck Book 1

Sometimes what happens in Vegas shows up at your door two weeks later to tell you that he’s the guy you married while you were blackout drunk.

Waking up alone in a strange hotel room, missing my prosthetic legs, and no memory of what happened the night before is not how I wanted to spend my estranged twin’s bachelor party trip.

Yet there I was, legless and zero idea how I got there. Or who I spent the night with. Which is…not great.

Though I suppose that trauma lies somewhere between losing my legs in a car accident which killed my career in the NHL, and my brother running off with my fiancée.

So, in the grand scheme of things, not the worst weekend I’ve had.

But while I’m no longer a bitter, angry man, I’m also maybe—kind of, sort of—not the most well-adjusted person on the planet. And that shows when an adorable, dimpled, wild-haired man shows up at my door to tell me that the hazy night in Vegas had a very specific

At some point, after several chocolate cake shots and trauma dumping, Amedeo and I found Elvis and got married.

The easy thing to do would be to make sure the marriage isn’t valid. But when have I ever made anything in my life easy? Especially since the incentive is getting to keep this man in my orbit.

We might have had the weirdest beginning of any married couple, but now I’m feeling strangely determined to give us both the happily ever after we deserve.

Zero Pucks is the first book in a rom-com, strangers to lovers, MM romance sled hockey series. It features a ride or die hockey found family, snarky best friends, the Team Dad who refuses to approve of bad decisions, why sled hockey is way more terrifying than standing hockey, awkward first dates, steaming hot first kisses, and a Golden Retriever of an Alternate Captain determined to give them both the happiest of ever afters.

********

My Review: 4/5 Stars

Tucker and Amedeo never could have imagined that a hazy night in Vegas would lead to falling in love. When Tucker and Amedeo meet at a bar in Vegas, neither are in very good places. Tucker is dealing with his brother marrying his ex girlfriend and figuring out that this olive branch of inviting him to the bachelor weekend wasn’t really real. Along with getting the reminder of Tucker’s past where he lost in NHL career before it actually began because he was young and angry and it resulted in a car accident that changed his life. Meanwhile, Amedeo has let his boyfriend cheat and walk all over him and take all verbal abuse and he has hit his breaking point. This all leads to a very hazy night for both of them, recalling almost nothing. Except when Amedeo realizes they got married. Which in that moment gives him the strength to leave his abusive partner and he takes a chance to go and find Tucker to explain what they did. Tucker can’t be more surprised when Amedeo tracks him down, but the second he sees him, everything changes. There is a connection between them. And if they give it a chance, despite the craziness that lead them to even meeting, they just may have a chance at finding the love they both very much deserve and were looking for. This story took me by the surprise in a lot of ways! But it was definitely a fun one to read. Tucker and his friends are hysterical. They all have their own form of disabilities and issues going on in their lives, but very much care for one another and act like siblings who can’t help but annoy and poke one another. I loved how Tucker and Amedeo gave themselves a chance to open up with one another and realize that maybe their drunken selves in Vegas were on to something. Fun story all around and I am looking forward to the next one!

Smithton Bears Book 2: Something to Prove by Lane Hayes

Smithton Bears Book 2

The hockey star, the influencer, and the deal of a lifetime.

Ty

I’m going to the pros, baby! Deal made, contract signed. Now all I have to do is finish out my final season at Smithton and stay out of trouble. I like to have a good time, but don’t worry, I’ll behave.

What I won’t do is talk to that double-crossing influencer who’s been badgering me for an interview. No thanks.

I know Walker’s type—sweet as pie on the outside, a shark on the inside.

Get this…he wants to make a deal that sounds a lot like a bribe.

Not interested. No way.

But I am curious.

Walker

I’ve never worked so hard for an interview in my life. Ugh!

Look, I get that Ty doesn’t like me. As in…he won’t return my calls and avoids me like the plague on campus.

Too bad. I’m not giving up.

I don’t want to beg, but I’m willing to barter. Every man has his price—and something to prove.

