My Review: 5/5 Stars

A collection of delete scenes and alternate versions of the first four books of the Night Huntress series and wow, were they something. There were somethings in there that I am glad weren't in the final cut of the book. I think it was a good call to pull it out but I loved reading these scenes anyway. There were also a lot of scenes that I wish appeared in the book and didn't, like Cat and Bones having a human wedding. That was definitely neat to read. If you love the series, definitely check this out. It is so interesting to read how some of the books could have went. And though, like I said, I am glad there were details and scenes that didn't happen, it was super interested to read and get Jeaniene Frost's thoughts on the first four books. I totally want it for the last three books in the series. Plus something for the spin-offs as well! I'm so glad this book exists because I can't even recall the amount of series that I wished something like this existed for them.

Night Prince Novel Book 3: Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost

Bound by Flames (Night Prince, #3)
Night Prince Novel Book 3
Play with fire, pay the price.

Leila’s years on the carnie circuit were certainly an education. What she didn’t learn: how to be a vampire, or how to be married to the most famous vampire of them all. Adjusting to both has Leila teetering on a knife edge between passion and peril, and now the real danger is about to begin…

Vlad must battle with a centuries-old enemy whose reach stretches across continents and whose strength equals his own. It isn’t like Vlad to feel fear, but he does…for Leila, because his enemy knows she is Vlad’s greatest weakness. As friend and foe alike align against him—and his overprotectiveness drives Leila away—Vlad’s love for his new bride could be the very thing that dooms them both…

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Continuing my re-read, I have to say I remembered more of this one, but what I remembered was of course the more harsher parts of the book. Figures. Anyway, despite some of the horrors Leila endures in this book, it is still another fantastic one in the series. Leila and Vlad are desperate to fight his enemy. But in Vlad's overprotectiveness, he leaves Leila vulnerable to be captured by the enemy. Not a pretty moment, but despite that we get some excellent scenes leading up to her rescue. Like where Cat and Bones went after Up From the Grave. And again, I have to say, so glad I re-read these books and read the Night Huntress series. Because the first time I read this book, I did not know nearly enough about Cat and Bones as I should have and didn't realize the significance of what they were doing. So this was great to re-read. Anyway, so book proves to strengthen the relationship between Leila and Vlad in a way that finally has them acting more as equal partners. There are many twists and turns to retrieving Leila and the enemy they face. As usual, great book. One more to go for Vlad and Leila!

My Review: 5/5 Stars

The finale for the Night Huntress series, but not for the Night Huntress Universe. Thank goodness! This was quite the story for a final book. And it had that nice ending that makes me hope that though Cat and Bones story is "done", they won't truly disappear. Anyway, so the final book finally reveals what the crazy Madigan was up to at the government facility and boy was it a dozy. The secrets truly unravel and the threat of the possibility of war between ghouls and vampires rises to very close levels. We get a lot of familiar faces in this book, which I really loved. No one is forgotten. This one had a lot of twists and turns that had me determined to get to the end to find out what happens. Great series!

Night Prince Novel Book 2: Twice Tempted by Jeaniene Frost

Night Prince Novel Book 2
Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges...

Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover, Vlad, has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever–especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her.

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity...

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust– the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

My re-read of the series continues as I read all the Night Huntress Universe books in the order Jeaniene Frost intended. And like I said for Once Burned, Twice Tempted is another one I saw in a new light in my re-read. I had a better understanding the universe this time around and once again recognized some important characters that made cameos. It made me love the book even more. In the beginning of this book, Leila is feeling insecure about her relationship with Vlad. She knows she is in love with him, but he continues to deny he could love her back. She is pushed too far when she realizes that he may never admit if he loves her or not, so she makes a decision to leave. Heartbroken, she returns home where not too long after there is an attempt on her life in an explosion. One of the vampires that work for Vlad stuck around because of his feelings for her and saved her before the fire could kill her. Thinking that she is dead, Vlad comes to the US to bring her back, but with Leila's abilities he realizes that she isn't dead. With some more ups and downs and some near death experiences, they are brought back together and realize that neither want to be without the other. And of course, just when things get happier, there is a traitor in their home. The events that follow change everything in Leila and Vlad's world.