Even Ty.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Though it’s been a year and half, Ty still hasn’t been able to forgive Walker when his influencer channel outed his friend/teammate with his boyfriend. Sure, Walker apologized for the incident that happened on his watch and the couple involved has forgiven him. But Ty? Not so much. He just can’t seem to let it go. But when news of Ty’s AHL contract gets out, everyone is excited for him. And Walker knows he has to get an interview. But Ty refuses. Walker wants to make it right and tries to think of a way to make it up to Ty. He just isn’t sure what. But when Ty’s agents tells him to do the interview and Walker offers to help his social media be better now that he is going to be a professional athlete, Ty grudgingly agrees. What he never expects is to let is guard down long enough to act on the steaming chemistry between him and Walker. A sudden kiss is one thing but then when it happens again and leads to more? Looks like Ty is in trouble. Not only of forgiving Walker but actually liking him! Walker knows he should be careful and not cross lines with those he works with, but the more time he spends with Ty, the more he can’t help but falling. So why is he waiting for the other shoe to drop? I loved these two! It was really funny that sweet Ty who likes everyone just couldn’t get over being cranky with Walker. But Walker is such a sweet guy, it’s hard to truly hate him when he is so genuine. I loved that were able to move on from the past and explore the connection between them. This was a fun story from their banter to all the interviews Ty joined Walker on. Really liking this series so far and I can’t wait for the next one!

Adrenalin Book 3: Persistent by Michele Lenard

Adrenalin Book 3

Some thrills you chase. Others blindside you in a red plaid skirt and combat boots.

Axel - It was probably a little stalkerish to follow him to this office and pin him up against the wall before knowing his name, but in my defense, red is my favorite color.
And he made it look so good I found myself tempted to try eggplant for the first time.

Besides, it’s not like I was the only one looking.
He’d been not-so-discretely ogling me all afternoon, I just made the first move.
And the second.
And pretty much all the others until tragedy struck his hometown and he sought me out for comfort.

I knew after that first night one wouldn’t be enough, but when he turned to me in his moment of need, I was done for.
Too bad forever is the one thing Lennon doesn’t believe in.
He’s spent years building a life he controls—running his restaurant, protecting his heart, keeping everyone at arm’s length.
And me? I’m a professional dirt biker with no fixed address and no idea how to stay still.

We don’t make sense.
Not on paper. Not in real life.
But when he’s in my arms, nothing’s ever felt more right.

He thinks our timing’s all wrong.
But I think I finally found the place I want to land—and the man I want to stay for.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

This was definitely my favorite of the series so far! The chemistry between Lennon and Axel is undeniable the moment these two are the on page. From the moment these two meet, they can feel the spark between them. And it doesn’t take them long to explore their chemistry in the bedroom. But what surprises them both is how one night isn’t enough. Because even after they hook up, they just want to be around one and talk. Not that Lennon will admit it! Lennon grew up watching his mom flounder after his dad left her. And he swore never to be put in a position like that. Work is his life and he won’t stop his career for anyone. But Axel threatens to bring down his walls bit by bit. Is Lennon willing to let go even a bit for him? Axel has never felt what he has felt for Lennon. The fact that he was a guy didn’t even bother him. All he sees is Lennon and wants to be closer to him. And he’ll fight for him if Lennon lets him. Axel’s career takes him on the road a lot but for the first time he is truly thinking harder about calling a place home. He may have thought it before but Lennon gives him a whole new reason to consider it more. But can he convince Lennon that what they have is worth some compromise? Adored these two! They had a great connection and a lot more in common than either thought. But they fit so well together and balance one another out. I loved seeing them grow together and work their way to fighting for one another. Like I said, favorite of the series!

Excerpt

I enter Archer’s office without knocking, which I wouldn’t normally dream of doing to anyone because it’s disrespectful, but I’d have to respect Archer to care about that.

Archer has his bleach-blond head buried in his screen, a smile on his plump lips, and his shirtsleeves rolled up to his elbows to show off his tattoos. They’re also peeking out above his top button too.

I hate those tattoos. Hate that my gaze is always drawn to them. Hate that I want to see what the ink is that’s hidden by his button-up shirt. But mostly I hate them because I find tattoos irresistibly hot on a man, and these tattoos are on a man who doesn’t deserve them. They’re too good for his skin.

Archer lifts his head and then tilts it to the side like a dog. “What are you here to yell at me for this time?”

I wish I could say I come to his office for other reasons and had a right to be mad at that greeting, but I don’t. On either account.

“This.” I throw one of my business cards at his desk. It misses, and I internally sigh. Because god forbid I look cool while throwing something for once in my life. I step closer and pick it up, placing it in front of him this time with a firm hand. “What the hell is this supposed to mean, and why would you do it? Are you serious or purely delusional?”