Night Prince Novel Book 1: Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost

Once Burned (Night Prince, #1)
Night Prince Novel Book 1
She's a mortal with dark powers...

After a tragic accident scarred her body and destroyed her dreams, Leila never imagined that the worst was still to come: terrifying powers that let her channel electricity and learn a person's darkest secrets through a single touch. Leila is doomed to a life of solitude...until creatures of the night kidnap her, forcing her to reach out with a telepathic distress call to the world's most infamous vampire...

He's the Prince of Night...

Vlad Tepesh inspired the greatest vampire legend of all—but whatever you do, don't call him Dracula. Vlad's ability to control fire makes him one of the most feared vampires in existence, but his enemies have found a new weapon against him—a beautiful mortal with powers to match his own. When Vlad and Leila meet, however, passion ignites between them, threatening to consume them both. It will take everything that they are to stop an enemy intent on bringing them down in flames.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

So this is my second time reading this book and I have to say what a difference a re-read does! So I had read the Night Prince series a few years ago without reading anything else in the Night Huntress Universe. Which I learned later the Night Prince series was a spin-off to it. Reading it that first time, there was a part of me that felt like I was missing some important information, especially when it came to the characters. Vlad was introduced early in Night Huntress series that follows Cat and Bones's story. We get to know him in those books, so I saw him in an entirely new light when I decided to read all the books that are in this "universe" and in the order Jeaniene Frost intended. I picked up a lot more, like the fact that Cat and Bones made a brief appearance along with Mencheres and Kira. And like I said, I could see Vlad in a new light because the first time I read the books I didn't really understand him the way I was supposed to. Knowing so much about his character from the Night Huntress series helped a lot. So my advice, read the Night Huntress Universe books in the order Jeaniene Frost intended. Night Huntress, Night Prince, Night Huntress Universe, and the newest addition Night Rebels. It makes it so much better.

So with that said, book 1 was so much better than I remembered. We get a kick ass lead in Leila who has psychometry and electrifying abilities and finds her match in Vlad who can handle all the powers she can throw at him. In this book, Leila is kidnapped by a group of vampires who are enemies of Vlad. Leila is able to use her abilities to contact Vlad and they form an alliance of sorts. Protection for Leila in exchange for help finding the vampire responsible in attacking Leila and Vlad. But an alliance isn't all they get. They have a chemistry that is off the charts and despite Vlad's insistence of never being able to love someone, Leila finds herself falling for him anyway. Action, vampires, romance, and a whole lot of supernatural, Once Burned is a great beginning to Vlad's books.

Night Huntress Series Book 6.5: Home for the Holidays by Jeaniene Frost

Home for the Holidays (Night Huntress, #6.5)
Night Huntress Series Book 6.5
Originally appeared in the print anthology The Bite Before Christmas.

'Tis the season to join Cat and Bones for some holiday cheer in this Night Huntress novella by USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost.

They were looking forward to a normal holiday—at least as "normal" as it gets for vampires Cat and Bones and their otherworldly friends and family. But their yuletide plans are shattered when a mysterious stranger shows up and reveals long-buried secrets that threaten to take a bite out of their holiday cheer … and lives.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I really loved this novella! Cat and Bones try to have a normal holiday with their close friends and family, but as per usual normal is never in the cards for them. Instead a vampire makes an appearance who tells them he is Bones half-brother. And if that wasn't a shocker, then the fact that he isn't just a normal vampire, but a demon possessed one too! Things get a little crazy as Cat and Ian try to figure out a way to save their loved ones who become a tad bit possessed by this powerful demon. I liked this novella a lot because we got to learn more about demons, which has been touched about here and there throughout the series. So more information was given. And! We get some surprising news at the end about this crazy otherworldly family. Great novella! Definitely a good one to read while reading the series.

A Night Huntress Novel Book 6: One Grave at a Time by Jeaniene Frost

One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6)
A Night Huntress Novel Book 6
How do you send a killer to the grave when he’s already dead?

Having narrowly averted an (under)World War, Cat Crawfield wants nothing more than a little downtime with her vampire husband, Bones. Unfortunately, her gift from New Orleans’s voodoo queen just keeps on giving—leading to a personal favor that sends them into battle once again, this time against a villainous spirit.

Centuries ago, Heinrich Kramer was a witch hunter. Now, every All Hallows Eve, he takes physical form to torture innocent women before burning them alive. This year, however, a determined Cat and Bones must risk all to send him back to the other side of eternity—forever. But one wrong step and they’ll be digging their own graves.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

How do you kill a ghost? Well that's the main question in this book of the Night Huntress series. Cat and Bones have faced a lot, humans, vampires, ghouls, demons, but what do you do when the enemy is already dead? And man, their enemy in this story is not only a ghost, but one super crazy whack-a-doodle ghost. Kramer is a witch hunter, burning witches at the stakes for hundreds of years and everyone Halloween he is powerful enough to torture innocent women before he burns them alive. Cat and Bones, with the help of their friends, try to find a way to stop this crazy ghost for good. Then there was the fact that there is a new guy taking over the government branch Cat used to work at for her uncle. He is definitely hiding something and though that wasn't resolved in this book, I am sure it will come to play in the next one. Great story and it's really nice to see how far Cat and Bones have come from when they first met and how interesting the supernatural world keeps on getting.

A Night Huntress Novel Book 5: This Side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5)
Night Huntress Novel Book 5
Danger waits on both sides of the grave.

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they've triumphed over the latest battle, Cat's new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance . . .

With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumors abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous "ally"—the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war . . . to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

War threatens to breakout between the vampires and the ghouls in book five of the Night Huntress series. Cat and Bones are determined to stop the war before it truly begins and to do so they need to defeat the ghoul who is stirring the flames, Apollyon. Their mission takes them to the ghoul queen of New Orleans who knows Cat's weird abilities as a half-breed turned full vampire (sort of) and uses them to her advantage. This book had a lot of emotional ups and downs. On top of the pending war, Cat learns some devastating news up her uncle. Another great book in the series, with a cliffhanger ending that made me super glad that this isn't a new book and I have access to the next one.

Night Huntress World Book 2: Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost

Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World, #2)
Night Huntress World Book 2
An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness . . . And now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.

Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares.

At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears, this fearless, beautiful . . . human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.

But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I finally get to Mencheres' story and the guy at lasts, gets a happy ending. Mencheres has always appeared as this very old vampire, who carried a sense of sadness to him every time he appeared. He has always tried to protect those he cares about, even when it may make them angry with him. When the book began you could tell how tired he was. That everything he had done in previous books (combining his line with Bones, the ending of his visions, securing their protection), he was pretty done with this life. That is until Kira comes along. She saves him in more ways than one. And sparks life back into him (or at least as much life as one can get from the undead). Kira and Mencheres were a very good match for one another, sharing similar experiences despite the huge age difference. Their enemy in this book was different than what we have seen in the past. We got a closer look at the Law Guardians, and how even the supernatural world can have a corrupt justice system. Great book. I look forward to reading more about these two particular characters.

Night Huntress World Book 1: First Drop of Crimson by Jeaniene Frost

First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1)
Night Huntress World Book 1
The night is not safe for mortals.

Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows – her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield – and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family’s dark past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness – and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who craves a taste of her.