Archer picks up the card and chuckles. Legit, lets out an immature chuckle like someone just said sixty-nine and he can’t help himself. “I mean, the thought of you marrying me is pretty funny.”

“What is your issue with me? Are you playing childhood games to get me to blow up at you in front of everyone and get fired? Stooping to sabotage so you can sign all of my clients to your roster? If you need to do this shit to get accounts, you’re not as charming as you think. Whatever you have against me, let it go. I’m not going anywhere.”

Archer puts his hand on his heart and says in the driest tone to ever exist, “It’s hurts so much that you don’t want to be the next Camden and Xavier of this office. It hurts so bad.”

I grunt and go to lose my shit at him even more when he beats me.

“It wasn’t me, jackass. Do you really think I’d spell my name wrong on my own cards?” He takes one of his cards out of the box sitting on his desk and slides it over to me.

Archer Halloway

Competitive PITA

His last name has an A instead of an O in Holloway. He makes a good point, but maybe that’s to throw everyone off so he doesn’t get in trouble for pranking my business cards. Make himself look like a victim too.

“At least yours is true,” I mumble.

He laughs for real this time.

“But it also doesn’t mean you didn’t have—"

“Also, you might want to check your work email.”

Uh-oh.

Swallowing hard, I pull my phone out of my pocket and open the inbox I’ve been ignoring since I first saw my new business card.

From: Damon King

Subject: Check your business cards

Hi all,

Due to a recent security breach, our legal team requires you to check your most recent batch of business cards handed out this week. We’ve had numerous reports of misprints, so please make sure yours have your correct title on them and email me if they do not.

On an unrelated note, please be careful who you let inside King Sports properties, both in New York and the LA offices. Also be aware that Maddox O’Shay and Stacy King are no longer allowed to set foot on either premises.

Regards,

Damon King.

King Sports CEO.

The email is so random it’s difficult to understand that it was Damon’s partner and sister responsible for this.

Damon King is a fascinating man. He’s so put together and runs a multi-million-dollar empire, yet he’s surrounded by immaturity. How does he deal with it? I’m struggling hard.

“I’ll take that apology whenever you’re ready,” Archer says.

I take my eyes off my phone to glare at him. “I don’t understand though.”

“Understand that a harmless prank could have been carried out by anyone but me?”

“No. I don’t get why?” These people don’t actually think Archer and I would make a good couple, do they?

“Why, what?”

“Why does mine say I should become your husband but yours is work related?”

“Would you still have thought it was me if it was work related? Or only because it was practically a marriage proposal if it came from me? Think highly of yourself, huh?”

“Yes! Wait, no. Yes, I still would’ve thought it was you if it was work related, but seeing as it wasn’t you and it was the boss’s partner, what have Camden and Xavier been telling Damon for Maddox to think you and I getting married would even be a remote possibility? It’s offensive.”

“It was a joke,” he says. “It’s probably because everyone knows how much you hate me for being better than you.”

“Yes, that’s the reason you drive me crazy. Absolutely has nothing to do with you sniping prospective clients right out from underneath me.”

“Isn’t that the same thing?”

This man is impossible.

“Either way, it’s still offensive.”

“Well, I take offense to your offense. I’m a catch. You’d be lucky to have me.”

“And you would need a miracle to have me.”

Archer leans back in his seat. “I’d take it as a compliment, if I were you.”

“What, because you’re so out of my league that—”

He puts up his hand to stop me from talking, and it’s so fucking rude. “No. It’s a compliment because they couldn’t find anything wrong when it comes to your work ethic, so they had to make shit up.”

I hesitate. Is … is that true?

“Hence, compliment.”

I’d hate to agree with Archer for once, but seeing it from that angle—

“Plus, they’re probably playing into the whole bet thing.”

Bet thing? “What bet?”

Archer’s brow scrunches, but he quickly smooths it out. “You haven’t heard?”

“Unlike others in this office, I try to stay away from gossip.”

“Then maybe you should ask around.”

Why is he like this? “I’m asking you.”

She doesn't take anything too seriously and lives to create an escape from real life for her readers. The ideas always begin with a wackadoodle premise, and she does her best to turn them into romances with heart.

With a short attention span that rivals her son's, she writes multiple different pairings: MM, MMF, and MF.

She's also an Australian girl and apologises for her Australianisms that sometimes don't make sense to anyone else.