He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human – even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the demon nightmare together…

Because once the first drop of crimson falls, they will both be lost.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Set in the Night Huntress Universe, this book follows Destined for an Early Grave (book 4 from Cat and Bones's series). This story follows Denise and Spade and boy did a lot happen! It's been over a year since Denise had lost her husband Randy and she still grieving. However, when members of her family are being killed she soon learns that the supernatural world she left after her husband's death, has dragged her back. A demon shapeshifter brands her and demands she bring back an ancestor that he had branded first. Not wanting to involve her friend Cat, she calls the one person who may be able to help her, Spade. Spade swore never to fall in love with a human. He lost someone he loved once to mortality, he won't do it again. But he can't resist the pull that Denise sparks in him. He agrees to help her win her freedom from the demon who thinks he has claim on her. They go on one crazy whirlwind adventure in the supernatural world. That has them bringing in some old allies, all the dangers of the supernatural world, and a romance that changes both of them. Really loved reading their story. Their similar histories make them perfect for one another.

Night Huntress Series Book 0.5: Reckoning by Jeaniene Frost

Reckoning (Night Huntress, #0.5)
Night Huntress Book 0.5
In New Orleans, a pair of undead ghoul serial killers is about to turn Mardi Gras into a horror show - unless the immortal hitman Bones can hunt them down first. Can he avoid redhaired vampire mercenary in pursuit at the same time? From anthology Unbound.

********

My Review: 4/5 Stars

A prequel of the Night Huntress series, Reckoning is a short story told by Bones. One curious thing about this story is that though it takes place before the first book, Jeaniene Frost recommends reading it after book 4.5 (the novella called One for the Money). It makes me wonder if something that came from this story, whether one of the new characters introduced or something that specifically occurred, will come back in one of the future books. I did enjoy reading this story though. We got a nice brief look of who Bones was before he met Cat. And the story itself was interesting, especially taking place in New Orleans where the supernatural is all around. Bones tracks down some seriously creepy ghoul serial killers, while all the while he is avoiding be killed himself by a fellow bounty hunter, who is a surprisingly interesting character and who I hope will be the one to appear in future books.

Night Huntress Series Book 4.5: One for the Money by Jeaniene Frost

One for the Money (Night Huntress #4.5)
Night Huntress Series Book 4.5
From Magic Graves

Vampires Cat Crawford and her husband Bones's romantic vacation is interrupted when they're enlisted to guard a spoiled heiress with both human and undead hitmen on her tail. Things quickly go from bad to worse when details of their assignment make their way through the supernatural grapevine, and what started as a simple bodyguard job ends up being a fight for survival that neither Cat nor Bones saw coming.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

A very short story from the Night Huntress series that follows Cat and Bones on a bodyguard mission when their vacation is interrupted. We return to Cat's hometown as they are guarding a spoiled heiress and to their surprise, Cat's mom is at their old home. We get some insight on how Cat's mom is doing after being changed into a vampire against her will. And I have to say, this was the first time Bones and Justina have had a civil conversation where Justina wasn't calling him every evil name. Instead, they have a moment where he teaches her how to defend herself against other vampires. I always love and Cat and Bones story, and even though it was short, it was still good because we got a look of Cat and her abilities now that she is a full vampire.

She's having visions of a vampire named Gregor who's more powerful than Bones and has ties to her past that even Cat herself didn't know about.

As the battle begins between the vamp who haunts her nightmares and the one who holds her heart, only Cat can break Gregor's hold over her. She'll need all the power she can summon in order to bring down the baddest bloodsucker she's ever faced . . . even if getting that power will result in an early grave.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

An emotional rollercoaster. That was this book. So many highs and lows. The only thing I could do was keep turning pages hoping that things would get better and solutions would be found. In this book, Cat learns that she is missing a month of memory from when she was sixteen. And in that time apparently she was bound to a vampire who goes by Dreamsnatcher. Cat and Bones relationship takes some serious hits as they try to figure out a way to defeat this Master Vampire. It's a serious test on their relationship and the only thing that kept me going was hope that by the end they would be stronger. But wow! So much happened. Probably the craziest story in the series so far with lots of twists and turns. And I love how each of these books reveals a little bit more about the supernatural world, that only makes it more interesting.

Night Huntress Series Book 3.5: Devil to Pay by Jeaniene Frost

Devil to Pay (Night Huntress, #3.5)
Night Huntress Series Book 3.5

Originally published in Four Dukes and a Devil.
Blake Turner had it all until a demon decided to take residence in his soul. Plagued with constant black outs and a trail of dead bodies in his wake, Blake thinks vampire Elise is his best chance at ending the nightmare. It's just too bad he's fallen in love with the gorgeous vamp right before he has to die.

********

My Review: 5/5 Stars

In this short novella, we meet Elise and Blake. Blake has been living with a demon inside of him for the last few months and is desperate to have it out of him. Even if it means his death. Elise has been going through the motions of being a vampire. She has closed herself off emotionally and sticks to her routine. Elise believes she is content with her existence, until the day she saves Blake from trying to kill himself. Their interaction sparks something in her she long thought was gone. Determined to help Blake rid the demon, she calls on her sire Mencheres. No way is she letting Blake go, not when he looks at her with no fear and actually makes her feel something again. This was a sweet short story, with some familiar faces and new insight in the Night Huntress universe.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Favorite!!! Because Jem and Tessa. Because we finally catch up to the end of the Herondale line. AND! Because of that surprise ending that has me smiling uncontrollably. Loved this collection of stories. All of them were fantastic!! So in this final one, Jem and Tessa receive a distress call from Rosemary Herondale, who last time Jem saw her he had given her a way to contact him if she was in danger. They race to find her but arrive just as she is slain by the Riders. Because of her note, they know she has a son. They now rush to find him. With Tessa's Changing abilities, we get a little more Rosemary Herondale and how she fell in love and how she had to leave her husband and child to protect them. The story catches up to to moment they meet Kit. And then it does one better and reveals a beautiful surprise, that has me super excited for future books (even though Queen of Air and Darkness will probably be emotionally damaging, yet these stories are worth it). This story closes this collection with quite a bang and with more information that hopefully will be helpful later.

Their determination to find her before she harms any of their friends, proves to be trickier than anyone expects. New alliances are made, the fights are bigger, the supernatural even weirder, and twists and turns that had me turning page after page, determined to know how it ends. Things are getting more interesting in the world of the Night Huntress universe. And I can't wait to read more!

A Night Huntress Novel Book 2: One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost

One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2)
A Night Huntress Novel Book 2
You can run from the grave, but you can’t hide…

Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her, but when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.

Being around Bones awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline rush of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard Cat tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever…and Bones won’t let her get away again.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

4 years have past since the first book ended and Cat has made a new life for herself. She leads a government group in the field to rid the world of the rogue undead. Yet, she misses Bones every single day. Bones has not stopped looking for Cat. And their reunion was one long waited for! Both still love one another and Cat finally takes a chance to believe Bones when he says and believes that they can make it work. That there will be challenges, but together they can face them. Immediately, chaos occurs. We meet Ian, Bones' sire, who takes an immediate interest in Cat. Bones has never told Ian his feelings for Cat, so they have to find a way to make Ian leave them alone. Meanwhile, someone is targeting Cat and trying very hard to kill her. And when she and Bones resume their relationship, her team isn't exactly thrilled, but with time Cat knows she can prove that she still believes in what they do and that they can trust her. Lots of new revelations in the world of the supernatural. Action, twists and turns, I have to say I liked this book a lot more than the first.

The only weird thing for me is that I had some other books in the series that are spin offs and take place later than this series, so I recognize the characters, like Ian. It'll be interesting to see who they were before the latest novels. I am definitely excited to find out!

The story is about Isa finding herself blackmailed into marrying a mob boss. And though she despises the idea of marrying a horrible man, she will do anything to protect her brother. Meanwhile, Isa's grandmother has known Bones for a long time and she calls in a favor. Bones sends Chance to help their situation. What Chance doesn't expect is to fall for Isa. A short sweet story, with lots of laughs, romance, a charming vampire, and a feisty woman, this story was a fun one to read.

Renegades Series Book 2: Archenemies by Marissa Meyer

Archenemies (Renegades, #2)
Renegades Book 2
The Renegades Trilogy continues, in this fiercely awaited second installment after the New York Times-bestselling Renegades by Marissa Meyer, author of the Lunar Chronicles.

Time is running out.
Together, they can save the world.
But they each other's worst nightmare.

In Renegades, Nova and Adrian (aka Insomnia and Sketch) fought the battle of their lives against the Anarchist known as the Detonator. It was a short-lived victory.

The Anarchists still have a secret weapon, one that Nova believes will protect her. The Renegades also have a strategy for overpowering the Anarchists, but both Nova and Adrian understand that it could mean the end of Gatlon City - and the world - as they know it.

My Review: 5/5 Stars

Nova and Adrian are back and the stakes are higher than ever! I loved the first book of this series and I am happy to report that the second book is just as fantastic! I cannot wait for the final book next year! Nova and Adrian are still keeping their other secret identities a secret from one another and from everyone. Nova begins to wonder if there is a way for the Renegades and Anarchists to work together to create a more peaceful world, but with the corruption that she still sees in the Renegades, she cannot let risk the future on that one slither of hope. Even if it means hurting Adrian. Though she tried to keep her feelings for him in check, she finds herself falling for him even more. But she knows their future is doomed with the lies and secrets between them. Adrian feels the same way. How can he allow himself to be with Nova, if he keeps his secret identity of Sentinel away from her? Yet, he knows he has to. For now. He needs to learn the truth of his mother's death. And being Sentinel means not having to go by the Renegade rules. Action, super powers, romance, and a whole lot more, this book is overall fantastic. Some questions answer, a lot more new questions came up, along with new threats and new problems. Just when one problem is solved, another emerges. By the end of this book, I am so curious to how the secrets between these characters will be revealed and how they will recover from it. How will they find their happy endings and set up a world where there is a lot more peace and freedom? Can't wait for the final book!

She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner - are there actually good vampires? Pretty soon Bones will have her convinced that being half-dead doesn't have to be all bad. Now Cat will have to choose a side . . . and Bones is turning out to be as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.

My Review: 4/5 Stars
I've read other books by Jeaniene Frost that were set in this universe, but somehow I failed to start with the original. Now the names that I have seen from the spin-offs make sense, but I know I have a lot to catch up. Though something tells me it is going to be a lot of fun to do so. Cat is half-human, half-vampire. Something pretty unique in her world. She is out hunting vampires with a vengeance. Untrained, but definitely not unskilled, her path crosses with a vampire bounty hunter, Bones, who in fact is a vampire himself. Together they form a shaky alliance that eventually leads them to an epic romance and on a trail to some pretty bad vampires. Cat learns more about her vampire nature in this book. She hasn't really accepted who or what she is but having the knowledge of the supernatural world she is a part of helps her figure out that not all vampires are bad. Action, romance, and an ending that has me ready for the next book!

My Review: 5/5 Stars

I love the Hidden Legacy series. It's probably my favorite by Ilona Andrews (though I could also argue that the Kate Daniels series is my favorite too. The type of world created when it comes to magic and those who possess it are so interesting. This novella is a bridge that will begin the next part of the series that will follow Catalina. The sister of Nevada, who was the heroine of the first three books. Catalina is best described as having the powers of a siren. When she uses her magic, those affected will instantly adore her and want to possess her. It's an ability she does not like because she can never tell if anyone likes her for who she is or if it the magic that is forcing them. The only ones who are safe from her magic are her family.

The novella follows Catalina as she coordinates her sister's wedding. That slowly proves to be more difficult than one can possibly imagine. She soon finds herself trying to find a priceless tiara and the suspects are her sister's soon to be husband's family. Catalina discovers that the family has a lot more buried dirty secrets than anyone could have predicted. And on top of all that, someone is trying to kill the bride and groom by tampering with catering. Catalina has her hands full. And she proves to be excellent under pressure and we are given a glimpse of who she will become. Catalina is only 18 in this book and the next book will jump to her in her 20s. I am looking forward to seeing how Catalina's character will develop. How she will choose to master her powers. And of course see what she will do with a certain Italian named Alessandro. Absolutely loved this story. Can't wait for the next one!
